Hey and do you guys remember when an 8 G hard drive was....HUGE?! I was so proud of my 8 G hard drive! That was one bad ass machine. I could put several adventure games on it at ONE TIME....like Grim Fandango and Pandora Directive even! Oh....and the whole Gabriel Knight series!
Wait a minute....I don't think I put them ON the hard drive....I think I had to run those from discs....and each game had like 10 discs or some shit.....
I don't know. My memory is getting kind of cob-webby.....
Wasn't much into that but i did have a TI994A computer... I remember imputing this long ass string of code to make a little guy appear on our screen and his arms and legs moved and i thought that was awsome
I even remember when I read BOOKS as a child. Yes...a CHILD...reading BOOKS....for RECREATION! Oh the horror of it all! O.o
Heh, I think I had read every Hardy Boys mystery novel by the time I was 8.
My first computer was a Vic 20.
I had a Pachinco machine.
But most of the time for fun a bunch of friends of mine and I would run around the neighborhood with BB guns, or squirt guns depending on the time of year, and pretend that we were the A-Team... lol
My home gaming started with a Binatone playing Pong, then my brothers Atari 2600 (hated that bloody joystick) and then because he bought a ZX81 I had to have a ZX Spectrum and being the baby of the family I got it at the same time spending every lunch time in the local arcade by my school and in the pub every Sunday after Sunday morning football (That's Association Football) and gaming's been there ever since.
So am I old, experienced or just plain cool?

hehe, I remember putting a 4 meg video card in my machine and someone told me I had it wrong. There was no such thing as a 4 meg video card. I must meant I had 4 meg of RAM.
I also remember ROM. And not the action figure either!
Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.
Ah those were the days. I remember our first computer, an Apple IIe - there was no hard drive. Then we got the IIgs with 128k O_O, OMG it has onboard memory. Couldn't believe it - sheesh my thumbdrive has 250,000 x that memory now.
And playing turtle, I don't think it was called turtle but thats what we called it, just a drawing program and you were a little arrow.
Still think one of the best games was a text-based game called Adventureland, or a stickman graphics called Aztec or something. Sigh we were so young.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it is bad.

I think you are referring to Logo. It was was an easy to use programming language that taught procedural programming to non-programmers. A lot of schools brought it in for the younger kids to mess around with to understand the concepts of computer programming early on.

It also had the ability to create your own functions as well as use hardware sprites. So, some crafty people actually made games you could play out of it.
I had the power glove, bought it after I had sugery on my left hand so I could still play video games. Heh, I used it so much I managed to get a blister on my thumb even tho I wasn't mashing a button. Along with the Atari 2600 and the 8bit Nintendo I also had one of these lol.........

Dungeons and Dragons 1st edition.
"1st edition"? I suspect you're a newbie. Do you mean the hardcover "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons" (or the large boxed "Basic D&D")? Or did you actually have the original boxed set booklets? Do you remember using Chainmail's combat tables? If I say "Supplement I" do you think "Greyhawk"?
Well it finally happened. Remember as a kid seeing those ads on TV or in a magazine saying "This ain't your daddy's (insert product here)" Well on this site, I just saw an ad for this glove that's supposed to play MMO's without a keyboard or something which states "Not your daddy's powerglove". Wait a minute. I had a power glove. But then that would mean.... NOOOOO!!!
We all know how well the NES power glove turned out. And incase you missed out check out the review down below
Here is what the Angry Video Game Nerd thought of the NES power glove... I think this can speak the same for this crap as well

Some of us, including kids, still do play outside or read books for recreation, but they also play video games now.
I wonder if I still have my old power glove.
hmm...
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
Answer this:
I still have my dice. Can anyone bring themselves to throw them away?
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
I still have my dice. Can anyone bring themselves to throw them away?
Heh, No way. I played first ed. also.

That may have been it. Logo sounds very familiar and what you described was what we did

Yeah but then we got the power pad so we didn't need to do that anymore.
And who here remembers using said pad like this ----->
My answer lies in my avatar's pic

My first version of D&D came with cut-out cardboard tabs instead of dice...
