Im looking for another MMORPG that I could enjoy playing. Here are my options: Fallen Earth, LotRO, or Aion. I've tried the trial for Fallen Earth and LotRO before, even though I enjoyed both I ended up going back to WoW. I want to give one of these games a try. I was just wondering which of these 3 are the most popular at the moment, and for the poll, vote for which one you like. Thanks for the help

I only played Lotro of those, but I liked it very much. So I voted for it
Nothing!
MMO's are just to far behind the gaming curve atm, and they don't have the excuse of 10 or even 5 years ago. That being internet connections and their speed.
When I play these newer MMO's (Fallen Earth, DF) I just feel like I'm taking a step back in time to 2004 or something instead of 2010. All the other games are just the same old crap, I played WoW I enjoyed it but I expected there to be a replacement for it by now, here's hoping to TOR.
None of those. Darkfall is the game for you , and everyone quitting wow, or any other MMO. And they should quit right now.

None game like it. Fuck the standard line, generic mmos.
Lotro or Aion, both are just as good.
Aion is a little bit more active than lotro but both are doing pretty well

I love LOTRO so it got my vote and aion is to much of a grind
Depends how much time you have on your hands imo.
Are you "hardcore"? Which is usually a euphemism for being able to commit to a huge time-sink of a game, then you want one of those games which requires six hours a day for three months before you can even begin to feel you are making any difference.
Or maybe you are casual? Do you like solo or group play?
Is it crafting you want? PVE or PVP?
In answering these questions first, you shall find your wow-replacing game.
I tend to game-hop myself. Game-hopped from WOW back to EVE and then recently back to WAR. But I have hopped around most games, incuding Darkfall and Fallen Earth.
I used to be hardcore (by the time-sink euphemism of hardcore I mean) when I was a high school and university student, but since I started working and started a family I am officially casual, by which I mean no more than 15mins to 2 hours a day gaming (single player games and mmorpgs btw) and usually no more than 4 days a week.
WAR is fun again now that they reduced servers and starting areas in Europe. It is a nice casual gig, too. Can fire it up, play a scenario for ten minutes, and then log out and deal with real-world stuff.

noidea what now ,but,You should first test Fallen Earth trial :]

Lotro is a not so good WoW and FE will for me was a questathon. Aion just dont go there.
If these are your three game of choice I would say FE. But tbh I dont think any of them are that good.
I HEARD REAL LIFE IS TEH BEST MMO, SPECIALLY IF YOU ARE LEAVING WOW
/troll off
discard Aion and FallenEarth and get fun in Lotro
There is no knowledge that is no power.
Having recently left WoW, I feel your pain and numbness searching for a new MMO. Blizzard did very well with a simplistic, no brains required game, highly polished, finished, with new content for the masses. Even if you hate WoW with a passion, you have to give them Kudo's for delivering a highly finished and polished product. Now on to what to do now. If, like me, you desire the same polish and thought to design, you will find nothing. Many developers are trying to hard to NOT be WoW. AoC comes to mind with its terrible interface and mechanics. Fallen Earth is another, which after my trial I had no desire to play. The best hope in the 2nd Quarter is Earth Rise, which seemingly promises something decent to play, but time will tell.
Playing: Nothing (nothing worth playing)
Favorite: SWG (pre NGE, CU)
Played: WoW, Eve, DAoC, Warhamer, AoC, SWG, Earth & Beyond
Hope: GW2 maybe
Really depends on why you left WoW to begin with:
-If you're burned out on the whole gameplay idea and want something entirely different, go for FE.
-If you just want the a change of scenery, while still dealing with familiar mechanics like raids, crafting and so on, Lotro is the better choice.
I can't recommend Aion, unless you want an Asian grinder with a PvP endgame focus. (WAR or AoC would be the "western" alternatives)

One of the best games I have played in the last bit is Fallen Earth online, good community and it plays more like and old Interplay RPG than a MMO.
This sword here at my side dont act the way it should
Keeps calling me its master, but I feel like its slave
Hauling me faster and faster to an early, early grave
And it howls! it howls like hell!
Fallen Earth is the only one remotely different than WOW. I don't understand why people play lesser versions of the same game.
Not meaning to be redundant but I've seen several of these posts, and with Fallen Earth as an option. The game is worth a try, but in all honesty, one needs to play through the tutorial completely and dabble in it's player-centric gameplay a while to really get an appreciation for the game.
FE is definitely a sandboxy blend of pve/pvp that is free of a themeparkish ride that hands you most of what you need, like Aion. Aion is a very good themepark pve/pvp balanced game. Fallen Earth requires that the players drive their own experience by socializing with other players, as opposed to expecting a computer-coded npc to walk you around the world exclusively.
LotRO was nice in its day, but it is a heavily pve-centric game centralized around questing; the balance wasn't there for me. So keep in mind that FE can seem uninviting at the beginning due to the game-play challenge of not having a themepark-type tutorial that holds your hand through how to play the game; but that will be a similar experience with most sandboxy games Ive tried. With that in-mind, if that doesnt appeal to you, Aion is a better bet since it's game-play is rich and ushers you from one point to the next, but its all scripted, and the pvp seemed game-play meaningless to me.
Again, I think this is noteworthy for the Fallen Earth Indie mmorpg, to mention that it is getting noticed more often.
Readers have voted and Fallen Earth has been named Best Online Game at Game Industry News' Game of the Year awards. All the winning titles across different markets are here. www.gameindustry.com/goty/winners.asp
Fallen Earth has implemented some changes to improve the new player gameplay. More recently, as reported, The best one is an extra tutorial that shows new players how to craft and use other skills, something that was sorely missing at launch. We hope this trend of improvement continues.
To date, this in-game community assistance and the GM/Dev support, particularly the in-game help channel dialog is most impressive; more impressive and responsive than I can remember when thinking about other mmorpg titles that launched and are active. It might not be the be-all-end-all mmorpg, but its worth a shot.
Striving for Silver Stars since Gold is so effeminate.
LOTRO is a nice game but it's not really different enough from WoW. I recommend Fallen Earth if you like post-apocalypse(Road Warrior, Mad Max), wild west gun slinger genre.
You probably want something different than WoW so out of those choices Fallen Earth would be the bigger change of scenery. Like someone else said the game feels like games did back in 2004 instead of how almost every game now feels very similar to each other even if they are in different settings. The game has a grittier look and feel and has an intense crafting focus. The developers are also pretty active in the community and will jump into the game to chat and such quit often so you know they are actually hearing the views of the folks playing the game.
If you are looking for something still in the sword and sorcery line though I have been a life time subscriber to Lord of the Rings since launch and I have no regrets. The quest lines are well written and the character classes all have a different feel to them so making alts will give you a new playing experience right from the get go.
Just play some non mmo games for a while ,then come back to wow for cata.
both lotro and Aion are different types of games. So depending on what you are looking for I can recommend both or neither.

None of those and I would go for Guild Wars or D&D Online. These two are free and far better games. Much more fun. However, with that being said...WoW will be here when you are done and see that there are no games that can beat it for sheer fun and scope.
Play the game you enjoy playing. There is a reason why you tried the MMOs you mentioned and came back to WoW. Why to play those games when there is WoW lol. Will you play a "popular" game even if you don't like it? I am taking a break and waiting for Cataclysm and AoC expansion because I enjoyed WoW and AoC. But that's just me.
Probably because they don't see them as lesser versions.
WoW has LOTS of content and a robust develpoment staff as well support and a fun yearly event. With all that I should be playing wow as my main game.
But I can't. I like the themes and stories of Aion and LOTRO far better. I have not only tried wow in closed beta but also have a character from the first day of launch. And with on and off playing over the years that character is in low to mid 30's.
I play a bit then drop it. It doesn't hold my interest for long though the time I do play I enjoy for what it is.
but with LOTRO and Aion I have Practically maxed characters. they do hold my interest. So obviously they characteristics that are different. I assume others sense the same thing.

Look at the games list here on MMORPG.com, and choose one at random.
If it has a free trial, or free play available, give it a go.
If you do not like the game, repeat the process until you find a title that you do like.
You will be in for some interesting times if you try this approach.

@ OP if you must play a MMO to hold you over to a Real MMORP like say TOR then maybe try your hand at the 30 day free trial to all that interest you and hey nothing venture nothing gain maybe even try the 30 day STO for that matter why not?
@ Teala good choices if you like WoW knock off and lets face it D&D is not a very good solo game. As mention TOR will be the next not be the Next WoW but instead TOR will be what WoW wishes it could be.
