How can that be, when he doesn't play it?

Sure he can view their business practices and judge them based on that information. However as far as the state of the game goes, how would you see improvement or a lack of, if you're not playing?

It just isn't possible, I would definitely tell people to take anything I say to criticize MO with a grain of salt. As I have not played extensively, I've only dabbled.

It's also questionable what motivates his posting habits. When he personally states He'd be gone if they give his money back.

I don't want to go into his posting history, however he stated that within this thread so i think its fair game.

I want to hear the truth as much as the next guy, however I don't want that truth given to me as a cover for a personal agenda.

Also throw in the fact that it is a game, in open beta, that anyone can test.

This means people who wouldn't normally even be inclined to play such a game may be so inclined to give it a shot now; while it's free.  These same people, whom wouldn't normally play a game like MO, may also be inclined to give an opinion on it.  Someone that wouldn't normally be such a person to play a game such as MO really wouldn't be expected to enjoy it.

How would their review come out?  Probably not so good.  Unfortunately most gamers who try something that they wouldn't have if they were required to purchase it first, are likely to give an opinion or write a review based on their true feelings towards the game.

A long way of saying that the game isn't being made for everyone, a large majority of gamers won't like it, but since it's in open beta and anyone can play they will, and they'll tell people it sucks.  It's all about the grains.  If you're a UO fan, or an open pvp/ sandbox fan, you really need to take what everyone says with a grain of salt.  A lot of people who wouldn't ever play a game like MO will during the course of the open beta and give an opinion based on that.

If you're a UO fan you should just try it now for yourself, while it's free; not take what people, some of whom have agendas against SV and even FFA, full loot PvP games, have to say as absolute truth.

Makes me think of the saying, "there's always a little bit of truth in every lie."

well, he did play early on; and he did spot basic issues with the game, that are still applicable today.

I have actually played the open beta a bit, to see if my criticisms were still valid -- and they still are. Everything from the patcher, to the ingame lag, to the bad UI, to the atrocious combat and more -- just points continually that SV seems to keep dropping the ball. Then again though, I found out early on they had no skill to develop this type of a game anyway, so for them to 'drop the ball' is rather an expected thing at this point.
