Skeptic: There will be monkeys in this game! Monkeys suck!

Skeptic: This game's combat looks like WoW with lightsabers. WoW with lightsabers sucks.
Fan: Thats your opinion.
While I personally don't have a need for a new wow-style game, I'd have to say fans are 2/2 in this. Except a few who say 'you cant have any opinion without playing' even though there are lots of videos and interviews to judge the direction the game is going in. So maybe 2/3, fans ahead.

Finaly someone that gets me. This game is not all that great except for the story line thing. Somepeople force themselves into thinking it will be good because of all the big names behind it. Blizzard wasn't that big but look where it is now. SWOTR so far is not that promising except for the thing BioWare can only do wich is make a diverse 4 or 5 decisions when someone asks u what your going to do next wich changes the hole story in the end. But exactly thisame was in Dragon age: Origins and mass effect. There is nothing so amazing about SWOTR yet nothing that is not being done by alot of other companies and the fact that u have to pay monthly fee for it is just even more ludicrous.
I'm just pointing out your post because it's the last one to make this statement, but what I say just doesn't apply to you but everyone else who thinks the same as you.
How do you know this game isn't great? Seriously, you have seen a "few" Alpha videos and make up your mind about a game a year plus in advance of it's release. That's just stupid, most of us gamers want developers to spend time on games in development before release to achieve that polish, this is the #1 factor of why WOW has been the top dog for half a decade.
But woah and behold the gaming community finds out that Bioware is working on this new SW MMO and we all want some footage now!! 2 years in advance and yes show me some footage that isn't 6 months to a year old, that's right 1.5 to 2 years before the games release!
Now I'm not saying that a lot will change from the videos we have seen and most likely will not, but basically they have the game ready to go 1.5 to 2 years before release, so what are they doing with all that time?? POLISH
I'm not hyping the game saying it's gonna kill WoW or be a massively huge success, because I don't know as much as you and others have no clue on whether this game will be great.
I have faith in Bioware with one thing, they make games that are fun and isn't that what gaming is for the majority of us? A chance to escape from life a little bit at a time and have so fun? I have no doubts that Bioware will deliver with the fun factor how long that fun lasts and will I continue to be a paying subscriber month after month, I have absolutely no clue, but I'm sure I will enjoy the ride.
Exactly. I haven't said that this game is "the coming", what I have said is that we need to give it time and actually PLAY it before we declare it to be a failure or success.
I think it will PROBABLY be fun, because Bioware isn't known for making games that are a failure. I mean, for gods sakes, my honey is playing through Dragon Age for his 6th time. I'm playing it through on my 4th (I'd play it more but I have a gaming computer and lots more games, hubby doesn't but we do have an xbox 360). Our friend (who just bought it and couldn't put it down) is on his 2nd. Just because we want to see all possible endings with all character types. Replayability? You're bloody right. Its so much fun. Both huby and I are on our second play through with mass effect 2 (I never finished mass effect 1 due to that aggravating maco but am now thinking otherwise because I want to see what will happen based on my choices for the second one).
Thats not to say that it WILL be fun. But it probably will be.
Will it be nothing more than an online single player game? Maybe, maybe not. We don't know. But just because they've emphasized single player doesn't mean anything since ALL games are single player with some grouping (when you fee like it) now. And its abou time we had a game that emphasized story. I'm perfectly fine with it not being a sandbox game, so long as its good.
My god people, stop freaking out. You don't know enough about this game to call it a failure, no matter how much you try to pretend otherwise.
Seriously I just want everyone to try this excersise with me.
Close your eyes, and imagine for a moment that The Old Republic isnt based off a huge IP (Star Wars) and imagine it doesnt have a 150 million dollar budget, and that it isnt being made by everyones go to RPG company "Bioware".
It looks terrible! Seriously I want to like this game just as much as the next person, but you cant tell me that everything going on in that video doesnt look like some cheesy game for a console. Theres nothing MMO like about it, nor is there anything exciting about it.
I just dont' get it. It looks good to me. I looked at the footage and thought, wow this looks like a great MMORPG.
I agree with OP they are setting themselves up for failure. I'm guessing the majority of their budget went into the quest and story line system. They better come up with some insane innovating features because so far the visuals are really weak.
i agree with moraie, i stopped coming to this site pretty much because no matter what game it is , you find the same little niche group of people who just want to hate on any other mmorpg coming out. I think this game looks fine graphically, and i feel that this game will be more like mass effect with a star wars skin than anything else.
The npcs cover, block, and feign death....
the game is story based, might be similar to LOTRO, but it is definitely unique in that matter
there appear to be controllable planets as seen in darth haters post, where he points out faction banners on cities and outposts.
it will have the same aspects as other mmorpgs.
the game is 90% open world...that itself is huge.
the animations are all motion capture and fight choreography (if i remember correctly)
there are hints with this weeks story of engineering and space ships, customizable and upgradable.
the game is soloable, but that means you will miss alot of content which is specifically made for groups
exploration and advancement are very big parts of the game
The reason why there is so little information on other systems (crafting, social, etc) is because bioware stated that they do not release any information unless it is 100% and locked in. So while it is very annoying from a fans perspective, i rather do that than like what funcom did....tell you everything ahead of time of what was going to be in and then it never showed up in game. You will complain either way, so there's no point in arguing it.
Personal preference is the key to the op's post...he doesnt like it, nor will he ever like it. Me? If it;s anything like Mass Effect or Dragon Age, with the amount of content they are promising, and because its Star Wars (yes i love the old movies)....i could be very very happy for a long time with this game.

So far the haters have been right with almost every MMO release since WOW, people overhyping games then find those hype obessed fanboi back here 3-6 months later hating on the game they once overglorfied and go on to hype the next big thing and the process starts over and over.

Seems like two arguments.

The OP is a troll and his buddies are just trolling as well. Ignore this whole thread.

Even hearing the word "iconic" in reference to a Star Wars game makes me start to feel a bit sick, lol
Apart from that it looks fine to me? Like someone said it looks a bit easy if anything bad could be said.

i am not hyping the game, just pointing out some infallacies people are making up.
