It is obvious that WaR could do better if developers use all the potential this game has. I really don't think hat turning to hybrid payment system (like DDO), and making this game "f2p" would ruin this game. For DDO, changing to f2p was best thing they could do (they earn $$ from itemshop and suddenly many of new players decided to buy subscriptions), so maybe developers should copy good ideas? Anyway the mmo market is really crowded nowdays and imo there will be really few subscription based games that will survive. As far I know LOTRO may turn to hybrid in near future as well, so some changes can be really needed to keep WaR alive
AoC needs its expansion (which will breathe some life into it.. or at least hold onto the subs it has)
WAR needs the same injection. (even if it's just a small island based like before wotlk with daily quests and a couple of dungeons while they work on an expansion once bioware is finished with SWTOR... just needs something to keep people playing then EA can shift around teams and bring 2 MMO's to the fore.. and offer the UO and camelot for free if you subscribe with WAR and SWTOR... they could easily dominate behind WoW)
STO will eventually die, mostly because of the cryptic points.... and lack of content.
CO is dead... or dying very quickly, can pick it up for under £4 now... hell that's cheaper than Auto Assault (£5) and this is 2 months before AA reached that point in its lifecycle.
I'm guessing anyone who is with CO will abandon to COH once going rogue is released....
And according to rumours cryptic is working on a THIRD MMORPG... wth.... lol
