The question is simple. Post your game and time if you want. Paying a subscription cost and not playing doesn't count by the way.
Edit-Forgot to mention FFXI was my highest, a little over a year.

hi
My WoW sub is currently at 4 years, 5 months.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift
In UO I ran a continuous subscription from launch through EQ beta.
EQ I ran a sub from launch through 2002 (would have stopped in 2001, but AO was in horrible shape)
AO I held a continuous subscription from mid 2001 up till the launch of WoW.
WoW, well my account is good til 2030 if I ever decide to play again. But nowadays I just cant seem to stay subbed to a game for more than 2 months at a time before getting bored...
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
EQ - 2 years way back in the day
WoW - 3 1/2 years, recently unsubbed (time off)
and WAR - was my shortest at 6 months
moved to AoC
HEAVEN OR HELL
Duel 1
Lets ROCK!
I usually sub for a month. Still not found a MMO that i can call home yet.
Played EQ from 1999 to 2004.
Played EQII from 2004 off/on to present.
When I re-sub for EQII I get the All Access Subscription, so I do log into EQ from time to time with that.

An opinion should be the result of thought, not a substitute for it. - Jef Mallett
Only at WoW and Aoc i managed to reach close to 1 month of play, havent really found a mmo that will not make me get bored after some time
UO '97-'03..
Played UO for probably 3 years, maybe more but at the end it was on-again-off-again.
Played EQ for 2-3 years.
Played AO for about a year when it started, left, then went back for about 2.5 years.
Most other games have either not grabbed me for more than a couple of months or are just pointless and don't make me want to play at all.
Compare that to text-based games where I can think of four that I played for more than 10 years each, the longest of which I played for 16 years straight.
Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR, AoC, GW, GA, Aion, Allods, lots more
Relatively Recently (Re)Played: HL2 (all), Halo (PC, all), Batman:AA; AC, ME, BS, DA, FO3, DS, Doom (all), LFD1&2, KOTOR, Portal 1&2, Blink, Elder Scrolls (all), lots more
Now Playing: None
Hope: None
EVE since 2006, looks like that will continue for the indefinite future.
Give me liberty or give me lasers
UO/Everquest with DAoC coming in third. AC fits in there somewhere but I can't recall where. About 2/3 years on the first two. Since then, everything has become fairly disappointing rather quickly and my "retention time" has been decreasing as the quality of MMO releases does the same. I've played nearly every MMO under the sun. Lately I haven't found anything I've been able to stick with for longer than the free month without discovering "oh joy, another game where all there is to do is gear and grind."
Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

EverQuest 1 = 5.5 Years
World of Warcraft = 5+ years
Am done with WoW now. Playing more most non-MMO for the time being than anything. I do subscribe to Champions Online for some minor enjoyment as there's not much currently out there that interests me., at least until Bioware's Star Wars Online hits.
EQ - Somewhere between 2 to 3 years. Not sure the exact time.
Next would be LotR - Although I have quit and resubbed at times if you added it all together it's probably somewhere in the neighborhood of a year and half to two years.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
SWG: 5+ years (and then on/off again after): this was a game I didn't want to let go of. I always thought the developers would pull their heads outta their arses and make the game good again. They didn't... haven't... and won't. I don't play SWG anymore and will never sub to that game again.
WoW: 5 years (with a total of about 6 months or so total away time/breaks). Multiple accounts, 80's, etc.,... It's not the best game ever. I don't care what numbers say. It does a lot of things well, but doesn't do any of them 'perfect'... and many other games do things better in certain areas of the game. I have a lot of friends that play, so I continue to do so as well. I do like the game, don't get me wrong... but there really is a lot of room for improvement.
I've played other games, quite a few. Those are my main 2, though.

My top three /played MMO's:
1. SWG - Three years
2. EVE - Four years off and on, probably about two and a half years total though.
3. AoC - Nineteen months.
MMORPG History:
Playing - EVE Online.
Played (Retired) - AO, SWG, MxO, WoW, RFO, SoR, CoX, EQ2, GW, L2, Vanguard, LotRO, AoC, TCoS, Aion.
Favourite MMO - Pre-CU SWG, 3 Years, 4 Accounts, 2 Pre-CU Jedi (1 Pre-9).
Awaiting - Star Wars: The Old Republic, The Secret World, Earthrise.
Interesting question...
CoH/V = 4+ years
WoW = 1+ years
LotRO = 1 + years (currently playing)
I seem to play in 8 month long cycles. Just seems like after about 8 months I begin to get a bit bored, and feel it is time for a break for a little while. I have returned to the mmos I have left too, but since I have an extended break I wouldn't consider it a single subscrion time period.
If I ignore the break my longest time would be a little over a year and a half in WoW.
UO = 10 years
I subbed to UO two months after release. My sub is still active. I think that's 13 years this November. ;-)
UO - 12 years

Well, I am still subscribed to my first MMO. I have been playing it now for about five months. I have no intention of stopping any time either. I enjoy my guild, the events I participate in, and I love the storyline so I am going to be hooked on it for a long time.

Seems like my average MMO life span lasts about 3 years. Less so these days due to real life.
WoW- 5years+ ...
UO for a bout 2.5 years. . The realm for about 1.5 years then DaoC was next. . a year maybe. . after that nothing for more than about 6 months.
The problem is that I can't stand being led around by the nose. . I feel like I am not playing a game like WoW but rather it is playing me. . you can't even head west. . you have to follow the trail. WAR was the worste for that IMO.
Right now I am hoping MO pans out and considering DF. . I just can't go back to quest quest level quest quest level.
