Jon "NERVERDIE" Jacobs the man infamous in Entropia Universe for a number of pricey transactions, including the $100,000 purchase of virtual property and the $69,696 sale of a virtual egg, has opened up a new rock-and-roll themed planet called "Rocktropia" in Entropia Universe. The planet was developed by Neverdie Studios using the Entropia platform.
Rocktropia includes destinations such as "Motörhead Stadium", "Lemmy Kilmister's Castle", Cash Money's Kevin Rudolfs' "Zomhattan", and the pop culture capital "The City of Dreams".

So he bought this planet and he could decide how they designed it? or did he have to do that himself? or did the planet come like that when he bought it?
Would be pretty cool if he bought it and could tell the devs how he wanted it to look etc.
Currently Playing Path of Exile
NEVERDIE (not NERVERDIE) founded his own studio to create the planet.
Basically, RockTropia uses all the mechanisms (code) available within Entropia Universe, and added his own content (textures and monsters/animations). The idea behind the Entropia Universe is that MindArk supplies the platform, and planet partners attract new participants. The revenue is then split between MindArk and the planet partner.
EDIT: To elaborate: f i understood the model correctly, MindArk (MA) trains planet partners (who will need to get approval (read: funding) before they are allowed to call themselves planet partners) to use the MindArk CryEngine 2 dev environment. So MA provides the platform, the economic model, the code-base, the servers, bandwith, etc etc, and the planet partner delivers the content and the new users.
There is at least 1 indie project trying to become a planet partner: http://www.planet-postmoderna.com/

Too bad Entropia isn't a better game. It actually has a really interesting platform.
"There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer."
Does he have permission to use all these epic rock names in this venture?
Well... Hellgate is coming back to the West, next time you login the game will be back up :P
I cant believe hes the "most famous avatar in the world", "the most successful avatar in the world", and named a "studio" after his avatar name... what the ****, rich ppl with an ego.
Does anyone play The Sims Online, IMVU, Second Life, There.com? Anshe Chung is the most famous and successful PERSON in the world, in my opinion.
Anyway, other than that, I have no interest in a "Rock" Tropia, because its the Entropia engine and that game is an old platform... I didnt spend thousands on a gaming rig to play out-dated games.

No Mercy. No Remorse. Just Business.
Well, who is the most successful etc depends how you measure it I guess. Anshe tried EU but didn't do very well.
So the Entropia engine is outdated? You do know that it uses Cryengine2 right?
Nevertheless, EU isn't like other "games" and it doesn't fit everybodys taste. To skill up takes time and patience if you want to do it for the lowest cost possible. If you are in a hurry and have deep pockets you can do it fast by buying skills from other players. In that way players that doesn't want to spend (many) money can sell their skills to people that will, and thus earn money. If you really are interested in EU, I would suggest to read up about it and use different sources for your information. Some forums is filled with people that use every oppurtunity to make it sound bad, while others are full of people that makes it sound better than it really is. I will leave it up to you to find links for yourself, as whatever I might provided might be a bit biased.
Oh dear Rikar seems like you just made a fatal fail.
Entropia Universe is the best looking MMO on the market as it is using the same engine as Crysis. However it is a money sink still and when you add real world money into a game then you get the scammers.
If you mean by those names quoted like motorhead stadium etc. then yeah. Those people all came to him, it's like a "planet" revolved around promoting and advertising music, therefore a few bands bought some real estate to promote their crap.
Dont you just LOVE people making 1 new account and then promote their game/cause with it .... lol go away!
Um, wtf? ViagraFalls makes no money directly by promoting Entropia. Sure he runs an EU forum, but so what? He, like me and others understand that EU, like any game, improves as the customer base increases. How is this different from, oh I dunno, everybody else here that speaks well of the game they play?
Funny reading the quote under your account.
The only way to have a friend is to be one.
Guess you were so focused on the forum link you missed the "happy to help" part as well.
Happy hoffing
Ofc it helps with player base, they want as many as possible playing since it cost real money to kill mobs. You dont have to explain to me how it works I played the game long before you probably since I started playing 2002. And ofc more people losing money (not ingame money but real money) is always welcome to mindark, or FPC.
First off it costs 70 ped ( like 7dollars) to get the that place called Rockotropia, and when you get there you find some halfass made mobs that sure need alot of more work before it acually looks somewhat good.
And if you wanna quote my "Only way to have a friend is to be one" then maybe you and all your friends can give me money. Since that is EXACTLY what we are talking about now and not playerbase.
If you are unclear on any of these point please feel free to post it here, but lying about the true intent and try to talk someone down that knows exactly how Project Entropia works... that is an insult and sure not any facts.
Yes, EU costs real money. Real money in. Real money out. And yes, of course you're gonna lose part of your money. (How do you expect the company to stay in business?) So, what? You played years ago and couldn't make a million dollars so you left and now you trash it? OK nice move. (Or are you still playing?)
Don't talk to me about facts mate. The travel fee is ~$4, not $7. (Where'd you hear that $7 crap?)
However, that fee is high for a reason. There isn't meant to be huge back-n-forth traffic between the planets like there is between the continents of Calypso. That fee is more meant to be a "moving fee" like packing up all your stuff on Calypso and moving to ROCKtropia, where you intend to stay long term.
Think of it as the cost of a U-haul. If you're dumb enough to keep moving back and forth from New York to Florida, you're gonna pile up quite a moving bill, aren't you?
And you want my money? Fine, come to EU and loot the things I'm willing to buy and sell them to me for a price we can agree on. I do business with my friends ingame every day. I even do business with my enemies.
Capitalism. The cure for the world's woes.
Happy hoffing
Well since the planet is crap and it cost 4 dollar to get there it acually cost 8 dollars since you wanna goback right away and that cost 4 also. So its 8 dollars and not 7 dollars sorry about that.
I wouldnt know about travels from New York to Florida since I live in Gothenburg where Mindark has its office. And I would gladly pay for something worth seeing and not crap.
Capitalism is acually just a good way to enslave people but that disscussion we can save for next year.
I dont put alot of creed in people with 1-10 posts since they just made the accounts to promote their game and they make it for some free advert. Maybe you should start a fundraizer insted of trying to get more people to lose more money.
To hunt in EU btw on a medium scale cost you about 500 ped for 3 hours. And you should be lucky if you even get 50 % of that back.
As I said, it's $4 one way. Some will stay some won't.
Hope things are well in Gothenburg. I assume since you don't get my analogy about the cost of moving between places, you're just doing that on purpose to be a jerk.
OK, don't put a lot of creed in my low post count here. How about my massive post count on EntropiaForum.com ? Or ViagraFalls' lengthy time in Entropia. Guess you'll just skip the fact that we both know more about that game and can better explain things than you can. (By the way, do you even play still? When was the last time you logged in?)
I play one game. ONE. Entropia. Played it for years now. And yeah there were some topics here I found out about and decided to join in. My post count won't be high here for a reason. I don't play those other games. I found what I like and stick with it.
Guess you're not big on the "hey, welcome to our forum new guy" bit. Guess it's just the old-time jump-from-one-game-to-another no-loyalty more-posts-than-play-time folks you prefer.
If you jump around from game to game as it seems you do (kinda have to, to get such an "uber post count") than you know not every game appeals to every person.
But since EU allows you to withdraw money legally without having to sell gold on Ebay or whatever, I guess that's enough to warrant such harsh tomes from you.
Are you this rude about the other games too?
Happy hoffing
Yeah I know about Entropiaforum and you are a Moderator there. Which makes me see your post here more like advertising and I think you can get reported if you just make an account here to post advertising. I know all about it.
Only difference is that I am telling facts about the game youre trying to glorify the game more than saying the acual truth about the game.
And I am not being a jerk, I said the bottom line on that. That what is the use of traveling when there is nothing to see yet it costs money?
If you dont play other games then why are you trying to advetise Entropia here, people on this forum already knows what Entropia is like.
Yeah you can withdraw money legally on Entropia but you can also do that on poker and you alot more chance of getting money there than in Entropia. Since you can play against other players there. In Entropia you only play against the bank and the bank always wins.
So my suggestion is that you stay as moderator on entropiaforums and leave mmorpg.com alone.
And being rude and being honest are two different things. Maybe the truth hurts your game, but face reality. A true friend cares about people and he dont want other people losing money which they can use for something better than losing it on a avatarbasedlootreallifeeconomygame like Entropia Universe, Project entropia or like its called now First Planet Calypso.
I been playing Entropia probably years before you started and I still play on occations but since FPC took over losses have been to high. From 50-75 % loss on 9/10 hunts no matter what mobs you hunt. And not to talk about SGA event where I totally lost 30,000 ped that is about 3000 dollars. And didnt even loot one SGA item on constant hunting 14 hours everyday during this event. That is only the last months.
If you got enough money to lose 300 dollars everyday then sure play the game. Back in 2002 I did great it was a good game but its not anymore.
Talked with someother friends ingame and the losses on this event was from 40,000-80,000 ped which is around 4000-8000 dollars on only a few weeks. And most of them are quiting because they lost the trust in the game.
And loots are just bogus since they are avatarbased because under this SGA event same people got all the items from SGA. While others hunted everyday from 10-14 hours and didnt get jack.
All this is pure facts.
Yeah I got the travel fact wrong I said 7 dollars but the cost was 8 dollars, since you wanna get back also. But you are trying to make me look like a liar while infact youre just trying to glorify something by pointing fingers at something else. But I guess that is way you work it.
Since I talk alot with people and friends in the game I know exactly who is the better friend, and that is me. I am not trying to say that "this game rocks try it" and after that people will notice how much money they lose like youre trying. Because that is a glorification of what it really is.
The fact that youre a moderator on the largest Entropia forum there is makes me take you even less seriously. You working for Mindark or FPC too?
Sounds like a good tactics tho, complain about peoples writing and small details to steer their eyes away from the important stuff like your doing here.
I hope mindark or FPC pays you enough to write on this forum.
Aah, Entropia - one of my favourite games!
Damn, soon i will return to Calypso
btw Neverdie is a legend, so shut up!
I was actually going to revisit this game to scope out rocktropia, yet when I went to install the game from their website all it gives me is errors from their downloader/installer.
This message is presented in TECHNICOLOR for the sheer sake of doing so. If you dont like it, I dont give a damn. :-)
Now for my own points: As I said above, RockTropia is not finished. EntropiaForum users have clearly documented that the planet is lacking in unique blueprints, unique minerals, and a unique gameplay feel. At this time it can be summed up as simply a new land area with alot of boobs, hungry werewolves, and a dragon named in rather poor taste after NEVERDIE.
Many EF users have expressed their dissatisfaction with the product. While this can be said of Entropia at large and users of EF, they do have some valid points in that as it stands RockTropia is in no way treated as anything different than say, Crystal Palace, or Club Neverdie. Globals should be renamed Universals, as they are announced throughout the universe, and in doing so ruin the feeling of being on a separate planet or game completely.
It seems to me that Rocktropia was released because investors were going to bolt if it was not. Investors meaning both players and non players who have deposited into the game. Mindark, NEVERDIE Studios, and Entropia Universe at large needed to shit or get off the pot. The problem is, it seems that the wait really was not worth it --- and the entire project is fundamentally not ready. In essence instead of a separate beta the entire game gets to endure a 3rd beta stage, after having a primary beta, a cryengine2 beta, and now a world release beta.
Keeping a long story short, it seems rather unprofessionally done.
Fortunately this is an MMO, so chances are it wont stay that way. That still is no excuse. Just a life jacket.

Sorry. Would have replied earlier, but was busy playing.
However, in my absence I see Magyar made a rather well thought out post. I agree with a big chunk of what he said. And for the record, Magyar and I aren't friends at all. However, I'm just as happy agreeing w/ my adversaries as I am disagreeing w/ my friends. They are both human and can be both right and wrong.
I don't mind being in a forum where I have basically no friends. That don't bug me. However, since I don't play the other games, then yes, obviously my participation here will be limited. (pauses while they cheer)
If you bother reading the threads I've made on EntropiaForum.com, you'd find that I am far from being 100% satisfied by Mindark. I've documented their problems maybe more accurately than anyone else. However, that I see their faults doesn't blind me to the fun nor the problems and achievements of others.
Patrikd23, I'm sorry you had a tough time loot-wise in Entropia, but it just explains why you're so bitter. My opinions of the game don't change based on whether loot is god or bad, but I totally understand why that's the case for others. I bet I can figure out where you're going wrong if we worked together. As I said, I spend $50/month avg. on Entropia. To hear people say that they're losing hundreds per month in the exact same system I see others spending even less than me and surviving tells me you may be making some errors on your part. (I know, suggesting "operator error" is frowned upon. Any problems must clearly be the game.)
However, to say I work for MA just because I get loot while playing is a complete twist of logic. That's like saying I work for McDonalds because they pay me in hamburgers when I give money for them. Utter nonsense. I do not work for FPC, MA nor Neverdie or anything/anyone else associated to Entropia. In fact my mod duties I do for free and donate my time.
Also Magyar, it's funny you try to call it a Ponzi scheme. What Ponzi scheme do you know where the big guys pay little folks like me for my loot? Those "uber" players are my customers much more than I am theirs.
But this is all off-topic to this particular thread. This thread is a bout ROCKtropia, not Eu in general.
I've spent the past few days on RT, and had fun exploring. However, yes, until the planet-specific loot is more in place, I would suggest waiting for now. And later only go to RT if:
You plan to make it your permanent residence in EU or,
You can afford the high back and forth moving costs
And that's the bottom line.

"A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to separate investors from their own money or money paid by subsequent investors, rather than from any actual profit earned. The Ponzi scheme usually entices new investors by offering returns other investments cannot guarantee, in the form of short-term returns that are either abnormally high or unusually consistent. The perpetuation of the returns that a Ponzi scheme advertises and pays requires an ever-increasing flow of money from investors to keep the scheme going."
Yes off topic, but this is a discussion. Sometimes discussions veer off topic. So what? :-)
Aside from the word fraudulent this fits Entropia Universe like a glove. In fact the only way EU escapes from being labeled a Ponzi scheme outright is by the sheer fact that it is percieved as a game. Like slot machines in Vegas, its for fun --- so it confuses users. Is it gambling? No because its arranged so as to not be gambling according to Swedish Law by virtue of certain mechanisms that allow users a limited sort of control. But the control is limited. Users cannot expect returns, only hope for them. Theyre not guaranteed, and the returns that are available are provided by the consumers themselves --- including returns for MA. Reviewing the definition of Ponzi Scheme minus the word fraudulent:
The Ponzi scheme usually entices new investors by offering returns other investments cannot guarantee
EU absolutely does this. Loot is based off how many people are playing more than what the players level of abilities are.
short-term returns that are either abnormally high or unusually consistent
Define the loot pool any other way? Globals, HOF's... anyone?
advertises and pays requires an ever-increasing flow of money from investors to keep the scheme going
In order to maintain operations and payouts EU must recruit new players and make sure those players deposit.
That being said, I am not morally opposed to Ponzi Scheme architecture as long as its honest from the outset. Amway is another Ponzi Scheme. A successful one. They do work. EU is honest about what its doing. Nothing is hidden. So, is it wrong? No. Is it a Ponzi Scheme? Yes. Or maybe no. That depends on if you are an attorney or not, and are dwelling on the word fraudulent. It is this word, and this word alone that is EU's saving grace.
For the record, I never said that you were the apex of the scheme. Youre merely a participant. Just like I am.
More for the records --- I posted this because I am not playing! I am waiting on a friend to get over before the Mrs and our buddy go out with her to celebrate his graduation from CMA. Damn sailors! Its Saturday night. Time to hit the bars. I'll tell Dr Zhivago you said hi as soon as I get back in the other room!

What the hell are you people talking sbout?
If those of you that are interested want to check out Eu, do it!
If the trolls that think everything is ok without trying it, Don't-
I pretty much like mmorpg.com because they have some free for all things. Sometimes we start to discuss some game. Anyway discussing here is like pissing upwind!
If you feel like you are mature enough (yes I mean that you have to be mature) feel free to check out EU!
(and i am really glad that that almost everybody is around 30.)
Not everybody likes wow or secondlife.
This is not meant to look down at you guys, but it is an invitation to try if you will.
I tried back in 2005 this "game". I was lucky as I got in a society (or clan or whatever) the first day. I learned a lot. If you wanna learn what I did, just check out my other post here.
I am beginning to get fed up at all the idiotic comments from people that either havent tried or have tried for about 3-4 years ago. Also I am a midlevel player and I think that those that have tried and areunsuccsessfull have used their money wrong.
EU is not for everyone. That doesn't mean that you cant play for free..
I cannot play for free, put at least I can play for around 15$ a month and still be in the +...
They got a walktru on the entropiaforums dot com for the side issues. But they dont have it on entropiauniverse dot com site lol. So they acually want you to check the forum and let them help you since they dont wanna waste the time to either help or change the client it seems.
I'm honestly not going to bother with it. If a company can't atleast make their installer work correctly, to me it's not even worth visiting. Why should I have to post for technical help and go through a bunch of non sense just to install a game? Figured since their game has been running so long, the least they could do is make their installer work properly since they're so eager to drag in new players.
