I still log in from time to time and play a bit but not enough to consider myself "still playing". I won't go so far as to say I've given up on it, because I haven't but I am pretty much taking a break from it.
Space is great, ground not so much but I do love the ST IP and have always enjoyed the space part of Trek more than anything else. I know I'll be playing this again in the future.
I'm just curious to see how many are left on this forum that still play this game.
I am sure you have a lot of votes from those who have never played the game. I am going to go with a lot who bought it are still playing it as it offers close to what they said they were offering along with the long beta it ran.
Long BETA? That was probably the shortest BETA in the history of MMORPGs. Far as what Cryptic says it offers and actually does that is a matter of contention. One of their commercials shows you in the captian's chair looking at a viewscreen. You can't play this game from the captain's chair perspective. You get to beam in to your bridge and look around, but that's it. The open world economy never happened, which was promised. The Genesis system wasn't what many of us expected either. We were under the impression that this would be a random generation of new worlds to explore. What it turned out to be was a random mission generator of planets and races already seen. Many of them were similiar to each other, they would just switch "Gorn Base" to "Klingon Base." Never once was I able to intitiate first contact with a species.
Woah really? One of the huge selling points for the game was that you could make first contact with new races and even recruit a member of that race as a bridge officer! I knew the stuptid Genesis System would be crap, I just never knew how crappy it would be...
Just a quick, amusing note on their vaunted Genesis system...there was a thread yesterday that even the CDF had to give a /facepalm to Cryptic over: an explore mission had the guy helping some aliens because the Borg were supplying weapons to some rebels. Yep, those sneaky Borg are well known for supporting insurgents.
On another note, /point and /laugh at the guy that said STO had a long beta.

Oh my goodness. That has got to be the most lame use of the Borg since Voyager.
Purchased the game on sale, played during the included free time though I uninstalled the game before my free time ran out. The game box and disk will make a nice paper weight on my desk though.

Heh, i got a STO t-shirt with my copy. I was going to sell it on ebay, but they are currently reaching the dizzying price of 99p so not really worth the listing fee.
I'd be curious to see the results if a choice such as "I've never played the game" was added to it. Unless everyone who posted "No" really did play STO at some point, which I doubt...

Here's what we do know...
347 people have responded so far
Only 16 % are still playing it
That means out of 347 people only 56 people are still playing the game after two months
I find that to be quite disappointing for the type of IP this game is based on
But 100% of that 83% were just whiners so things are much better in STO. If you listen to the lts that is....
I thought we were all haters? Or are we all still in the employ of Blizzard/Bioware spreading negativity? It really is hard to keep up with the labels LTS's give us in an attempt to delegitimize our views.
It's funny watching the difference between the responses from the CDF when lifers rip the game vs the lowly white names. It's like white named haters are viral marketers that need to be banned but blue names are God-like and get handled with kid gloves. Pretty soon all we'll see on those forums are blue names.
AWESOME! That's going to be the STO lifetime subscribers when STO either goes 'Free to Play' or gets axed for having too low of a population.
"Oh my, how horrible, someone is criticizing a MMO. Oh yeah, that is what a forum is about, looking at both sides. You rather have to be critical of anything in this genre as of late because the track record of these major studios has just been appalling." -Ozmodan
I played for about 3 weeks total. Spent $30 on a 60 day time card and added it to my account, and I never actually used the time. Just thought of the game as a lost cause. Waste of $85 that I will never get back.

There are a tonne of MMOs that offer free trials. Try out any number of them and then weep at what STO could have been.
Currently Playing: World of Warcraft

Heh, funny stuff.
For some reason, the "CEO" part made me laugh because his suit was several sizes too big for him, which made sense.
Lol.
You're the first to mention that - that was exactly what we were going for! Thanks!
