more than likely nothing would change, the players that like WoW are probably already playing it, and those that arent playing it probably never will, now, an interesting poll to carry out would be about a month after the release of cataclysm, and that is, to see how many existing WoW players will continue to stick with WoW, as i believe its something of a gamble, im fairly confident in Blizzards abilities, but, odd things sometimes happen...

Wouldnt play WoW again if it was the last MMO on earth

Nope, I have gone years between having a steady MMO, and I was tired of WoW during its first release as Diablo 2: LoD. The wait for the next game would be bearable, and if there was never going to be a next game, then I would start working on the next game myself, what an opportunity.
Already played WoW, got bored, tried to come back a couple of times as per request of some IRL friends, just can't. It's been fun, and I have to admit it is a blast to level a new char to end-game. Once I get there...the grind for gear, points, etc suddenly hits me like a wall of bricks.
Chances are I'd play from time to time and go back to FPS. Haven't played one in a while now.
This is one of the best questions i have seen here on this website, however it still leads one to wonder if they are telling the truth or just hating.
Well if you had a lie detector, you would know for fact, that i would not play it.Not because i hate it,just because it offers nothing that i enjoy about online gaming.I would instead probably return to playing first person shooters ,or just do what i am doing now, playing some of my older single player games, waiting to see if FFXIV can deliver a good game or not.
The bottom line is that i would never play something because i HAVE to,i need a definite reason to play a game.Right now there is ONLY one online MMORPG that i would consider playing and that is FFXI, and i have not played that for over a year now.The main reason is i do not like following linear quest games,i am not even playing that in my single player games.I did not like FFXIII at all because it was a linear quest game.
I want a MMORPG to be grouping,no PVP,and leveling that does not focus on quests?Yep you got it FFXI.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Would you play it, or leave the genre and go to Console gaming and other things?
I'm not playing it now nor any other MMORPG either, so why would I play it if it were the "last game on earth". (I also despise and do not play console games of any kind)
I enjoyed wow when it first came out but with the additions of instanced battle grounds, raid dungeons, and most disgustingly of all, the arena, I could no longer enjoy the game. I see no reason to ever go back.
"Gypsies, tramps, and thieves, we were called by the Admin of the site . . . "
If that would happen i go back to solo rpg's, i would never play WoW its just not my cup of tea any themepark i would not play.
Games played:AC1-Darktide'99-2000-AC2-Darktide/dawnsong2003-2005,Lineage2-2005-2006 and now Darkfall-2009..... In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.
Why would every other MMORPG be shut down???? Everyone has there own tastes so I just don't get the question. We kinda live in a heterogeneous Society so everyone things and acts differently.
If WoW was all that was left then there would be no more MMORPG playing for me, WoW was fun the off and on about a year till BC which I bought but left 1 week after it was released, but now it's definitly not what I want from a MMORPG experiance, put the graphics that just do not appeal to me to it and I would be simply MMO-less from then on and continue the other genre's of games I always kept and am playing.
And just because WoW does not appeal to me doesn't mean it's a bad game or I hate the game, I am sort of addicted in a gamers way to MMORPG's but only if they are visual appealing to me with the gameplay I want out of my MMORPG experiance, WoW simply doesn't deliver that to me.
Kinda makes me wonder what would WoW players do if WoW for some reason totally shutsdown??

I'm not playing any MMOs right now so no it wouldn't effect me and no I wouldn't play WoW.

Wouldn't play - I'd play single player RPGs on my PC or (shock!) read books instead.
Having a MMO to play is not as important to me as enjoying the MMO that I play.
I stopped enjoying WoW, and don't intend to resub for Cataclysm, so it being the only one left wouldn't entice me back.
If that would happen i go back to solo rpg's, i would never play WoW its just not my cup of tea any themepark i would not play.

I wouldnt
I am between games now and am not playing it. So if it was the only mmo left I still wouldnt be playing it...

Graphics aren't everything in a MMO, but I hate HATE WoW's graphics, and I'd be SOL. I guess I'd stick with single player games.
Ditto.
I hate WoW for the same reason I hate:
