I'm an Elitist. Here is why.

sayuri2006sayuri2006 Member Posts: 161

I'm an Elitist. I know it and I enjoy being one. I'm not here to flame but for others to see my and other Elitist's point of view.

I've just turned 15 and currently studying and play WoW when I'm not at School. I usually only play after School and on the weekends. All my friends play WoW so it's a good social activity as well, as we like to laugh at all the bads. I can't understand why people expect us to be leniant on them when they don't take 10 mins out to learn their class.

I set up PUGs or I do Heroics with usually two friends. To be honest I don't care about your background or your WoW experience. I use GearScore proudly and it does wonders. I will set a GS so I know we can clear and not wipe, which is why I will only accept you if you meet my GS. I will also kick you once you have been invited once I find a higher GS player until the raid group is full. I don't care as It's all about maximising the raid group, I don't want bads lagging behind as I want  to clear as quickly as I can.

In Heroics, it is the same. I as the leader, will kick you even if you think you should stay as you have just dinged 80 as I set a time limit on instances. I don't care because as a DPS you will be replaced in 10 secs so I can achieve my goal of clearing the instance quickly, rinse and repeat. Why take a sub par blue wearing baddie when I can get an ICC geared person?

I'm not here to be your friend, you want to chat, stay in Barrens or Dalaran, I'm here to get my badges and to raid. Period.

This is why you do this.  Maturity will bring a new outlook on many things.  You will find that maximizing your raid or whatever you called it, isn't the most important thing in the world, or in the game.

    But good luck raiding anyhow.

Thats an amazing vocabulary for a 15 yr old. Do you live in Dawson's Creek?

Are you an elitest in wow because of the time you spend in your locker during school?

Tell your parents they failed at raising you.

Glad you're playing WOW, we'd destroy you in EVE.

You know those jocks in elementary school back in the day that wouldn't let you play football with them because you're too slow? You've become one of them, in an extremely pathetic fashion. Congratz on becoming what you've hated all those years.

Is this satire? I can't tell anymore on the internet.

Well, from my point of view, it's called being a good and graceful person.  Those who are TRULY good at something do not need to brag or belittle others in an sad effort to be recognized.  Instead, they are recognized for their achievements in addition to their postive attitude and kindness to those who they play with. I can remember many of the well-mannered elite gamer who ever defeated me in fair battle.  The gankers,  smack talkers, and immature elitists are out of my mind within five minutes.

Those who run around and talk smack constantly, and get off on making others feel bad are only known for being unliked.  It is up to you which path you decide to take, but don't expect anyone to respect your opinion if it is based in negativity.  A little smack talk is fine, it's fun, but when you take it too far or are doing it constantly, you should probably ask yourself why you feel the need to do so.

Also, you likely know little or nothing about those "bads" including their age, game play time, health issues or whatever.  You don't know if someone is sitting there because they just got laid off, or were told they have cancer, or lost a loved one, or they are mentally challenged, or they are just having a bad day.  Again, ask yourself why you need to feel better than anonymous strangers.

Finally not everyone goes to school and gets to come home and game all night.  I have never been one of those "elite" players who gets in 4-8 hours per night, every night, and I never will be.  I am a smart player, and I learn quickly, but even intelligence doesn't stack against time played in most of these games.  Realize that some people don't play as much as you.  It would be like an NBA basketball star talking smack to a high school basketball player after whooping him on the court.  It's simply stupid, and you gain no respect from anyone except other people with the same security and recognition issues you have.

I hope this answers your question.

A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.

Man get out and enjoy being a teenager. There will be plenty of time later to play games like WoW.  You may just find out there are better things for a 15 year old to chase instead of frost badges.

As i read this i can't help but just feel a little sad for this guy.  He's 15, which means he joined the MMORPG website when he was 11.  I mean it just seems you get more enjoyment out of crunching numbers and being a jerk then having fun with people.

But if that's what you like, congrats to you.

    Indeed.

Bottom line is that the OP just wants to be carried to easy loot.

Any type of real effort or challenge involved is too much to ask and not worth his time, so he segregates himself from the community aspect of the game, all so that he can get his shinies quicker than someone else.

If he rolls with mediocre geared players then he has less room to make mistakes himself, which would expose his own bad playing habits, and that is simply not acceptable because it would damage his e-pride.

These are the exact types of players that my guild and I avoid because to us the game has always been about HELPING your fellow players gear up so they can participate in the content with you. Attempting to stonewall people fom participating because of there gear is absolutely absurd, gearscore is the worst addon ever designed for WoW and is completely detrimental to the community aspect of dungeon running gameplay.

I agree, haha. I bet the OP sits next to the smart kid in math just so he can recieve a higher grade, having them explain everything rather then learning it themself.

    This is all a joke.

    Read his previous post: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/2854825#2854825

He's upset because the community blows and all guilds are now all business. I agree completely with this sentiment.

Also, he's not 15. He has DAoC on his MMO resume. DAOC was released in October of 2001, he was 5 when the game was released. More over, he was 9 when WoW was released. Why would a teenager that has a bunch of friends that play WoW, play DAOC when he could so easily play WoW?

For those not bothered to click through, the highlight for me is this bit:

"But, I don't know why so many of the players on my realms (I was on 3 realms, so I'm not just speaking about one) were/are uptight about everything. No-one seems to relax and enjoy the game; they just sit there, generally calling people vulgar things, making stupid remarks on the trade and general channels and basically putting down people."

If it is indeed  the same poster (same name anyway), he has become what he once deplored.

A salutary lesson in there somewhere I feel.

I'm very good at looking at videos that tell me how to kill bosses, I must be an elitist . I'm 15 years old and felt like I should tell everybody how badass I am in a virtual world.  I have a mid 5k GS, this also means I know how to play. Fighting the same scripted bosses every week makes you good to.

About all I got from this. This has got to be a joke post. If not, please reroll on my server so I can camp you.

I'm sorry if this has turned out the wrong way, I have tried to quit b4 but this is how WoW has become. I want the bads to not laugh at me. It is fierce out there now, you have to have a protective shield on.
