About droids - they absolutely should be smashed or cut in two when 'killed'. It's iconic to the movies, and if WoW can make a cool death animation for treants, then BioWare can do it for droids.

As some others have observed, I do like the demo of new skills. If they could do some more variations of character defeat that would make this game skyrocket IMO. Someone from the game trailer site pointed out they would like to see robots sliced in half when finished off by a lightsaber. My sentiments exactly!
I would get an epic feeling (i.e. Player reward ) if there were "fatalities" in this game. Maybe even make a foe defeat benefit the player/party ( a buff, knockback an enemy group, cause an enemy group disorientation, etc).
Just rambling thoughts and hopes to a good game
Some good ideas.

Just like dozens of Agt. Smiths didn't make the second Matrix movie cooler, thousands of Sith and Jedi won't make this game cooler.
Now, I understand that the time period covered excuses the abundance of Force-users (which is probably why they chose it), but it won't make it any more fun as a game experience.
How the heck do you balance special and powerful individuals like Jedi with other classes? Perhaps have two types of accounts - one Force user or a host of other characters (say 5 or 10 slots). In PvP - make one Sith or Jedi match up versus 5 mundane characters?
thats the problem when they make jedi like a normal class its nothing at all like the movies where a jedi can take on a army. SWG had a good way to deal with it when it first came out but ofc they had to redo jedi into a normal class so you get more jedis then the other classes. thats what gona happend in this game.
Actually, its a lot like the movies in the sense that, sure you're a Jedi or Sith and you're balanced with Smuggler and Bounty Hunter playable characters, but just as they said in the video, this isn't about tank and spank combat like just about every other MMO out there, its about going up against insurmountable odds like they did in the movie. For every 1 Sith, you will be taking out dozens of troopers, smugglers, jedi etc. But the difference is, none will be PCs. Even Jedi and Sith in the movies, books and games had non force using characters that were formidable.
Jedi's will still be able to take on an army, but don't expect them to be able to take on PCs as easily.
I think its time people realize that the only way this game will work is with balanced classes. It doesn't diminish the star wars feel just because you don't get your I WIN button in PvP.
The game looks good to me. Im just trying not to get my hopes up to high. I enjoyed SWG when it came out and i hope that this follows that.
I guess i just have issues that Jedi & sith in this game can be killed 1 Vs 1 against a trooper or smuggler.
That being said i know it has to be that way to make the game even and fair for all. It just kinda takes out the whole wanting to be a jedi/sith. You dont have that ohhh ahhh felling is the only way i can think of it.

It doesn't actually. It's just that BioWare is playing it safe, rather than innovating. They are using a standard MMO combat and classes system and putting a SW skin on it.
They didn't say "How can we make Star Wars into an MMO?" They said "How can we make our MMO like Star Wars?" Which was one of STO's biggest flaws.
It just kinda takes out the whole wanting to be a jedi/sith. You dont have that ohhh ahhh felling is the only way i can think of it.
I think the painful irony of MMORPGs is that the bigger the IP - the less faithful the game will be to it. Which is why I no longer look for my favourite IPs to get the MMO treatment.
If SWTOR was an original IP game, I would be a lot more enthusiastic about it. The same way I felt about STO.

*nerdgasm* Well being a huge SW geek, it's quite cool for me.
I love the many special powers, freeze, lasso pull and what not. I think it looks really fun to fight. That they say it is not heroic that several players hack for minutes on one poor bear or badger but it is heroic that one hero prevails against multiple of enemies is what I have said for years! It's like they fullfill one of my No.1 wishes for MMO combat. It also looks like a good balance between action combat and not too twitchy demanding player skills. I am not the guy for too much running and lolcoptering, so it looks like a really good mix. All perfect! 10/10 XD
Also nice to see they have capes now.
Where can I buy? <.< >.> <.<

Anyway, I think it great to see Bioware showcasing the battle system, I think not only are we talking a plot heavy solo friendly immersive mmo, we are also talking about one that will have great and complex PvP too.
On what are you basing that claim?
The mmorpg article isn't really written from a fan perspective, but if you read online articles where they go through the videos in minutiae of detail you will note that there appears to be open PvP, and complex moves are capable by the classes previewed.
That's very vague and speculative.
The graphics presented by Bioware now are likely to be lower than will be possible in the release version of the game as Bioware are most likely still tinkering with things like shaders and frame rates for higher end PC systems.
I didn't mention the graphics. Why did you?
Well, the game is a long way from retail release, so all you are going to get is snippets that Bioware are working on and speculation ;-) . But, look upon it logically, one of the easiest gameplay elements to place into a game is open world or instanced PvP or RvR or whatever you choose to call it. As a result although the classes will have story arcs, I will bet you a sort of sandbox feel is possible in the endgame, through character improvement, PvP, PvE...etc.

Ah, I'm sorry, but you are so incredibly wrong about that. Tell that to Mythic who couldn't get it right, even though it was supposedly the focus of WH Online. Tell it to Blizzard who have had all sorts of problems balancing PvP.
No, just no.

You can't get sandbox (which I also didn't mention) gameplay from character development.

Well, as for the first point PvP does work in mmo games, so it is perfectly possible.
For the second point, it is possible to have a linear game that branches out into a sort of sandbox.

they talk alot of taking the combat to a new lvl but all i hear is what every developer say about there game and its just the same as the rest nothing really new. and they show the jedi alot and thats what gona sell the game but its not what i want to see. 1000 jedis and 50 troopers thats what where gona see in the game, it should really be the other way around. sure i will OB test it when i can but im not hyped over the game will just wait for testing it and see.

Hey, look on the bright side - at least if it's heavily instanced enough, you'll hardly ever see those thousands of Jedi players...
Your idea is ok, but I think it'd frustrate a lot of players, having to make a choice like that. Back when SWG was a real game, I proposed that they instead limit the amount of Jedi playtime each player gets. Such as, 1 hour per day, cumulative up to a week, if they prefer to save it up for a single 7 hour stretch. Alternately, and less casual friendly, they could make it so players earn "Jedi time," by actively (e.g. progressing, gaining xp, etc) playing non-Jedi characters.
Either way, they'd reduce the number of Jedi characters in the game at any given time, and have the option to make them more powerful than regular characters. Still frustrating, of course, but less so, IMHO.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

Youre right and wrong at the same time. But more wrong than right.
Yes any game can have pvp, but to do it right takes more effort than just adding an instanced "arena". To do it right every class should be viable in pvp, and not just in a rock->scissors->paper sense.
Not to derail the thread but WoW is a perfect example of fail-pvp. With some classes being (literally) god-like, and others being almost completely impotent.
