See? That's all you people need to worry about here. Even "casuals", who currently pay $15 a month for most MMOs.
well i guess you dont see the difference it is not an mmo . . .
You might want to rush over to RTW and tell them their game isnt an mmo, and while your at it, tell ArenaNet that Guild Wars isnt an mmo either.
You have no idea with whom you are arguing. that guy is never wrong, trust me. He has spent last 4 hours bashing APB. ,he is distrubingly obsessed witha game which he is never going to play.
lol i havnt heard from you in 4 hours let alone spent the last 4 hours bashing anything
spend your money on what you want i dont care dont come back crying
and if this is your pariah so be it but then crimecraft wasnt really that bad either
but crimecraft is free now so i cant be mad at it it didnt take my money

Dosen't matter what the label is, the question is whether it is worth $10 a month. If a shooter with two playfields (largish ones granted) and a lounge is worth it to you great, have fun. Perhaps someone should rush over to RTW and tell them to adopt ArenaNets pricing model. I'd be in then and would even pay for new 'stuff'.
My big issue atm is that they claim I make stuff to sell for RTW pts. But everyone is capable of making stuff, so how many people are going to pay cash to buy RTWs to give me for something in game? Then divide them amongst the competition.....

You just described CrimeCraft.....so....is APB supposed to be like THAT?! O.o Wow I really need to pay more attention to these new games coming out....soooo many of them, and my oh my is the "MMORPG" genre getting muddy on its definition.
I played CrimeCraft (which, by the way, the developers do NOT call an MMORPG)....it's not an MMORPG. It's not even technically an MMO, and....the developers don't call it that either (they call it a "PWNS"...persistent world nextgen shooter), but for some reason....sometimes players just don't think the devs know what genre of game they're making. I know....weird, huh? Although....I think there HAVE been things peddled to us as MMOs....that aren't.
Anymore...."MMO" and "MMORPG" seem like increasingly difficult to define.

I just don't see it happening....
Like every MMO, crafting is for all but not entire population engages in it. For exaple i just prefer PVP and have zero interest in manufacturin anything. Also if you are creative you can make unique logos which no else has and you can make lots of RTW. Logos are used on cars, clothes, as tattoos... so yeah lot of oppertunity to make RTW.

crimecraft is small compared to this game. i there just limitation with the 100 players per city its better than 20 like champions online. it would be to over crowded with more than that probly.
and if you think about it there probly not many more per instance for AOc either if AOc is an mmo (whitch i bet apb zones will be bigger) apb is an mmo. global agenda isnt a mmo in my eyes because its WAY small

Hmm...so I make some logos and sell them. I could see if I made something that got popular I could rack up. But at the same time that means people can make things and post them for sale with out the mods vetting it. Sounds like you will have tons of immature little kids with pron tats running around.....sounds fun.....

Sorry but can't control the kids however, like i said if you make something unique you will rack up lots of RTW. A lot of people are more eager in pew pew then manufacturing. Atleast thats the impression i got so far from the official forums.

well lets hope things work out. I would like to see this take off. Not meaning to be so negative, but learned the hard way a long time ago not to get too hyped up over a game till it hit open beta
I like the pricing model. The game is what it is, and RTW needs to make money, if the game's ever going to be anything more. I don't see how a F2P model would be more lucrative for them. RTW isn't NCSoft, and APB isn't Guild Wars. There are reasons GW made it as a F2P game that wouldn't work in APB.
As far as the social districts being free - that's not so that you can keep playing for free. It's so you can always have the option of getting your feet wet, which might entice you to pay for the action district. You can play around with customizations, without feeling like you're burning payed time. It's a great idea to let people into the game, kind of like having F2P newbie levels, except built into the game system so well that you can come and go more freely. Quit the game for a few months, and come back, without paying at first. See what's changed, chat with people about the game, think about paying again. That sort of thing.
Personally, I hope it works out for them. Honestly, they need to get creative, because otherwise they're awfully close to slipping into the F2P realm, where the game barely makes enough money for servers and a skeleton crew dev team, just keeping it alive, rather than making enough money to keep building on the game into something more.
Especially considering they're under EA, who're all too likely to just shut it down on a whim.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
This is an interesting choice of payment method. $10 a month isn't that bad, but $7 for 20 hours is a little hard to wrap my head around. Sure you save $36 a year but in the grand scheme of things thats not that much. A better bang for your buck is to pay the $10 and thats what it seems their hoping most people will figure out. I wonder why they didn't make it $10 a month or free with ads? This is in a modern world, they could have put posters and signs up of real businesses and had companies pay to have their advertising in game per month and change the ads every month or so. As driving around you see a Burger King sign, or a Coke ad on a bench. Maybe they just didn't think of it.

Uhm....ArenaNet already SAYS Guild Wars isn't an MMO. Now Guild Wars 2, on the other hand....WILL be.
Sorry for butting in, but....I'm just sayin'.....the developers call it a CORPG.

Instanced limited PvP game, not worth the price. I rather buy Guild Wars even though I loved APB, not anymore.
