Question: A male playing a female.

What do you think? I never played a female main before but I LOVE Night Elves. I want to play one but their males look stupid dance stupid and overall cruddy compared to the women.
On the up side I'd rather look at a woman's butt then a guys and my character wouldn't look stupid.

personally i think its sick, the rating on this game shud be pretty frickin high.. becoz i know i wouldnt want my children asking me why is a almost naked lady dancing on a bar table in darnassus? =P

I'm a male, but I never understood why anyone would want to paly the oppostie gender, you're just lying to yourself man. Play a male and make the game betetr for everyone else. Everyone will know your a male and won't think your a pervert. People will respect you a lot more if you paly a male than be a female and say you are a male. If you choose to discard this advice, whatever its your choice but do the right thing and make the game better. FOr the sake of your community.

Screenshots and videos are necessary for first impressions, but what you can't see in them are the things that matter the most.

I really don't like having porn in my games that attract people like you who want to look at a women's ass all day while they're dancing and walking around. GO otu and get some fresh air, play sports something man. It feels good trust me.
I agree, when it comes down to it. how you think about it is all that matters in the end.

I've played a female char once, and that was FFXI where you couldnt create male mithra. Mithra = great thieves.

people can play what char they want to play. It doesnt have anything to do with u. If no males palyed females it would be prolly 95% males running around. and for one i dont like sausage fests all day long when im playing mmorpg's. Does this make me gay? i think not. Who cares what ppl play its not effecting u.
I have always made female characters in MMORPG's and i wont be breaking this tradition in WoW. Yes my girlfriend thinks im wierd, but she has managed to deal with it =P When i get new armor i just find it more astecically pleasing to see it on a female character and im also a sick, perverted man.

So shapeshifting into a bear or a cat is "normal?" How many people have said this - it's a game. I don't think there's anything weird or wrong about it as long as people are honest if they're asked.
I think of it like this; just because I play a shaman in a game but that doesn't mean I want to be a shaman in real life. The same goes for female characters, just because I occasionally play a female character doesn't mean I want to be female in real life. I'll usually play whichever gender I think is more attractive. I like the way NE females look compared to the males so I'll play one. I don't like the way Tauren females look so I'll play a male Tauren. Simple.
The only drawback to playing a female character is some people assume that you're actually female. Some people might give you stuff or act nicer than they normally would. I think most people realize that there's probably a guy behind that female character so it usually isn't an issue. I've read posts from girls that have said they sometimes play male characters to avoid handouts etc. Does that mean they're not "normal" either. I think not.
I had an interesting experience while playing a female during the first stress test. I was grouped with a male character and we were both working on the same quest. The other player killed enough mobs for the quest and promptly left the group and said something like "I got what I needed, thanks babe." I was somewhat taken aback and started to feel like I'd been taken advantage of so I pm'ed him and said something along the lines of "it would be nice for both persons to finish a quest before disbanding the group."
Did he assume that it was ok to leave me hanging with an unfinished quest because he thought I was female? It certainly seemed that way because in subsequent pm's he called me "babe" several more times. At the very least he came across as selfish because he left the group when he got what he needed. On the other hand, it could be argued that he was being sexist because of his remarks and attitude. I'm 99% sure he thought I was female because when I told him I wasn't a "babe" he asked, "well what are you then?" I replied "I'm a guy" and didn't receive any further pm's. I really think he was surprised to learn that I was male.
So, did I roleplay myself right into a sexist situation? Ladies, does this sort of thing happen often? If so, I can see why some of you might want to play male characters.

A character is not you, nor does it need to reflect your personality. It is entirely up to the role you wish to play at that time. You think actors are the roles they play ? because that is basicaly your arguement ( @ ppl saying gay in general )
Insecure people tend to be very fast on the trigger to judge when it comes to sexuality. Think about that when you judge the poster as being a transvestite or gay. You need to proove your not eh ? wonder why that is
