I've had as much fun with AoC as I ever did with WoW.

But the business world has a term called "mindshare" and WoW has it thanks to the millions who have played it.

I might consider playing AOC if it didn't have that stupid directional combat system.

They I don't think you'll be playing soon as it's one of the core features...

I guess now that AOC has a big expansion coming out and WAR is basically in maintenance mode, AOC has come from behind in this match-up. I have to give Funcom props for pulling a 180 in terms of gameplay and stability.

BTW I'm not currently playing either game but I'm seriously considering coming back for the expansion.

I don't understand your logic. AoC is only surging right now because of an expansion. WAR has not yet had an expansion, so we can't compare the two yet. Before the news of the expansion, AoC was in maintenance mode as well.

Once WAR gets its expansion we can see which game will "win", even though it is a silly competition to win. Also, Funcom didn't pull a quick 180 on anything since it took them 2 horrible years to get where they are today. And the game still has an overbearing amount of issues to work out.

The No.1 issue with AoC is gameplay. It's just not particularly fun. I don't think they'll ever solve that issue.

Noo, it wasn't in maintenance mode, that is an outright lie.

In the time from launch to now Funcom added a few new dungeons and new zones to solve the level gaps, made a number of class balance changes, enhanced the guild and guildcity options and added PvP content, next to the general work of fixing a lot of the bugs and problems that were there at launch: that doesn't sound like maintenance mode to me.

So did WAR so how can you say WAR is in maintenance mode and AoC isn't?

Besides, a lot of the content AoC added (pvp system, questzone,  armors, quests) should have been there from the very start since the game was a horrible mess without them at launch. Comparably, WAR launched with at least two to three times as much content as AoC and still keeps adding new stuff like armorsets and zones and dungeons.

You have no idea what maintenance mode is do you?

    I'd educate you...but no.

I am not sure that it is right to say that WAR is in maintenance mode but it is a lot more true than AoC. WAR has gotten way more people fired and the current crew are really small. AoC have also been cut but not near the same.

As for WAR: Where is my 4 friggin cities? Mythic promised that they should be patched in a few months after release. Both games were broken at launch but Funcom have done a better game then Mythic to fix things up.

Mythic should have spent a lot of more time with the endgame and made the RvR as it should have been from the start. AoC is a PvE game and they did patch in a lot of endgame content even if sieges still need more work.

If you want a winner a look on the fact that WAR have 25% of the game for free and is constantly sinking in sub numbers where AoC is actually going up.

This is not the final say yet, Mythic can still fix things if they remake the endgame to be closer to DaoCs but while WAR started in pole position it is currently behind.
