I wish I could say I was enjoying the game, heck I would love to say that I was hating the game or even playing the game but I cant seem to log on and when I actually am able to it is very laggy and i die a lot. Perhaps my files were corrupted when everything was downloaded, but I am loath to try and reinstall which I think would mean downlaoding again and then having to wait yet another day to try and paly the game. Then there are the other times when i get into the loading screen only for it to hang and crash my entire computer. I havent heard anyone else having these problems so I am thinking its my set up.
Originally posted by vernSL I posted this on the forums. I'm going to give the game another week and see how I like it. But I have a feeling I'll be back to playing Fallen Earth.
"So far, I'm not very impressed.I love AoC and love mostly everything about the game, I just don't love this expansion. They just haven't changed much. They haven't added anything groundbreaking or exciting. It just seems like they've added a few new zones and that's it. AA is basically leveling to 100 without actually calling it leveling to 100. You gain XP and get more skills. But now you don't feel like you're progressing.Yes, it must have taken quite a lot of time and resources to design these awesome new zones. But I still don't see anything great. I feel like the game has become this huge grind now. Now you constantly need to be playing and grinding XP to level your AA. Where before, you could hit level 80 and just start collecting gear to get better but you could catch up to those who played more than you. Now it seems like people will always be falling behind. I guess for myself, who is fairly casual, it's kind of frustrating. And I'm not sure why all these new MMOs are adding in so many different factions. I don't find grinding for faction enjoyable. But I've only played for a day so I guess I could be missing a lot. But this seems more like a big patch than something they should be charging for. This should have been given to their fans for sticking around through thick and thin.It sucks because I want to like it and enjoy it, but I'm just not feeling that sense of wanting to progress. Without having that number attached to your level, I'm having a hard time. And the fact that no matter what, I will never be able to catch up to those players who play all the time is frustrating. While I understand that's a part of an MMO. People who spend more time usually have the best stuff. But at least in most mainstream MMOs, a new player could get to level cap, and in a few weeks may even be lucky enough to gear up and be on par or close to even with someone who had been playing for a while.Hopefully a few more days with it and my mind will change. I really want to enjoy it, I did just spend $40 on it. And I'm sure most people don't feel the same way as me. Originally I thought the AA system was going to be awesome, but it just doesn't feel that way now.So what does everyone else think of the expansion so far?"
I feel if i play 8 hours a day and you play 2 then i should be ahead of you.
Kinda like if me and you had the same job. the 8 hour guy gets paid more.

I had a couple spikes last night too (first time in long time), just being honest. I read today the servers down tomorrow for maintainance and focus on performance fixes over the next few weeks.
Still loving it though, so many people, lots of PvP happening on Cimmeria in the 20-40 Gateway to Khitai at all levels.
Rolled a brand new character on Wicanna, still in tortage and that is packed too. Lots of global chat, perferring Wicanna community over Cimmeria's both not bad though.
My first impression is that Funcom released an expansion that only seems to contain faction grinds.
So if you like to kill thousands of mobs and grind all day for marginal rewards, this is the expansion for you. Personally I am very disappointed. I don't like grinding, and I am a casual player as well so all this expansion does is ensure that I will not be able to play the game. The game was already heavily biased towards large guilds and established players and now even more so.
In the end, if I wanted to grind mobs all day for ugly loot for no apparent reason, I would go play a free asian MMO or something.
I will be fair and say that I think the new zones are better than the old zones, though. Still, AoC is very much devolving into a pure grindfest right now. I would never want to pay a monthly fee for this and I currently really regret the purchase.
If the game had fun PvP (minigames, sieges, open world pvp etc) then I could see how this expansion could be a boon to some players as they could spend time grinding PvE to further themselves in PvP. But PvP in AoC is horribly dull at best, so really, what's the point?

Overall i'm liking the new expansion. There is nothing groundbreaking or innovative....but its solid content. The dungeons are fun and the zones feel better in the expansion when compared tot eh original game.
I tolerate but really do not like number leveling systems.....so i was excited to have the AA system implemented. So far i'm digging it.
I am not huge on factions because it ends up as a grind in most games and i dont think this will be different in AoC so it is a negative for me.
So all and all i'm happy with the new content i have explored and the AA system....but i could do away with this faction nonsense.
Playing: PO, EVE Waiting for: WoD Favourite MMOs: VG, EVE, FE and DDO Any person who expresses rage and loathing for an MMO is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae.
You are not blown away, because you don't care about AoC or its content. From your posts again and again you also show that you really dislike Funcom and AoC. yet the AoC forums here are the only ones that you keep posting on solely, strangely enough, not on any other forum of the games you claim to like so much better.
You don't 'get' the expansion, because you don't play AoC and are not interested in playing.
Else you would know that a majority of players like the fact that there isn't just a level cap raise as in other MMO's that would make the former high end content useless. And then you'd also know that many players think it was a smart move from Funcom to implement this AA system, and who like the factions or the fact that you have 4 huge end level areas, next to the dungeons.
All those things you don't know and you don't get, and you know why? Because you aren't playing AoC, and seeing your ongoing streams of negative posts you don't even like AoC.
Really, it is a complete mystery to me why you only post here, on the AoC forums, and on none of the other forums here at mmorpg.com, even as you say you like those other MMO's.
http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/3384963#3384963 here is me posting in the Aion forum but yeah usualy if I'm playing a game I will just post on the official or non official website. But I was right back then and Aion went on to be popular.
I was refering to end game raiding but my opinion of a game has nothing to do on how good or bad a game mechanic is. Also old content in AoC being relevant has nothing to do with not raising the cap but everything to do with adding only two bosses. Raid zones become obsoletewhen there are better raid zones and end game raiding games do a good job of racking them out so players don't get bored farming the same zone weekly for an entire year, like T1 and T2 in AoC which are a year old.
Are you sure about what players like??? I'm actually curious as that theory blows my mind. If it was me guessing, players would rather have all old raids that they did a million times AND 2 new bosses OR let's say everquest or WoW where they get 30+ new raid bosses on day 1 of an expansion and those games have much faster development cycles so they rack out raids faster after launch...I would bet most would choose a lot of new raids if they enjoy raiding.
I didn't mention AA but what is the diffrence between faction grinds and the AA system compared to adding new levels? I loved everquest 1 and they would release an expansion without raising the cap or adding AA and they would release so much end game raiding content that all the past stuff was not worth doing anyway so yeah I could care less about new levels. Yeah AA and no levels are fine it was fine in EQ1 so not saying it is bad here. But faction grinds may or may not be booooring and they have been in most MMO games.
If companies could get by with just adding two new bosses they would do that as it is easier compared to designing a new raid content. So what your saying is release an expansion and add less encounters than any other MMO but let players do the old stuff and it is better than just releasing a bunch of new stuff?
-------------
However, most end game raiding content is already pretty useless because there is something above it even in AoC.
-----------
IDK it seems the expansion is so lite it makes people want more to do aside from grind out factions, http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=218952 having more than 2 new bosses for raid content would be a big help.
The game has issues. The account management site is bar none the worst of any mmo out today.
However if you are sick of WoW this is one of the better options and its cheaper. 30$ total for the old game version +expansion in a box at gamestop. The game time cards at bestbuy are 13.99 for 60 days.
Its worth the money for me, at least until Guild Wars 2 comes out or Rifts.
Btw Alganon has a bad account management site as well BUT I think Funcoms is slightly worse.
Which is really saying something.
A man or "gamer" should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be.

Thank you for proving my point: you had to go back to the beginning of February to find a post of yourself that wasn't posted in the AoC forums. In fact, that was the only post in 2010 that wasn't in the AoC forums. And even in that one post you were trash talking AoC. Even more, of your 804 posts all of them except maybe 3 were in the AoC forum section, and all of them intent upon putting AoC and Funcom in a negative light.
Now consider this:
here's someone who claim to like other MMO's. Who doesn't play AoC. Who has only posted in the AoC forumthreads from the start. And whose every single post on mmorpg.com was aimed at trash talking AoC and Funcom. Wow.
That is... freakish. Maybe even disturbing, but certainly unhealthy. I don't know how the mmorpg team regards such behaviour, but to me such thing would seem trolling at best and a hate crusade at worst.
Now you can quote all the negative posts you can find on other official forums and spin it all you like, but who would you think would be better to believe?
Players who are in the game, have firsthand knowledge of its content and who can be honest enough to sum up the good and the bad of the game, or someone who has made it his single aim and mission to use any negative argument he can find to trash talk that game in every post he makes, only posting in a forum for a game he has proven to hate over and over again?
As players in this thread, in threads on the official forum and ingame have said, they like the new content, they are enjoying themselves. Are there flaws, or some people who still don't like AoC? Sure, there will always be that. I could take some threads from WoW or Aion forums and comments from WoW players or Aion or any MMO, and quote and spin it in such a way that it'd suddenly seem that whole masses were disliking the game and leaving it, and that the game was trash. It's easy.
If you really dislike AoC and Funcom so much, then move away. Play those other MMO's you claim to like and post in those sections. Instead you have used your time from the very start you registered on mmorpg.com to post negative posts in the forums of the game you hate, and only there.

I was blown away that only 2 raid bosses where added to this so called end game PvE expansion. That seems like less than any other game ever created and after being slow to develop raid content for the last two years this was the time to catch up.
I don't get why they are trying to extend content by adding boring grinds like faction and shrines of bori player vs. rock and trees. That seems off base for longevity. a small number of players may like rep grinds but what MMO doesn't have them and usualy they are not viewed as very fun so focusing 100% of the game on rep grinds seems strange to me. But I wish them luck.

The zones are a lot bigger, the factions are a grind tho, but it's not like I will grind each and every faction. Have my eyes on the few that I will be going for and it seems to me like it's something that will give people a motivation to go out and do stuff in the world other then just sit and wait for the next raid or group instance to pop up.
Looks good so far, will be interesting to see the rest, but I must say the first looks when I don't keep crashing looks good.
Nice to hear Funcommight of actually got it's act together somewhat for AoC. Heck, even I might give it another go since EvE's next expansion is godawful and im losing faith in CCP as a whole and don't want to keep supporting them. At least Funcom is apparently trying to fix things where as CCP just let's shit be broke for years and a "soon".

-its harder, alot harder which is good. some mobs are annoying, which is annoying.
-graphics are same old conan graphics which is good.
-grind, alot more, i dont mind grind much, played aion till lvl 50, they can add some more quests for factions though they'll get old in a very short time.
-bugs, crashes are still same old conan way, annoying but not that game breaking.

No not at all
great argument
My first impressions;
Litte bugs
Little tech issues
Little to much downtime for those getting tech issues
To much to do; dont have time!
level 80 content got shitloads witch is good
level 20-40 got shitloads witch I feel it had enough.
Repgrind! Some hate it; some love it; some see reward vs grind

Thanks, man!
here are my first impressions;
I need more vespene gas.
