I love the way the game is set up. Its not a huge time sink witch I dont have time for anymore. I can log in have fun then log off.
Yeah, like any multiplayer games. WE have battelfield for that. APB is suppose to be an mmo, but he dont stand in his ground really well. no one will pay montly for that game
Yes they will, you know why? Because whether you want to call it an MMO or a shooter or kool-aid or whatever, the game is fun enough to a lot of people to justify $10 a month. I'm one of those people. If you like BF:BC2 better then by all means have at it man. No one's forcing you to play APB.
This lol. The game is just a ton of fun. It's also got enough tools for players to get pretty creative and create there own content something I've been looking forward to since UO. Street racing is more than feasible to organize, when the clan warfare and more open zones or districts get added it will be even better.
While APB may seem fairly shallow, the tools that give the player opens up a sandbox style gameplay.
This is actually one of the things I loved about UO. I could hop in and have fun and most of the content was player made. We had festivals and tournaments, we had empty dungeons that we would fill with mobs we tamed and released that we used at gauntlets. I even had a house that I made into an event for the community, First floor was closed off and full of Dragons and Ogre Lords. Second floor had a narrow winding pathway you had to walk without falling. 3rd floor had several teleporters to choose from in which only 1 took you to the 4th and final floor. 4th floor had 3 treasure chests, 2 were trapped 1 had a check for 100k in it. I moved the chest around and changed which teleporter so it was different each time.
Haven't found an MMO that put that much power into a users hands to create there own content which is what made it a sandbox until APB.
DFO and MO both seemed to think it was about being able to simply PvP in a fantasy setting, it wasn't. I am finally getting a more UO-esque type of experience.... it's just odd that it's comming from a Cops and Robbers TPS MMO with a smaller and more instanced world.
Combined that with the fact that the game really is simply a ton of fun and yes lol I will most definitely be paying for it. I would like a more seemless world and a more fantasy-ish environment with some PvE.... but I can overlook a lot of that simply because well the game is the most fun I've had in an MMO in ages lol.
And come on lol... it's only 10 bucks a month or if your like me and plan on having this as a long term side MMO that you can hop in for an hour or two once in awhile to have some fun that 7 dollar 20 hour block of time that doesn't expire is perfect. And that time is used ONLY when you are in the action districts, the social district is free of charge and it's where all the customization takes place.

Bottom line this is how every game should be measure.... is it fun for you......... most MMO's now days simply aren't. I may spend a month in an MMO then move on because the cruds just borring for one reason or the other. I played UO for over a decade, FFXI for 5 years, the rest... well I spent a month to 3 max.

No they didn't sell me with customization, I was sole the minute I stole a dump truck, rammed it into a car a couple of thugs were hiding by and blew them to kingdom kum. I was sold when every minute I spent in game was fun and not some asinine boring grind.
Yes, there is room for improvement just like there is with any game. I'm simply glad fun wasn't what got put on the back burner.
And yes, I praised other games and not just this one. DFO was one I was a fan of and it was well worth the money for the time I spent in game. I enjoyed a massive server war that I was part of and it was one of the most epic times I've ever had in an MMO. But the fun just wasn't there because you had to go through months and months of grind to get to the fun like you do in every other god awful MMO, the grind killed a lot of players (Notice that this is one of the things missing from APB).
CO I also thought was worth the initial buy, but the game was crud. I loved the combat and the PvP was fun when you could find it but the rest of the game revolved around asinine PvE grind which is boring.
Thats about it, GW I was a fan of and played on and off for awhile but it was simply a b2p so it doesn't count in this discussion.
And what does it matter, again as I stated regardless of what ever you may think of the game I had fun. I will pay for fun because I am simply tired of paying for some asinine grind game that promises fun eventually.

First, it is my money. If I want the game I will pay for it. If I do not, I will not pay for it. I did not pay for Modern Warfare 2 and have no intentions on buying that game because the developers basically took a dump on PC players. Not everyone agrees but that is my take on it. Instead I bought Bad Company 2. It was fun but I have lost interest in it as it is basically the same thing most other shooters are with a few more shiny details. My mistake but I live and learn.
If APB turns out to be a disaster then I will move on just like I did when I got tired of Warhammer Online. Age of Conan is a different story. I am still playing and paying and I have no intentions of stopping anytime soon. You lost a ton of credit with me when you listed AoC as a game that bombed. It is alive and well and they are still adding new things at a very respectable rate.
I like APB. To be honest, at first I was not happy that it would be a pay to play game. However the more I played it the more I reasoned that I will pay for it as long as it is fun. The customization is nice but the environment I am in when I am in an action district is pretty awesome. No, the game is not as deep as WoW or EQ2 but it has positives that I like. My friends and I enjoy it and we spend time together in the game. This is the biggest plus for me. I am accustomed to paying along with my friends for dedicated servers for games like CoD4, CoD5, BC2, L4D and the like. We have moved past most of those games and now our hard earned cash will go to another game that we like.

ohh...and yes, the game is fun and the kttc promotion + the first month after buying the box is free; thats 60-hours of game-play in the action district...more time than I spend in most single-player games, so yea, worth the box purchase and if I want another month in the action district, I'll pay $6.
Not only more than I spend at McDonalds, but about as much I scrounge from the floor of McDonalds over a month A wash.
This game is not perfect just like any other. Some hate it and some omg luv it.
This isn't an mmo and truly doesn't warrent a subscription fee at this time.
However.. it is a great shooter that you can easily hop in and out of without having to commit hours to stupid dungeons or grind repetitive crap to get epic gear. There are a lacking amount of missions but playing against real people doesn't make it feel that way most times. Hopefully theyll have a giant patch soon after adding all the things they promise.. and if not theyll see their numbers dwindle.
If you don't like this game. Good on you and go away.. If you love it thats awesome too but we don't care to hear it constantly.

I said that ppl already paying for online games. SOme companys all ready charge you for nothing (microsoft) or they wont you too pay for online promising extra features (like psn+ and EA sports,and some AA fps with shops). This is market Reality and we can hardly do anything about.

We had GTA succes that give birth to sandbox games renesance for example.
I think that higher echelons of CO in games companys still see Golden Mountains of wow and trying to have that by imitating wow and adding twist or changing setting.

I like APB becouse it is light very casual experience offering pure fun , with free social. We alredy know that dev are very open for user created content giving us this amazing tools . We can hope that theier expectation are resonable and they let us have fun. Like EVE devs. Give us some basic structure, some hook to organise expirience (like setting and theme) and then fuck off from our sand box. If we have to pay for that cool

I have to agree that the game is a little half-assed, and don't think there should be a monthly payment in its current state.
But the game is not as bad as you're making it out to be, and I think the disappointment you feel is more your fault then it is Realtime Worlds. In all this time waiting for APB to be released, I never got the impression that the game was in depth as you described it. I always knew it would be cops and robbers, GTA gameplay with a limited amount of people. It is the way they marketed it since EA started pushing the game.
People go into these MMO's with wild expectations, and I mean wild. Playing a drug dealer, rapist, serial killer? Really? Seriously dude, tone it down and get real.

Seriously though, you were expecting some glorious PVE experience from this? It's a game with good customisation, and fun PVP missions. That's all it was ever suupposed to be. A game where you could hang out a create for free in the social district, then hope into the Action district for money and fun.

I loved the GTA series, Vice City, San Andreas & GTA4 were all great games. APB looks alot like GTA in an MMO environment but after watching some gameplay videos, I thought to myself "this is going to be another Matrix Online", the missions seem shallow and solo doesn't seem possible, it'll likely die out and sit there for years.

This lol. The game is just a ton of fun. It's also got enough tools for players to get pretty creative and create there own content something I've been looking forward to since UO. Street racing is more than feasible to organize, when the clan warfare and more open zones or districts get added it will be even better.
While APB may seem fairly shallow, the tools that give the player opens up a sandbox style gameplay.
This is actually one of the things I loved about UO. I could hop in and have fun and most of the content was player made. We had festivals and tournaments, we had empty dungeons that we would fill with mobs we tamed and released that we used at gauntlets. I even had a house that I made into an event for the community, First floor was closed off and full of Dragons and Ogre Lords. Second floor had a narrow winding pathway you had to walk without falling. 3rd floor had several teleporters to choose from in which only 1 took you to the 4th and final floor. 4th floor had 3 treasure chests, 2 were trapped 1 had a check for 100k in it. I moved the chest around and changed which teleporter so it was different each time.
Haven't found an MMO that put that much power into a users hands to create there own content which is what made it a sandbox until APB.
DFO and MO both seemed to think it was about being able to simply PvP in a fantasy setting, it wasn't. I am finally getting a more UO-esque type of experience.... it's just odd that it's comming from a Cops and Robbers TPS MMO with a smaller and more instanced world.
Combined that with the fact that the game really is simply a ton of fun and yes lol I will most definitely be paying for it. I would like a more seemless world and a more fantasy-ish environment with some PvE.... but I can overlook a lot of that simply because well the game is the most fun I've had in an MMO in ages lol.
And come on lol... it's only 10 bucks a month or if your like me and plan on having this as a long term side MMO that you can hop in for an hour or two once in awhile to have some fun that 7 dollar 20 hour block of time that doesn't expire is perfect. And that time is used ONLY when you are in the action districts, the social district is free of charge and it's where all the customization takes place.

No they didn't sell me with customization, I was sole the minute I stole a dump truck, rammed it into a car a couple of thugs were hiding by and blew them to kingdom kum. I was sold when every minute I spent in game was fun and not some asinine boring grind.
Yes, there is room for improvement just like there is with any game. I'm simply glad fun wasn't what got put on the back burner.
And yes, I praised other games and not just this one. DFO was one I was a fan of and it was well worth the money for the time I spent in game. I enjoyed a massive server war that I was part of and it was one of the most epic times I've ever had in an MMO. But the fun just wasn't there because you had to go through months and months of grind to get to the fun like you do in every other god awful MMO, the grind killed a lot of players (Notice that this is one of the things missing from APB).
CO I also thought was worth the initial buy, but the game was crud. I loved the combat and the PvP was fun when you could find it but the rest of the game revolved around asinine PvE grind which is boring.
Thats about it, GW I was a fan of and played on and off for awhile but it was simply a b2p so it doesn't count in this discussion.
And what does it matter, again as I stated regardless of what ever you may think of the game I had fun. I will pay for fun because I am simply tired of paying for some asinine grind game that promises fun eventually.

First, it is my money. If I want the game I will pay for it. If I do not, I will not pay for it. I did not pay for Modern Warfare 2 and have no intentions on buying that game because the developers basically took a dump on PC players. Not everyone agrees but that is my take on it. Instead I bought Bad Company 2. It was fun but I have lost interest in it as it is basically the same thing most other shooters are with a few more shiny details. My mistake but I live and learn.
If APB turns out to be a disaster then I will move on just like I did when I got tired of Warhammer Online. Age of Conan is a different story. I am still playing and paying and I have no intentions of stopping anytime soon. You lost a ton of credit with me when you listed AoC as a game that bombed. I loved the GTA series, Vice City, San Andreas & GTA4 were all great games. APB looks alot like GTA in an MMO environment but after watching some gameplay videos, I thought to myself "this is going to be another Matrix Online", the missions seem shallow and solo doesn't seem possible, it'll likely die out and sit there for years.
