Tie between The Secret World and SWTOR... probably secret world, because i already know SWTOR will be great and i'll preorder, but i'd like to beta the secret world to know ahead of time if it'll be worth it.
Eh, I said TOR, but I'm kind of conflicted. On the one hand, I want to get my hands on it ASAP, but on the other, I don't want to ruin any surprises, especially since it's so focused on story. Not fair.
I chose SWTOR. While I'm interested in Guild Wars 2 and FFXIV, I'm more curious about SWTOR. I'm also curious about TERA as well, I'm a little surprised it wasn't in the list. Then again, the game itself seems fairly underhyped, though in my book its not a bad thing.
"For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast, And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed: And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill, And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!" ~Lord George Gordon Byron
GW2 all the way. Until they improve the FFXIV combat it isn't on the top of my list, and TBF, I'm enrolled in a chance for the PS3 beta anyway xD.
GW2 is the only game I see re-inventing the wheel. SW:TOR looks about as generic as one could possibly make a Star Wars MMO...I'm so completely un-impressed with the game right now it's not even funny.
Tough choice between SWTOR, Secret World, and Rift, mainly because they all hold promise, but I'd really like to see if they've taken them in the right direction or if they're going to be dumbed down and have lame mechanics before dropping money on them. GW2 I don't need to beta as it will most likely be awesome in any case, and worst case scenario I drop $50 once and get as much play as I want out of it. The rest I don't really care enough about (though wouldn't mind trying the new FF game)
having played neither, perhaps you could expand on this? What exactly is GW 2 going to bring to the game that SW TOR is lacking?
Reading a few of the content related updates from GW2 would answer your questions. The only two upcoming titles that are really bringing changes, or attempting to substantially change what an MMO consists of are Guild Wars 2 and Rift. TERA's combat looks interesting, but I'm not too hopeful on the title just yet until more information is released.
TOR will probably be quality, but the innovation in the title doesn't match other titles.

I went with Secret World as i am looking forward to that. I know though that SWToR is going to be the next big thing. Also i am looking forward to W40K:DM and WoD as both of these if done right could be awesome.

I have to go with this as well. The Secret World sounds like it could be different in a good way.

That is most likely not true, CCPs world of darkness online will most likely offer a lot of new things also but CCP/White wolf have been very secretive so far.
GW2s dynamic world is the most new thinking thing I heard about in the last 5 years or so. Mythic had actually some plans to make something slightly different but cut it due to costs. The idea of a everchanging open world where you actually can make a difference is great even if we still don't know if they can pull it off or not. it is at the top of my list of interesting games.
I havn't seen that much from TERA, is it really that innovative?
As for TOR I think it will be rather fun but I havn't seen the great innovations of it yet, it look rather fun but nothing that really makes me go wow. That might change later or not.
My list anyways is: GW2 -> WoDO -> Copernicus -> FF XIV -> TOR
That's a hard list to choose from. Think the only ones on there that I'm not real interested in are APB and DC Universe. Nothing against either of those games just don't catch my fancy is all.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
Secret World...Only one that isn't over hyped. Personally I think TOR is horribly overrated and will just be another MMO that sells a ton of boxes but loses most of its players base quickly.

What hes saying is you should learn to read, because its obvious you have no idea. Just rea dup on things like the Dynamic Event System, their interaction of abilities between players, watch the trailers, read up on the trait system, personal storyline, housing, etc
While there ar emany things that they keep as far as a standard MMO expectation, theyre expanding on and improving some of those things in several ways, and in other areas being very innovative and original, especially a sfar as MMOs go.
SW:TORs only "innovative" thing, is to make it 100% voice acted, and thats something i wouldnt call innovative at all, its simply adding more and more of the same exact feature that already exists in several other MMOs. Their "innovative" companion system has already pretty much been done too, though granted it sounds like they very slightly improved it by incorporating it in the story a bit more, but not enough for me to consider it even remotely new & exciting, ive already played the companion system and then some in Phantasy Star (had both NPC companions involved in the story which you could take on missions with you outside of that storyline and were also based on your class/race, as well as pets which you evolved and made your own and eventually took into battle too) as one example.

Chose SWTOR, but only because i couldn't choose both it and FF.
went with SWTOR because its the one I'm looking forward too most

Went with other because I'm interested in seeing what eventually happens with WH40K and WoD.
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?
Explorer: 87%, Killer: 67%, Achiever: 27%, Socializer: 20%
Between GW2 and RIFT i chose RIFT, hopefully it'll be similar to VG, with some upgrades/support

GW 2 much more inovative than SW TOR

My vote is on RIFT, Priest in armor is just pure epic twist.

I picked SWTOR as it's the one I'm most ambivalent about, and would want the opportunity to see for myself.

I chose Rift, but now I wish I would have chosen The Secret World..
Atleast that way Id have a first hand look at if the game is worthy of buying come release. (Ala AOC)
