Haha jk but looks like im gonna have to just sell this and invest in a desktop which seems like the smartest route to go.
It's the cheapest atleast. There's a pretty good gaming Asus laptop at like 1.2k~, but that specific model apparently is having problems in beta, requires some bios tinkering, a lot of people seem to have it because of its great specs though.
Eh i got a laptop for school which always just sits in my apartment so might as well go desktop.
Just created craigslist add and ebay listing for this hp haha really tryna slang it for atleast $500 considering i bought it for 8 and its like 7 months old.
I have just overclocked my Q6600 2.4 to 3.0. I ran Intel burn in test and passed after 10 runs. I locked my PCI-E express to 100 disabled C1E,Vanderpool,Max Xpuid and Speedstep. My score with my new GTX 460 jumped from 3300-3400ish to 4200. I know I'll be buying a new motherboard and cpu soon since it looks like my cpu is holding me back. My question is they say to lock your PCI bus speed to 32 as well, my PCI frequency is defaulted to 64 should I really drop it to 32?

No, the only reason to ever change your normal pci bus is for stability. The newer pci is fine at 66mhz anyway.
I didn't post my first result, posting this now, hoping to help people with scores lower than they expected. I saw that lots of people using my GPU got much higher results than mine so I've decided to overclock the CPU just a little bit to see if it makes any difference. I new that CPU is bottlenecking me a bit but didn't know that it matters that much.
The GPU is 5850 and CPU is e8200. I overclocked the CPU to 3.2 Ghz from 2.67 (it's pretty much the safest minimum for this CPU) and got up from 3000 to almost 3700 on high. Would advice everybody with a little understanding of overcloking and graphic cards better than their CPUs (otherwise, it might not give such a good effect) try looking into overcloking your CPU at least a little bit.
Good luck!

OK so how many of you have run this on a laptop? I thought I would be good to go with this game, as My Laptop is not even a Year old and Ive got an Alienware M17x with An Intel T9600 2.8GHz dual core processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and dual NVIDIA 260 GTX 1GB cards in SLI. However I only Score 379 on Low Rez and 196 on high. This doesnt seem right at all to me. I can run LOTRO and AION on MAX settings in 1900X1200 on this Machine with no lag. I can also run Modern Warfare 2 on Max, and Battlefield Bad Company 2 on almost max online with very little lag. Are the specs for this game really that much higher? I updated my GPU driver on the NVIDIA page and only gained a couple points. What do you all think about this?
I will be disappointed if I cant run this game but Im not replacing My whole Machine just to play it after only owning it for a year.

Yeah, that's not right at all...only thing I can think is maybe it's running with the 2d (power save) clock speeds set instead of 3d.
Also, have you tried disabling sli or doing the full screen hack?

I just am starting to wonder if this benchmark wasnt made for laptop hardware even running the full screen hack my high score is 201. I cant figure out how dual 1gig NVIDIA 260GTX mobile cards are not enough for anything on the market now. I have never even had an issue running anything else that came out this past year on this Machine. I realize the T9600 2.8Ghz dual core CPU is by far from the best on the market now. But It is one of the Best model dual cores Intel ever made I think, so I just dont understand and with 4GB DDR3 RAM, I could Upgrade this M17x to 8GB but I dont think that will really make a diff. since I doubt the game can use more than a couple gig anyhow. I thought I would try to post the "Burn in" tests they included with my system specs. I mean pretty darn good scores 1 year ago. Its crazy how fast the Market of PCs is still gaining exponentially. I remember when A good comp would last at least 3 years without doing much. Now your lucky if you can make it 6 months. I know Desktops are cheaper to build and much easier to upgrade, but I travel around alot and like to take my gaming rig on the road. so I wanted to get a very decent gaming laptop. Guess I may have to rethink this in the future unless i want to drop 2-3k a year on new Laptop.

You can always look into the ViDock 4. I run the ViDock 2 and it defnitely is saving me in the long run. Can keep using it when I buy my next laptop and the ViDock will still outperform whatever GPU my laptop has. (Only annoying this is I need a monitor to use the thing... But I personally don't play games when I have my laptop on the go.)
However, you'll want to see if your PCI-E slot is x1, x16, etc. That'll pretty much dictate how efficient it is.
I just got a new gpu so I'll post my old and new results.
I have a core i7 920 @ 3,4 GHz
Ati 4850 @ 655 MHz
low: 3528
high: 1856
MSI gtx 460 1GB @ 800 MHz
low: 5243
high: 2917
I was expecting to perhaps go above 3000 on high with my new gpu and I can go there with a little larger overclock, so I'm ok.
Yep... the 460 is a mighty piece of gear for the price.
I just installed my MSI 460GTX 1Gb this evening and immediately ran the obligatory tests
To set the stage...
My system is a Dell 630i, with the 650i motherboard. My CPU is a Core2 Duo E8200 and I have 4Gigs of high performance RAM.
"Pretty weak system", you're thinking. I agree... but it gets better!
My particular model of the 650i Mobo is still PCI-Express 1.0. *And*... for the cherry on top, for this particular model Dell opted for having the x16 PCI-E bus limited to x8... supposedly something to do with wanting the system to be compatible with both SLI and Crossfire... Whatever.
What it says to me is: "Bloody Bumbling Bottlenecks, Batman!".
To top it off, I've been running on a cheap-o 9500GT (had a 8800GT but it fried, so the 9500 was a quick and cheap hold-over.. still good for a back-up card should I ever need one)
So... now on to the important bits...
On my current setup, with the 9500GT, I got the following:
Vana'diel Benchmark:
Low Quality: 920
High Quality: 458
PassMark:
Graphics Score: 383.4
Here are the results with the 460:
On 460GTX:
Low Quality: 3039 (3x improvement)
High Quality: 2410 (5x improvement)
Passmark:
Graphics Score: 2376 (6x improvement)
So needless to say, I'm a happy camper. For one, since I have no intention of playing FFXIV at the resolution they use for High settings on the FFXIV Benchmark (1900x1200 I think), do not intend to have AO turned on (a serious cycle hog) I'm expecting the game to be quite playable. Also, keep in mind that the benchmark is *not* a good indication of how the game itself runs on the same hardware.
The other good part is, when I do upgrade my system to a better CPU, PCI-E 2.0 and an un-neutered x16 bus (which will be in the next month or so hopefully), it's going to improve even further.
So... Yep... the 460's a mighty piece o' gear.

you maybe should have saved your money. gtx260, just ran the benchmark and got 3040 on low res. I think the 480's power is hindered by your other pc parts as you already have alluded to.
I've been tweaking the new system and my NVidia 260GTX. Found my best OC settings with rock stable stability and safe temps.
You can see some of the details by clicking my signature. Basically AMD Phenom II 1055T running at 4.06 Ghz, fast FSB, Northbridge and ram settings. 260GTX OC'd to 696/1454/1194. I also turn off uneeded background apps using AMD's Fusion app with the "Gaming" setting.
Low Res: 4945
High Res: 2934
I think that about my limit with the 260GTX and I also don't plan to push the CPU any further (very pleased to have a 301 mhz ref Bus, 2700Mhz NB and DDR 3 running smooth at 1600Mhz (800x2). At this point, I just don't see any point in spening $300+ on a current gen video card. I'll wait for the next generation and see how the product line ups/pricing shake out.
I'm one of those who upgraded to a new rig in order to run this game, among other things. Although I am running a laptop, I meet and beat the system requirements by quite a fair margin. However, I am still unable to catch even an "acceptable" score on the benchmark.
The strangest part of this is that, aside from a small bit of a graphical lag, the benchmark seems to run pretty flawlessly, even on my mid range machine. Is it a good idea to assume that, even with poor benchmark scores, I should still be able to run the released product?

I'm on the 460, and yeah, my other components are definitely a huge bottleneck. I'm running on a 4-lane freeway with 3 lanes closed for construction and the lead car driving at 1/2 the allowed speed. Frankly, I'm amazed the improvement over my 9500GT is as good at it is.
I'm upgrading my system in the next month or so and expect my low score will go up to over 4k, my high score will likely go over 3k, possibly better, based on the results I'm seeing from others who have similar setups to what I'll have.
So, I think the money spent was well worth it.

Windows 7 Home Professional (64-bit)
Intel Core i5 M 450 @ 2.4o GHz
4 Gigs RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470
280 Gig Hard Drive
Any info would be appreciated.
I can't say with any specificity... but I'm fairly sure the word "laptop" has something to do with it. Perhaps someone else can elaborate more.

My Score on Low-Quality: 761 =/
My specs:
Dell Studio 15(1558)
Windows 7 Home Professional (64-bit)
Intel Core i5 M 450 @ 2.4o GHz
4 Gigs RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470
280 Gig Hard Drive
Any info would be appreciated.

I can't say with any specificity... but I'm fairly sure the word "laptop" has something to do with it. Perhaps someone else can elaborate more.
