Earth and Beyond was fun 8 years ago. I feel so old.
its funny, the more im playing e n b the more im thinking its a lot like sto, but with a better skill system, crafting that is meaningful, better exploration, no cash shop and no monthly fee. similar , but better in many ways (graphics arent as good, and theres no pvp) and free. im playing it till something new catches my attention.

Eve Online is a great game, as long as you don't have A.D.D.
OMG. I have a friend that has A.D.D so bad the poor guy can,t even carry on a conversation but OMG he plays EvE online like a god, the guy has 6 accounts now and dual 60" monitors. Every time I go to his house I drool. The dude blows my mind talking EvE theory and explaining stuff and EvE concepts, everytime I leave his house my head is spinning. If you are new to EvE and you play Solo and have no people skills or social abilities NO you won't like it. EvE is a game unlike no other and you MUST communicate with others and MUST get in a player run Coorporation ASAP>! And some player run coorps just don't have a clue either you MUST find one that does! And you will be amazed at what goes on in the universe that 70 % of the players have no idea about....

Oh please. The only thing complex about EvE is figuring out how such a sad arsed boring game has lasted this long. It has very little that can't be found in pretty much any other PvP oriented mmo, and what it does have that is unique to it is dull dull dull dull.

Not really. It is a niche game, open ended, and doesn't tell you what quest you have to do next or that you have to speak to Mr. Blahblah in X City to get your next one. You don't even have to do missions at all if you don't want to. Everything in game happens because of player actions. Closest thing to it might be Anarchy Online, Pirates of the Burning Sea, or those Evony style games. Even if it is boring people stick with it because there is no strong alternative and they will give it high ratings because it really is something different from the usual cookie cutter mmo. Sad gaming companies have not expanded on this to make other open universe style games. Games are still stuck in a sort of interactive movie mode.. where there is a main storyline with side quests that you do till you max level, then after that it's dailies and raids to keep you going, or you can repeat the storyline with an alt.
After six years playing it I still get a buzz from blowing someone up.
One problem with EVE is CCP are clueless about improving fleet lag. They keep telling everyone "we'll get it sorted out" but have been repeating the same message every year for several years without much sign that they're really doing anything about it. Despite the problem players still go in to fleet fights and put up with the lag.
Anyone who finds EVE dull either hasn't put much effort in to it or are lacking in imagination. It's up to you to make the fun for yourself and if not then try Kitty Online or some other simple MMO.

The emulator people even added the missing races! That's so cool.
The only only one is Eve really. For a smaller/older one theres Darkspace, but it doesn't have many players left and isn't really an MMORPG (more like an MMORTS). Though it's a lot more combat, player skill and tactics focused than Eve.
Keep an Eye on Infinity: quest for earth. Looks very good, but no one actually knows if or when it will ever get released :P

it is better tham master of orion 3, which may not be an mmo, but i could make a fair argument that sto isn't either.
