Do you people really think they will shut the game down? Seriously? How many games can you guys name that have actually shut down? I can think of 4 out of Hundreds of MMO maybe thousands that have actually shut down.
Oh and stop blaming EA for WAR this was all Mythics mess, I played DAoC loyally for 5 years and was the biggest Mythic fanboy but they screwed the pooch on this and it had nothing to do with EA.
Bioware know how to make games and Bioware are effectively now the adoptive parents to the adopted child mythic, they are taking it over and looking into it. If they look after it correctly no reason why it cannot bounce back.
I am playing it and am active, I have been thinking about going back to wow but PvP wise the best weapons pretty much come from hc raiding which is upside down and raiding is really yucky to me.
The only way people will flood out of this game is if a good casual friendly PvP game is released, maybe Tera or GW2. I love the fact from day 1 I can play the same game as I would at endgame in a useful and character productive way. Until then there is no other game for the players of war.
My personal dilema is my wife still plays wow and refuses to play anything else and my son dabbles in pretty much anything. So I dont know where I will end up.
Yea right, like SWG was supposed to die in 2005, by the end of 2006, surely hitting the coffin by christmas 2007, not be a able to survive another 6 months in 2008, be put out of its prolonged misery in 2009 and surely will not see the end of 2010 alive...
Wake the f*** up people, games on life support can yield money for a looooong time, especially if they had huge budgets in the first place.

There are far more than 4 games that have shut down
Just off the top of my head
The matrix online, the sims online, horizons (a few times), saga of ryzom (a few times), dark and light, shadowbane, tabula rasa, auto assault, hellgate: london, asherons call II, Endless saga, Gods and Heroes and lets not forget these two.
Earth and Beyond (shut down by EA)
Motor City Online (shut down by EA)
That isn't even including games that were shut down right before they were ready to release.
Yes I think EA will shut down warhammer just like they have with every single mmo project they have gotten invovled with. If warhammer were doing well then they wouldn't, but warhammer continues to cycle through cost cutting measures over and over. Eventually there will be nothing left to cut.
So much negativity. I have to keep asking myself if we've played the same game. I'm still enjoying it, there isn't another mmo out there that does what war does besides doac. Of course if your thing is PvE then WAR isn't for you.
I quit playing WAR a little bit ago, but I had a lot of fun in the game most of the time. With a slightly new dev team they seem to be making some nice improvements with the new city raid thing. Thing with WAR is the end game as with all MMO's, is just same old thing over and over, with WAR unfortunatley the lack of a full world hurts it even more. Since it is broken into Tiers, you can't have fun harrassing a town in lower level areas etc like you can do in WoW. I think the lack of a full global like world hurts WAR more than is realized. The shrinking player base makes the game useless during non prime time hours as well. In a PvP based game, having full servers is critical. They mind as well just go down to two servers or something if it can keep them close to full.
The EU servers where merged into 2 quite a while back and have had a very stable and active population ever since. From what I've seen of the US servers the are a couple out of the 5 or six that would definitely benefit from a merge. Once you get the core playerbase into the same servers the population stabalises and there are enough of those core players to keep a minimum of 2 very active servers in each region going.

Its what they ended up doing, a bit back. Dark Crag, and Phoenix Throne had no life... so they got merged with the remaining four servers for NA. It helped out quite a bit for the people left, but i fore see them cutting it down to two servers, by the end of the year.

If they paid me to play i would still find it almost impossible to motivate myself. Terrible game that will die soon *hurrah*
