Struggling with a name - will probably just hammer the keyboard till something name-like appears Other than that, I might fall back onto a name generator of some kind.
As for race, I'm going to probably go for something that simply looks good. I don't want to try min-maxing - from what I've read it seems to be everyone starts pretty much evenly, and with training, everyone has the ability to be fun. Or a fun target, at least
So I will likely go with something that I like the look of.

Now when I try entering EVE, it sais theres 0 people online, and its not accepting any loggins at the moment. So might it be up sooner or later now? Lets hope so.

In terms of 'attractive' the Khanid Amarr female, Caldari Achura female, Gallente Jin-Mei female, Minmatar Brutor female. Males, anything but those 4. Its like the race and sub races they put all the appeal in the females for got all the fugly male chars.

EvE is a fraternity. What happens in EvE stays in EvE. I will bitch when thier forums come back up. Untill then, I'm not saying boo. When Cryptic or Blizzard manage to get an EvE like MMO they will get that kind of loyalty.

1. if Blizzard did this you would know that all the fanbois would start emoraging..
2. nothing CCP does can be compared to what SOE d0 (and did) to their customers.
If CCP want to be as bad as $OE they would have to:
-strip all shiptypes except 2.
-make every valuable asset ingame useless.
-delete every thread on the forums not made by fanbois.
-let all devs go apart from 1 who makes sure that the hardware keeps on running.
-pubicly declare that they care sh@t about the customers.
-bug up 90% of all missions/plexes ingame.
-play on the server with 500 ppl

Thank you for that Will prolly go with the Amarr Khanid or the Caldari Achura. Not too fussed of being a female avatar to be honest. Have also found a couple of name generators which I am going to tinker with and go from there.
Of course, I will prolly put off activating the account till either later today, or even tomorrow morning - because with the servers still in testing, it'll be my luck I'll create a character, the servers will get a rollback, and I'll have to start over

After an unexpectedly long downtime following the physical relocation and updating of the Tranquility server cluster, we welcome you back to the EVE universe. For those of you not following along at www.eveonline.com, Twitter and Facebook, we discovered an issue during the final testing of the database configuration which, once fixed, required a few more layers of testing before we could begin the process of bringing the server back online. This downtime has been unprecedented in many ways and CCP understands its responsibility to address it as such. Once our database team catches some sleep, they will write a dev blog detailing the delay, our decision process for extending the downtime and the steps we took to bring back New Eden as stable as possible. That will be posted in the dev blog section on www.eveonline.com.
In gratitude for your patience, we will give an extra pool of skillpoints to all accounts (paying and trial) that were active at the beginning of this downtime, on one character per account. This skillpoint pool will be appropriately sized for the downtime time frame, universal across all accounts regardless of character attributes/implants and may be applied as each player wants.
This will be done through a new system in the development pipeline, currently scheduled for deployment next Tuesday’s patching opportunity* during regularly scheduled downtime. Since it has been “hot dropped” into the development plans, we will be providing step-by-step instructions for how to use it as soon as possible.

Im not seeing a difference but to be honest playing in Damn near empty low sec and empire on a alt i havent had an issue with lag/bugs.
There'sa poston one of the official forums that there's lots of lag in Jita, and people are moaning that nothing has been fixed and so on... Though that may be the sheer amount of people logging in all at once, or that the servers might not be running optimally as yet.

IM like two jumps from Jita in a system with near 100 players and im getting no such undock lag.
Im happily flying around on my Mission/exploration alt zooming around in my ishtar without a care in the world.
Once this so called lag (lag that im not seeing) settles down can someone in Null tell me how stability is in Fleet. Do the whole warping and jumping from gate to gate thing.

When they say DB issues, are we talking player character DB issues or general game DB issues?
db usually contains it all.. .characters, login info, loot, rankings, npc-s, ships,ores,planets etc.
And since they took down web.. i guess forums too. ... I wonder...didnt they do a full backup before a such a massive move?
