Whatever conditions are attached to it, those players are leaning towards not continuing their subscriptions. No one has anyway of predicting how they will change their minds. What "hotfixes regularly" means to you may be different from what "hotfixes regularly" means to them.
That said, who gives a damn about an internet poll? Seriously, it's the internet.

Pardon, sirs, but the second NO option is a Yes. "Yes, i will stay but keep patching and making the game better". Any Psychologist can tell that as true.
This thread shows that only 16% of the subscribers don't want to resub. I think this poll says lots, that most of the players like MO and will resub now when MO will continue to improve and add stuff into MO.
Note that this vote is done where only actual customers are allowed vote. So it's a very valid poll, because people not having played the game can't vote.
What kills me is that they are bothering to argue over bull sh*t semantics when it comes to some silly poll... Look at the actual numbers of pre-orders to those still playing the game smart guys. Does it really matter if 50% said they would re-sub, when that 50% totals 300 people lol...

This is how statistics works. I will admit, however, that the sample size is pretty small and based only on players who frequent the forums.

How is 1,000 people representative for five million people, yet that's how they happen to do opinion polls. It is not the number of people voting that really makes this data un-reliable but the forum within which the vote is cast. Although admittedly Mortal Online's official forum is the best place to hold such a vote it still suffers heavily from missing the great masses of "normal" players: on forums you normally see angry players and overly happy players. Others are glooming the game whilst others are praising it, whereas likely most of the players are rather indifferent and will make their decision on totally different standards than those who frequent the forums.
In the end, it is not solely about retention rate but also the rate with which you can allure new gamers to the game and I feel that with this Mortal Online is struggling even more. The bad reputation the game managed to gain during its beta testing will certainly haunt the game for quite some time and if they do not release free trial they can but hope to get many new customers to replace those quitting. After all, every game will have many quitters after each month -- you just have to have more those who are replacing those leaving.
Lack of small patch is the reason why i dont buy darkfall online. OMG!!! Imbalance!!! After one year, the same imbalance is still there. WTF!!!
Mortal online small patch is what make me want to buy the game. I played MO in a friend beta account and all i could see was the potential. Open beta, still some lack and lags and all that, but again, all i could see was potential so i kept beliving in that game. Now, they focus on small patche and listen to feed backs, im buying the game.
This thread shows that only 16% of the subscribers don't want to resub.
LMAO.
Every other mmo has around 20 to 30% retention rate, but the buggy half finished MO beta client has 86%?
Sure I believe you.
Well you gotta keep in mind the amount of users that actually kept the game pre ordered and purchased it. Most of them bought it knowing it was coming out like that, or had already pre ordered it and just wanted to keep playing.
Open beta, still some lack and lags and all that, but again, all i could see was potential so i kept beliving in that game.
"Having potential" is the mark of most failed mmos.
Yea, so many mmos had potential. Today I won't put my money on a game before I see this potential realised ingame anymore. It's extremely rare for an mmo "having potational" to get the needed ressources to make something out of it.
Today when I see a game that "has potential" for me its a failure already.
The game is not fun to play whatsoever. The graphics are terrible for what was promised, the gameplay is early beta at best, and the game mechanics are not all there. I am so mad at myself for believing the hype on this game. I have been and stuck through some terrible launches and played bad games for months hoping they would get better. I do not see this game being playable for the majority anytime soon.
The only people i see playing are people who paid lots of monoey for the collectors edition so thay have a lot riding on the game, and those who like to grief or exploit. The rest of the playerbase are people who have nothing better to do. The game may be "improving" as you say, but it has a long way to ge before it gets to where it should have been at "launch"

Ok, so you don't like the graphics. Does that mean the animations, textures, trees, clouds, what? For anyone reading your post to glean any information beyond your like/dislike of something you need to include more detail. The same would go for the gameplay. What specific aspects of the gameplay do you not like? Which game mechanics which are missing annoy you?
Since much of the discussion so far has been about that poll and it's reliability, T'll just note another that shows 63% planning to resub. http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/45778-resub-poll.html In that poll, even many of the posters voting "no" indicated that they would resub if some things were improving.
For the previously cited poll, many of the people choosing the "no, unless X improves" may intend to resubscribe regardless of "X" but voted the way they did in hopes that some dev reading the poll would push up the priority of "X". This is just one more bias in what many of us seem to agree is an unreliable poll.
All this being said, I think the only reliable assertion that can be made on the basis of these polls is: Of those people answering polls on the official mortal online forums, approximately 60 % say they plan to resubscribe. What that ACTUALLY means about subscription numbers depends on a lot of things we just don't know (how many have already left?, how many don't read the forums/just don't like voting in polls?, etc. etc)
Just a note that all 3 of the polls you linked were from before the forums were subscriber only... thus had the ability to be manipulated with fake accounts. The poll discussed in this thread was created after the forum change and thus only current subscribers could vote. Is it accurate? Won't know until next week... but it should be a more reliable gauge than the 3 polls you listed.
It's also more recent. Though I am sure someone will create a new one shortly

If you played the game prior to the latests patch you would be really suprised with melee combat now. No more delay between the time you press the mouse button, and an action occurs. The instant you press LMB your character starts to draw the sword up.
Melee combat just improved 1000 fold. From implimenting dmg based on charge time, to the responciveness of the controls.

Yes, the melee is really nice now. I love it. The archery have been balanced to.

This is what I've been thinking as I read this thread - I have to admit I was curious about this game and prolly would have tried a trial or something of it, but considering the OP is representative of the caliber of august personages remaining in its population, I'm actually not going to even look at MO, let alone sub.

Why not even look at it? MO is great and is rapidly improving. I have lots of fun. The best melee, crafting etc ... even done in any MMO.

The folks not re-subbing far out-weigh those that will, thats the bottom-line.
