You have gamers that like WoW and bash other games for not being WoW. You have gamers that hate WoW and bash everything for tring to be like WoW. I think the real issue is a lot of gamers are frustrated with thier current game, whatever it is, and just want to bash everything that they think is similar. Things are kind of stale right now so that creates lot's of bashing. 2011 will be an interesting year for MMO's. It will be fun to watch the fighting the rest of this year in most posts on any forum.

because most MMOs out there create their world and mechanics "inspired" by World of warcraft, what they forget is that WoW has had many years to polish and make sure everything works according to plan, they also made sure to release the features complete and unbroken, other games will mimic its features (thinking of SWG NGE with the expertise tree, which is the same thing as the talent trees in WoW) and its made clumsily without thought and background to it.

He doesn't, it is just the thing of marketing, same as ppl would say Iphone4 is better when it clearly, based on real facts, is not. But blidness and noninformation is sickness which affects majority of population so I don't blame them too much...
WoW isn't necessarily better but it is popular, cheap, has an established base of players, is easy or hard matching player level and interest in challenge, and can afford to employ quality dev's who will make the theme park attractive to the tiny minds of the spellbound masses.

SOE games suck, and always will, and you just got to accept the fact. Vantard is just funny, and the Vanbois always attacked WoW, heck even the hack Pres of Sigil (Sigil=DECEASED-HAHA) attacked WoW.
My gauntlets thrown is get some players then prove HOW GOOD THE GAME IS, but first you better crack about 5 million players to have any chance of comparing whatever crappy game you play to WoW.

before WoW came out there was a small selection of MMORPGs, i played UO for a long time before jumping into SWG, just because they where MMORPGs, when WoW came out hordes of people jumped to play it. because of "Warcraft: orcs & humans" and Warcraft 2 Tides of Darkness, then came Warcraft 3 reign of chaos. then you come out with a living breathing world based on these 3 famous titles... everyone who played those would of course jump in and invite their friend and suddenly you are playing it because your friends are playing it, and your little brother who has never played any Warcraft games will try WoW and since its easy to play, and user friendly he will like it too!
i wasn't to much on the warcraft games (though i did play them to no end) but i prefered the Diablo series
I usually see the opposite. People usually despise and degrade WoW (at least on these forums) at every turn.
For me, I play what I like. And WoW is the best MMO i've ever played. I've tried most MMOs (except maybe some obscure asian ones). I don't really care if anyone hates WoW for whatever reason. Play whatever you like. I'm guessing many haters don't really know what they like, or have some dream MMO that is probably impossible or very unlikely to happen.
Because we are utterly incapable of judging a game based on its own merits and must always compare it to whatever plays most similarly. Since most MMOs play like WoW, we compare them to WoW. Another example would be people comparing Darkfall and MO to another sandbox, like UO.

So biggest overwhelming part is in diapasone of IQ 90 - 110.
And that was target market hit by WoW and they hit what they wanted - numbers.

As far as movies, newspapers, TV shows and the vast majority of "mainstream" media, they all target a 6th grade comprehension level. Video game developers would be flat out dumb to not follow the same path. It really isn't focused on IQ as it is reading level.

WOW fans that nerd rage here are burned out on the game but cant get away from it or they would be playing and not posting here. I played WOW for a couple years off and on and it was ok but not something that utterly consumed my life to the point I couldnt put it down. Im very opinionated at times but some are over the top with their hatred for not only WOW but other games and game companies. There are some here that blast SOE every chance they get no matter what SOE game is being discussed and to me are no different than the WOW haters STO haters and on and on or the mouth foaming WOW fans that you see now and then. I think if things get to the point where the deep end is the only place to go its time to leave the keyboard and maybe go outside for a bit?
WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.

Because it is better... 70% of the mmos ive tried arent worth the subs ive paid.

I enjoy many things about WoW and don't think its a bad game. Ultimately, its a matter of preference. I enjoy the game. I enjoy other MMOs.
