After learning a lot from a previous thread I've made which I find out the the current state of MMO's are all bad really, I've decided to settle with Aion and now have resubbed. Well I chose this because of these listed reasons.

1. Lost my WoW account to hackers and is currently banned.

2. Codemasters themselves lost my Lord of the Rings account.

3. Everquest 2 graphics work poorly when running on my high powered computer.

So that's the top 3 gone off from me. Personally I don't think Aion is that bad, it has good graphics, aerial combat and great character creation. As far as I'm aware the servers are going to merge so I'm wondering now what European server is worth rolling a new character onto. If nobody has any answers then should I always roll on the server with the best influence of either faction I pick?

Also, any good Legion/guilds whatever you call them?

I would like to go back into Aion because I definitely do love the superb graphics. For someone like me that is a big draw to have a character that looks very sexy, not something old and blocky-looking. Aion also had a decent feel and was very smooth combat. I just thought it needed more variety to its playing, but otherwise I could see myself coming back if I could deal with the grind and the irritation of the bots.

If I were you I would roll elyos on an elyos dominated server, then just take the time to see who is pvping, and who is getting involved if there is any legions that are sticking out, go from there. The contribution system is somewhat accurate legion wise if you watch them over the course of a week, those legions are usually goin to pvp and ap grind more than others.

I'd have to say i agree with the subject title. Sometimes i wonder why this site is so popular if every post is just hating on the subject game.

Play whatever game you want. Why do you even care what peoples say here anyway. You enjoy it and that's all it matters.

Btw I remember a post from you a while back. You were part of the haters too.

Me? Only thing i've posted was asking for proof that WoW was stolen from Warhammer... if that counts as hating thats kind of sad, i'm sorry that i'm not a person who studies games histories for points where i can flame them.

You shouldn't have listened to the haters in the first place.  Just because people hate something doesn't mean you will hate it.  The only way to find out is by trying it yourself and form your own opinion.  If you listened to every person on a forum you would never play any MMO, ever.  I've never came across a MMO that was universally loved.

I'm not sure about Europian servers, but I would do some research to find out what kind of activities go on on each server.  Even though all of them are PvPvE, certain servers might lean more towards PvP or PvE.

Rudy, you play what you want to play. I have never been the one to play what others do just because it is popular or just because someone else does, I play the game if it is fun to me. I hope you have fun with Aion.

Good for you Rudy. I hope you enjoy the game. Im looking around for something myself.

WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.

Well that was before I realised how foolish I was for listening to what other people have said about it. I'm fed up of hating something that wasn't bad in the first place. =p

Some games do a better job of hiding the fact that it's a grind. Relative to other Korean MMO's Aion isn't too bad, but it sill wears it's grindtastic nature on its sleeve like a badge of honor.

Have fun with the brick wall of a grind you have to climb over.  If you make it post here so we can all congratulate/pitty you.

Good for you! I'm kind of leaning towards your line of reasoning as well. Not so much the Aion part, but the whole pick the lesser of all evils and just enjoy the game for what it is. I don't think I will ever find the perfect game for me. Unfortunately I love the social aspects of MMOs so "good enough" will have to do.

If you let others opinions dictate your life your just a waste of space.  Kudos to the OP for not being a sheep.

OP is right all MMO's are Grinds and that Includes WOW for all you fanboys out there. I was fed up with aion after a while but then I found myself going back to it after trying All sorts of other MMO's, among them being EVE, D&D, Age of Conan, Warhammer and even went back to WOW.

Aion is a great game but just doesn't have enough content if you played it constantly since launch then you would have pretty much experienced most if not all of the game but the expansion is due soon and to day the servers are merging.

So here is a message for all the haters: shut up if you haven't got anything constructive to say.

    1. It's not a grindfest if you compare it to the major MMO's out there, especially not since the XP and rewards have been increased by QUITE A BIT during the last patch.

    2. The graphics are great and the sound and music is great as well

    3. The combat is by far the best thing about Aion, nice and smooth and you really actually feel powerfull!

Good on you for going back to Aion. Enjoy!

It's not a grindfest in comparison to other Korean MMO's, but it's still a grindfest.  Taste in graphics is too subjective to comment on. I've seen a lot of textures in Aion that simply weren't finished. The combat is like WoW except you press a button twice. I like Aion, but it has its share of problems. My biggest gripe is the lack of content. Two instances at 50, one instanced PVP map (really just PVE), Sieges, and world PVP. I had more fun playing a Sin twink at 34 than playing at 50.

I'm not a hater despite my criticism. I think Aion has/had a lot of potential to be a fun PVP game, but it hasn't come to fruition because the Korean developers don't develop for the western market, and NCSoft west doesn't even have access to their own database. I had fun in Aion, but it simply lacks content and ultimately is a punishing game to play at times. I'm pretty level headed, but after failing to proc HHoM five times I raged and unsubd. Over two months of Chinese farmer mode work only to have it explode five times.

You need to get yourself an Antivirus, but yeah I am resubbing too, my experiences in this site tells me that if the people of this sites tells me to go Right I should go Left.

You'll not go wrong with Aion tbh,  it is a quality game.  Even if you dont play it for longer than a few months you'll still be getting your moneys worth.

Because MMORPG.com's forums at some point became a mini-4chan specifically for MMO trolls.

Aion's graphics are the best compared to all current MMO's out there, that is a fact. There are some landscapes that have bad looking textures, I agree, but really dude.... It's MUCH better than any other MMO's graphics out there.

As for the Combat being like WoW? I don't think so mate, Does Wow have Martial arts combat? Nope. Because The melee combat is absolutely gorgeous! and again the graphics and animation for the combat in Aion is definitely much better than WOW. And no you can't deny that, because it's a matter of fact. If you have played Aion than you should know that. Any reader that doesn't believe me? Go to youtube and check out the combat gameplay footage for both games.

I'm guessing that by the pressing a button twice you mean the chain moves, that is a much better system than wow instead of having to press 1, 2, 3 ,4 , 5 ,6 etc... you just tap the one button to perform that action along with it's chain moves and then you move on to the next. Otherwise you will have way Too many hotbars just like WOW, which will only increases the pain of my RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) lol.

I do have to agree with you on the lack of content mate, but here is the question. Did you not thoroughly enjoy the game before you got to the End game? I know I did, and then when I got to end game, I just created an alt and levelled that instead and enjoyed it again.

The other downside is the incredible lag during MASS fortress sieges, but when you remove the models and reduce the graphics it's still enjoyable. Although I do wish that I didn't have to do that.

The game is not perfect but it is in my opinion definitely better than the current MMO's out there (even with the lack of content).

Having said that, I'm tired of MMO's for the time being, Playing Mass Effect 2 at the moment and playing some DLC's for Dragon Age: Origins. Nothing beats single player games, but who knows maybe Starwars the Old republic might change that. Eh?
