The next poll that was mutilated (if you can find it please link it as I think SV destroyed it) had over 400 votes with 40%leaving and that was prior to the steel exploit insanity.
The only poll that had35% leavingwas the last onehttp://www.mortalonline.com/forums/49671-day-13-you-going-resub.htmlwith just 333 votes, 118 less votes than previously. Now where do you suppose those 118 people went? Had those 118 people were actually still playing and voted the result would be upside down to what you claim resulting in 2/3 leaving and 1/3 remaining, which I think is far closer to the truth.
Finally at the end of this fiasco once the subs expired for those who left and ability to post on the subscriber forum terminated, another thread was started inviting those who renewed to post.entitled "If you HAVE resub'ed, let folks know..." http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/49803-if-you-have-resubed-let-folks-know.html Today is the 5th day of that thread and only 139 posts have been made and about 19 of them are duplicates from the same posters leaving approximately 120 players saying they resubbed.
From June 30th to July 8th the MO forum was able to attract 451 players to vote in the 50% leaving, 50% staying poll.
On July 14th when those leaving are out the door the forums can barely attract a little over 100 players to acknowledge they renewed on the last thread linked above.
Pick any percent you want to believe. The OP asked about the State of the Game and he/she can decide if this information speaks to it or not. He/she wouldn't be the first to find out for themselves; just a good idea to be honest up front to avoid rage on the way out. Opinion is one thing; deception quite another.
Despite the amount of people who have left after the free month the game remains populated and many towns crowded during primetimes. So polls or no polls the games population is great for the time being.
The "backup" you've presented supports a ~65% retention rate. Those are the objective facts, supported by polling data, supplied by you.
Your analysis - which is the ONLY thing that supports anything else - is not a fact. It's a guess. An opinion. Nothing more.
I have to ask this much, do you really believe people that don't play the game are going to come and vote if they are resubbing or not?
The poll is skewed to show more people subbing than not, for obvious reasons -- because the people who gave up on the game entirely are not coming back to vote on a poll whether they are playing the game or not.
If 65% of active forum members are voting to stay in the game, logic dictates that the real number is probably quite a bit less than that.
Is your argument that people who don't like a game aren't active on that game's forum? Because I think it's clear that's not the case.
More likely: most people who play a game don't go on the forums, except maybe for technical problems. People who are satisfied with a game aren't any more likely to visit that game's forum than people who aren't satisfied... I tend to believe the numbers skew the other way, but that's another discussion (and a moot one, tbh..).

Disagree.. as most people just uninstall the game and never look back. Last time I looked at a WoW forum was probably 3 years ago. Last time I looked at a DAoC forum was probably 4+ years... etc So yeah, if you play the game but have issues you will check the forums but if you QUIT it's likely that you won't. I have made a special exception for MO because of my opinions about the company but I think that is a clear exception to the rule.

i wouldnt play this game in its current state if it was free. i maxxed out a mage tamer other than a few bugged mage skills in 2 weeks. i also had a slag hauler with almost every book trained. i quit with about 2 weeks left on my sub due to the fact almost 2/3 of the game felt borken and/ or incomplete. like china said, how many video's are on youtbue that are showing this "epic" fun content. ps i dont visit mo forums due to extreme moderation slander.

There's not a single video on YouTube that shows epic content that I can find.
I think there are a lot of people waiting for that epic content, and are willing to subscribe to see it themselves. They have been waiting since last year though, without a whole lot of big changes.

I'm sure there are plenty of people out there watching both MO and DF, hoping they start making what they view as positive changes and additions to the game. Which will be slow going for both games IMO. Neither has shown a great ability in building or adding content at a normal industry pace. People have been waiting for these games to become the sandboxes they were advertised as being. Who knows if that will ever happen for either game, especially considering the PVP systems they have in place which require constant tinkering in the name of balance.(this leaves little resource for added content).
This is why most companies ignore PVP and leave it as the after thought it was implemented as. Players in large part want content and constant time sinks. They want lore and they want faction based warfare. FFA is a niche in the MMO world, the average player isn't inclined to play with such a ruleset in place.
I expect both games to stay mostly as is for quite some time, DF is showing more promise of course, Considering they've been in development as long as they have, that's not saying much.

What is it you are actually trying to say? That entire thread you've linked is more of the same we've heard for how long now? We know, awesome things are on the drawing board and will happen one day, inch by inch, step by step. When & if is any ones guess.
Oh, and this quote on page 1 of that thread from Henrik is embaressing.
"Correct, that was the main concern we had to solve to be able to actually release the game. With that core inplace we manage to release without desync as planned. And have a solid core to build on."
If Desync was fixed and the core "solid" I must of been playing a totally different game for 35-days after release. I genuinely find that remark insulting as it's so far from the truth.

As of tomorrow, it looks like we can add thievery and guild war declarations to that list.
Along with counter-attacks.
They will need refinement, to be sure, but these systems will be in the game.

-Tabards -Flash support (Meaning new UI, mini games, the real inventory system) -Nav mesh to allow for proper AI
-Speedtree implemented, not necessarily all the trees and shrubs changed.

I do not know what game you are playing but i have not experincd desync once since beta and would experince it regulary before the update to the engine.
Also its only been 1 month and abit and the game has improved.
Right now, the game is starting to kick off, i guess you could say this is where all the fun starts.
a war is coming....and with the war declaration this is going to be sweet.
I was pretty bored of the game 2 weeks ago but now i cant stop playing mortal online, its getting very intreasting right now for me.
This new patch is going to be sweet.
the reason why people are not resubbing is simply because most of the members are from beta and we done what mortal online had to offer but now things are going to get intreasting.
Call it what you want or don't. The fact is the state of the MO game server from day 1 to day 35 was among the worst of any game I've played in 13-years. My pets would bounce all over the world. Mobs would appear next to you and not be. Any one can easily read multiple threads about this on the official forums. Suggesting the "core" was stable is misleading to the extreme. Most patches that claimed to fix an issue, didn't and broke a few more. You could provide a 7-page list of new feature being added and they are meaningless if they don't work or are being added on top of a broken "core" simply so one can say "hey look at all these new features". The game is in beta state at best with extremely limited content. There aren't even any dungeons; oh wait, there is "Cave Camp".

Pets were bugged for a while (Not anymore) Don't know what you're on about with the mobs.
The core was pretty stable ofcourse not perfect but stable. The new features are good and will slowly help flesh out the game for more content.
Two dungeons. Risar Dungeon and the Spider Cave. Yes unless you relog once entered the FPS can get bad in the spider cave but it's still a dungeon. (lol)

The game could use more PvE/dungeon-type content. The AI also needs to be improved. But, that's not uncommon in these types of games - Darkfall was absolutely terrible with respect to PvE/dungeons and AI at launch as well (and still isn't very good a year and a half later).
I don't think anyone has ever said that MO is perfect. Most people agree that it has bugs, and the server hasn't been stable. But, it has definitely been playable. The people who do not like the game (and not everyone will like any game) have been grossly exaggerating the faults in MO, however, in an attempt to intentionally mislead people.

Agreed I have to say getting the AI right is essential for me when it comes to the PvE in games and immersion. Right now MO doesn't have it.
I'm aware they're waiting on Epic to provide Nav Mesh and other fixes to allow them to do complex AI I just hope it comes sooner than later... The Dungeons we have now are medicore, mobs and then a cool looking boss lacking special moves. In future they need to be updated with special AI to make interesting fights.
The people who do not like the game (and not everyone will like any game) have been grossly exaggerating the faults in MO, however, in an attempt to intentionally mislead people.
This is true of both sides. People who stated the server was crashing 1-2 times a day the week after release were just as guilty of misleading people as the ones that claimed it was crashing every 5 minutes. Thus the key is to try and state your case backed by facts and/or clearly denote when you're stating an opinion. As demonstrated in this very topic... the "state of the game" is certainly subject to opinion on most fronts. Hard things such as the server crashes X times per day can kind of be proven with research. Things such as the game has one Risar Dungeon and a Spider Cave with FPS issues can be proven. Statements like... the game is GREAT or the game STINKS are impossible to prove.

If any one is misleading any one it is certainly the other way around; but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I think what's really happening here is the few of you that continue subscribing are under the impression there are many others that will experience & feel the same way about the game as you, while I believe the vast majority of gamers will feel the same way as the approximate 65% of those that did not continue subscribing after our 35-days was over. This is the only game I've every purchased in 13-years that I regret this strongly. At least "I" knew the real state of the game, which many here wouldn't hearing some of you folks post; but what I didn't know was how seriously poor the judgment of the developers was demonstrated time and again either in failing to own the severe loss of play time during the first 30-days due to a highly instable server in NA hours while they were sleeping all the way to sweeping Steel exploits under the "limited period of time" rug when all evidence from players demonstrates it existed for weeks.
Glad you are having fun and look forward to when you're ready to actually provide in-game videos of all the wonderful features and game play you express.

Yeah the bug allowed ppl to multiply non-player itens in a mad rate. I hope they check the logs and remove everything duped.
