I Preordered SC2 as soon as possible which was alongside Mines of Moria as of now the receipt has been in my wallet for a little over 2 years and counting. I have yet to get a call about my copy and I don't expect to nor do I care, as my main gaming computer died while waiting and the laptop I am on just passes the minimum mark.

That and I am more hyped with Civilization V coming out in September than this game for obvious reasons.

Besides there will be, what, 2 more campaigns to be released last time I checked.

800,000 idiots willing to pay 60$ for a pc game....when are you fools going to learn??  They'll just continue to jack up prices on a platform that has consistently had the best priced software.  Go ahead fuel the activisions, blizzards and ea's of the industry....dumb-asses.

lol..Blizzard and their "numbers".. What better way to sell a game than to keep advertising how many people supposedly play it. Hell it worked for World of Warcraft why not for Starcraft 2?

    nope not gonna bother anymore...

I had preordered it and was very much looking forward to it but that whole real ID thing and the EULAs you have to accept when installing SC2 (you grant blizz the right to read and store all messages, both private and public, that you post on b.net and you agree with them sending your personal data to massive inc. for marketing and commercial purposes) is just something i can not accept. I'm getting spied on enough by my government, thank you very much...

I've pretty much bought every single blizzard game in existence... but this stuff is just too Ubisoft for me....

I'm probably the only person on the planet to hate starcraft. I hate warcraft for that matter. Shallow gameplay, only a few units and buildings. Just never was impressed.

I was a huge Empire Earth, Rise of Nations, Company of Heroes fan though.

Is there anything different in Starcraft 2 from the first one that could appeal to a different RTS audience?

    Tribes 2 is back!!!! http://www.tribesnext.com/
And from the makers of tribes: Fallen Empire: Legions http://www.instantaction.com/

And Zerg should have been the first campaign.

I plan to buy it personally because I have always been a huge fan of SC. Note, not Blizzard persay.

I disagree about the zerg. The main storyline has always been from the human perspective so unless the zerg start publishing their own games, I dont see why a zerg campaign should be first, lol.

To Cujo, I know SC2 is not a mmorpg, but at least it is a PC game and not a console title.

I preordered it at gamestop to get into beta...  Wish I didnt now- I am right next to the big midnight release event that all the SC2 devs are going to in Fountain Valley California.  I am not going to go though since I cant even buy a copy of the game there >_>

I've preordered two copies for myself and my wife. We love playing the original StarCraft to this day and we're going to love StarCraft 2 even more.

A lot of people say it's simple, and it is. But StarCraft is like a game of speed chess. Simple rules, few pieces and an infinite number of options to play in a fast-paced game. You need only two things to be good at StarCraft: be fast and have very quick intelligence and decision-making abilities.

I don't even think it's very arguable that this game is the epitome of perfection of its genre since it is the premier RTS of the world professional gaming scene.

I gotta say... it was awesome reading the forum rage directed at the "Game Stoppers" that bought their way in and "ruined" the beta. LOL.  That was pretty funny.  By the way.... go back to copper. image

As I've said before, I won't be getting SC2 until they release the full game as one package. Buying the game 3 times just to get the full content is a greed move on the part of either Activision, Blizzard, or both.

Maybe they'll do the same with Diablo III. The first game contains the player characters and a few dungeons, the second game contains actual hellspawn, and the third game will finally add  Diablo.

They've taken DLC to a whole other level.

I won't be wasting my time with this title, for over serious e-sport gamers.

I'm not a very big RTS fan anymore.

I'm going to play a offline version I got off a torrent until all three versions of SC2 are released (maybe).

Right now I'm a bit worried that my battle net account will get hacked again.

I lost all my old Blizzard games shortly after that moronic WoW/Bnet merger.

    Playing: Rift, LotRO
    Waiting on: GW2, BP

There has always been posts on many different types of online games here.

And while the site focuses on MMOs, it also includes other online games, and even mentions some offline games.

Many MMO players also play RPGs that are not online.

    Ok, that sounds understandable.

So I'm guessing they also reported here the big Modern Warfare 2 launch last November, and we can also expect to see news items about other non-MMO games, like RTS, shooters, action adventure games etc?

Picked mine up, taking a break to update my vid drivers and stuff.

Awesome!, the story ( so far) is great, really sets a tone for the place. it plays like sc1 with a few tweaks ( so far).  the graphics look pretty and i love the sounds.

Its no mmo, and you dont have to play the multiplayer but the campaign is tons of fun.

Well considiring that Blizzard and Battle.net are a giant playgroung for hackers I will never buy a Blizzard game again.

  • SinbornSinborn Member Posts: 30

Starcraft 2 has a lot of old Blizzard charm that I think dissipated after Blizzard committed so harshly to the Warcraft IP. The game is easier, for sure, but in ways that help usher in more players (Better control groups, fluid rallying, etc) that take the focus off of microing relatively unexciting elements and allows players newer players to do more substantial things. The game itself, however, is everything but easymode and there isn't a strong sense of pandering done in the core design of the game.

I used to hate Blizzard unconditionally until I realized that my hatred was exclusively towards Warcraft in general rather than the company. Warcraft III didn't really fit my style (DoTA, however, did for a time) and WoW seemed to shift away from the original Blizzard vibe of paying a box-fee for a game and getting a good solid half-decade out of the title. I know, I know, what about the 3-parter? Eh, if the later instalations aren't good, then they aren't good, but for now, Starcraft 2 feels like a full game.

As for the 40K-Starcraft issue, Relic had its chance and blew it with DoW overall. Whether or not the story elements are a ripoff do not change the fact that 40K's own attempt were miserable and shallow, especially with the repeated failures that echoed throughout their single-player campaigns. Blizzard exhibited more effort in a single trailer than Relic did in their entire series of games as far as fleshing out their universe was concerned.

I still think Starcraft, or any hugely popular PC title, is subject to discussion in MMO-land because the PC format is all about a variety of choices and a community that transcends the game environment. I'm sure there'll be someone down the line that puts down their MMO for a day or so and says to their guild, "Let's go play some SC2."

You do realise that the people who made these franchise amazing are long gone and are not working for Blizzard anymore!

    I won't be buying SC2 as I won't support Activision Blizzard.
