    Yes.

But that said, it is definitely not going to appeal to the masses.

Kinda hard to tell with it being in Beta and incomplete.

It's decent but I'll give you an update when Phase 3 starts. They'll be adding more content.

Lots of threads on how beta is currently looking, from the masses it's mixed reviews.  Some folks on both sides of the coin are quick to love or quick to hate.  From everything that has been released to this point it is more the style of game that I, personally, prefer.  But like someone stated before, the masses might not like it.  Which is fine by me, perhaps it will bring a different quality of MMO player like FFXI did.

Not the best time to be asking for opinions. You'll either get people who take the unfinished product at face value and hate it, or people too in love with the franchise to objectively rate it.

My advice, take opinions with a grain of salt. Go on youtube and look at all the leaked and official beta footage. If you're going to be making your purchase decision before release, then at least wait until the final phase of Beta.

    Devious troll is devious.

Either that or you really care about the state of a game in beta for some unknown reason.  Hmmm, get a beta invite?

I like how some say this game is still incomplete. Do you really think with a month and a half left that something drastic is going to happen and change the game ? All it is now is just polish and get ready for launch day because what they are seeing is what they are getting day 1.

I don't have time for beta so im wondering how it is. Obviously it's not perfect. I'm just interested in what ppl think of it.

    Normal Developer Yes, SE no.

Keep in mind they only test what they think needs to be tested.  So unlike other games, what you see in beta right now is NOT what they are shipping.

There's a lot of changes promised for mid-August.  We'll have to see what they deliver.  (Don't ask me how I know, I can't tell ya.  Google might help you find out >.>)

Look at you delving into conjecture. The game may be close to totally developed, but those elements you call polish are key to the game play.

Since the testers have not touched the sum total of the product and are still inputing their feedback, the point stands. The game is not complete.

So there is an exception for SE ? Since when ? FFXI was no perfect launch and why should this be any different ?  I'm not saying it is completely bad but some act like something major will happen between now and launch that will make the servers overload with brand new people. That isn't going to happen. This game first and foremost will cater to the current FFXI fans and we'll see how much they can expand after that. Guarantee beta players will see the same thing at launch but in a more polished form. Ain't nothing drastic going to happen here at all. :)

Look at u delving into conjecture....w/e the fuck that means. Anyways the only things they can do now is implement minor changes. and polish doesnt help if the game is flawed at a base level. he said DRASTIC change, not minor polishes. ur agreeing with him while trying to disagree.

    Read before you comment

It's actually painful to reply; and you may not comprehend me, but I'll indulge.

The fact of the matter is that even a minor change can significantly impact player outlook. Something as simply as a UI tweak or a different key configuration can work wonders. For those who find the product to be TOTALLY inadequate, then yes, the picture they're seeing now is a good measure of the end product.

No SaintViktor, I don't think you are getting what I am saying.

Beta, you take your Release Canidate and open it up to your beta testers.  You make fine tuning to the client.  Then you go gold and ship.  This is how everyone else does it, and if that were the case then you would be right.

SE does THAT differently.  They release a TEST Client to the beta testers with the features they want tested.  Thier Release Canidate is not given to the beta testers.  Instead they swap in and out features from the RC to the TC.  I've seen the 1/3rd of the game thrown around.  So many of the features that you would normally see are simply not there.

So.....  It is not that they are going to make anyting major happen, but we may see some major things happen (because they have already been working on it prior to the beta and have just not shown people it yet).  SE treats a Beta Test as a TEST and not a pre release demo.

The Graphics Engine is really the only thing you could take to the bank.  It will be tweaked but I doubt its any different then what they have in the RC.

I believe the third phase is closer to what you are thinking of in terms of Beta.  The current phases are more in line with what people would think an Alpha would be.

^ this a million times. The beta isnt a marketing beta or  demo . If you whant to know if the game is good or bad wait till release.Tons of people making decisions on a small portion of the game  is just stupidity. The preorders are for the FF FANS ONLY. Everyone else just wait until the game is released and you can see if is worth your coin or not.Otherwise go ahead and preorder and i can tell 100% certain you wont be satisfied.

By example, lets say you dont like the controls UI whatever, but the content and world(open world btw unlike FFXI) is beyond amasing to the point you get acostume to the controls just becouse the rest is to good to pass out.Is exactly how i started in FFXI, i absolutly hated the controls and such at start, but the world was so inmersing and the content etc was so good i just had to get acostume to the controls and such, to the point i really didnt care anymore.

So they shown on beta the thins they needed to fix , the broken parts of the game. And the result is thousands of complains from people that cant freaggins finally understand that SE dont roll the same way other companies do.

But anyways, they said they are making serious changes to the battle speed , ui and controls for beta phase 3 .So everyone should just wait and see in what direction they will be heading , and not start blha blha blha taste bad, when you are eating raw meat.

I don't think that will be an accurate statement to make. I think XIV is more accessible than XI, and although it clearly isn't WoW, intelligent players from that mmo may get into it.

Couldn't help but laugh so hard when I read this, even though I know there are a few out there, but from all my time spent playing WoW I didn't encounter intelligence very often...snicker...

Adding to this, but the beta client shows 20% of the game (as said in interviews.) Reason being, they don't want to give beta testers an insane advantage like in other beta tests where testers have full reign.

I honestly have no idea why people feel the need to attack a game like people on this forum do. If you have issues with something, bring them up in a civil manner... sigh.

    Also @ SaintViktor

FFXI had a very good launch in Japan, North America, and Europe. There was one issue with the AH during Japan's release, but the other regions didn't see any problem with the client after it was installed.
