With those eyebrows, they look like the original Sith to me.
Again, if you guys had read any of the original books surrounding the Star Wars universe (specifically those that talked about the original Sith) you'd know that they were wiped out completely by the Dark Jedi THOUSANDS of years before the old republic timline.
So I'll pose this question: "Why make a game with plenty of beautiful lore that's widely accepted by millions of StarWars fans only to step on it's face and make up your own that no one will respect?"
It's like taking a whole franchise filled with lore, and making a completely new franchise with the "skin" of the old but with new information. There'd be no point in even using the original franchise in the beginning other than to completely destroy it utterly.
ps: Don't call me stupid, the Moderators will ban you for weeks at a time for direct personal attacks like that.
The Theory of Conservative Conservation of Ignorant Stupidity: Having a different opinion must mean you're a troll.
Given LucasArts' involvement, I can't imagine that they're changing the "history" or lore behind the Sith. I doubt George would allow that.
No offense, but did you watch ANY of the clone wars trilogy movies (1 through 3)? George Lucas himself even admitted he clearly went overboard and completely screwed up a LOT of things (most notably prestine lore he meant to follow).
That's like saying "LucasArts" didn't cross a LOT of lore lines in SWG (if you think they had a "light" hand in the development and content of that game you're crazy brah =D).

I have read most of the books and as I recall, the dark jedi enslaved and bred with the original Sith race so that there was no longer a distiguisment between Sith as a race and the Sith as an order.
edit: Copied from the wookiepedia: The Dark Jedi, who refused to rely exclusively on the light side, challenged the Jedi by giving into the dark and starting the Hundred-Year Darkness. However, they had been defeated and subsequently exiled from known space, which led to their discovery of the Sith species. Following centuries of interbreeding and mixing of cultures between the aliens and the exiles, the Sith would no longer be identified by their race, but by their dedication to the ancient Sith philosophy. This religious order would survive in many different incarnations throughout Galactic History

Makes perfect sense in the Star Wars lore to stick races with classes. Some species in the Star Wars galaxy are not foce-sensitive... meaning they can never be Jedi / Sith. At the same time, this also means these species are not succeptable to Jedi mind control / persuasion...
Not sure if TOR is going to use this mechanic or not, but it would certainly be cool if they did.
I think thats debateable though, twi-leks should be able to be jedi, as should zabrak, etc. What would be sad is to have only one alternate race per class.... I know it won't be that restrictive, but in the off chance it is, I would be somewhat disappointed.
No Twi Jedi? That's all I needed to hear, wish you all the best of luck on this title.

Pretty much what I said about no Wookies as a playable race period. They are just as important of a race as any other that has been confirmed (more so when you consider their popularity).

What makes me not so happy is that they are sticking races with classes for the time being. I have a good feeling they'll open that up later and have some races being able to hop around, but I wish they'd release these classes without the need to feign restrictions.
On the other hand though, really great race choices.
How do you figure BW will open up races for all the classes? They are already following the WoW formula and WoW hasn't opened up race restrictions so obviously BW won't either because they only care about their profit, not the SW fans.

Everyone needs to calm down. They've not stated anywhere what species won't be playable by certain classes. They currently are only showing tidbits of what species WILL be playable by certain classes. From the last paragraph of the announcement:
As excited for these playable species as we hope you are, the list is not yet complete. We look forward to announcing further options in the coming months. We will also have additional details on the species above, so check the Inhabitants section regularly to make sure you get the latest information available.

I'm not trying to make waves here, this isn't the first time they said that races may be found under other class selections. As anyone can tell you, I've been following this game pretty closely, and I know how BioWare releases information, but on something like race selection, I think they should just out the races without their class restrictions.
This is habitually giving players the wrong idea. Locking classes down to particular factions, okay, I can understand that, having some choice races aligning with a faction, I can still buy that to an extent. Locking each race to a specific class. No. Not happening. Sure, some races may be class specific, like if they want to make a bothan smuggler or something, but locking the twi-lek to both one faction and one specific class? Thats more than a little disheartening, and although I have faith this will not be the case on release, it really gives the wrong impression right now.
Bioware does their own thing, in their own way, and I respect that, but lets not be naive and think BioWare doesn't already know which races will be chosen for each class and how that will play out in the world and its storylines. I think this reveal was a little too restrictive to be considered a great thing. The races released though, is definitely something I'll still consider a good thing.
Sad to say..but no matter what is or isn't included. What is changed or remains the same. It is their property to manipulate. George Lucas proved this with the last few movies he , either directly or indirectly, butchered. This includes Episodes 1-3 and the Clone Wars movie. (though some of the series is enjoyable ..imo). I don't like it..I just don't care to waste energy complaining. I will play the game..and if it is fun..I will keep playing the game. As far as "canon". Well..it is called science fiction...not science fact.
LOL at BioWare for not even knowing about the Chiss and when they actually became known to the Republic. They were first made known by the appearance of Thrawn in the late era of the Republic with the whole Outbound Flight event.
But whatever. Star Wars EU stuff is a horrible mess of every single paint color you can find thrown into one vat.

Where's the Wookiee love? I'm still waiting to hear, Wookiee Smuggler with Bowcaster. That would so rock.
Wookiees will not be playable, you can stop hoping; they'd need to make completely custom armour and Wookiees can't speak normally.
No one wants to listen to gnarls for 200 hours.
There are Wookiee companions though.
That would be the beauty of appearance slots. For the odd species you can just put in a blank for the hard ones like helmets. As far as I am aware, BW is not going this route.

Well, Smallpox has been "eradicated" but new cases are popping up. As are Polio, Plague, and a few others that were "eradicated".
While, I'm not saying one way or another, one must realize. This takes place over 3000 years before the movies. An era, if you will, that hasn't had much influence besides KOTOR1 and 2. While there's things that take place before that time, it still doesn't make things directly canon, or otherwise.
As far as canon goes, it's whatever Lucas Arts wants to make it. While I don't agree with George's choice to sell out for the Clone Wars cartoons, opposed to Gennedey Tarikovsky's version, which was MUCH better in my opinion, it's not my place to say one way or another. They're out to make money, and they intend too, don't judge Bioware on it's choices, judge it on all of the good games they've put out in the past.
To be perfectly honest, I think the game will suck. Not due to the gameplay, or graphics, or story telling. It'll suck because of idiots migrating from WoW, it'll suck because people will try to ruin other people's experiences because they want too. It's not the developers, it's not the game, it's the people. It will always be the people. The complainers, the trolls, the idiots, the powergamers etc.
No matter what happens, something can and will ruin a person's experience. AS for the playable race discussion? I have no comment. I've only read a hand ful of the books, which many people don't consider canon anymore due to the new Clone Wars series released in the last year. The simple fact is, WE DON'T KNOW WHAT'S CANON. We are not Lucas Arts. We are not George Lucas. For all we know, Shmi Skywalker could've gotten roofied by some sith lord, and felt so guilty by it that she made up the story of it being a virgin birth. While to be honest, it's implied that this could be true.
We're given the idea that it was a vrigin birth, manipulated by Darth Plagius in a crazy scheme to bring the Sith into Power over the galaxy. There are so many plot holes, so many tiny details that are never explained. Why? Because there's only so much George Lucas can put into a 2 hour movie, and because he's the richest person within the studio, what he says goes, there's nothing that can change the bad choices of his past, and we're stuck living with crap things like Clone Wars, or the Star Wars Holiday special.
There's not a damn thing I can do, there's not a damn thing you can do, there's not a damn thing anyone can do. The Rich will always have priority over the Poor. George Lucas is stuck on his high horse that he's a good director. While the two best Star Wars films weren't directed by him. Those being Empire Strikes back and Return of the Jedi. This is my personal opinion, and the opinion of a few others I've asked over the years. So stop complaining, if you don't like what you see, then move along. Some of us who are true to the series, despite it's sketchy storyline, will have less people to deal with when the game's released.

Still waiting on Wookies.............going to be very disappointed if they are not in the game as a playable race/species.
I would highly recommend you read the article "Evil Never Dies: The Sith Dynasties" by Able Pe
Someday we'll all look back on the age of computers - and lol.
Start crying now. As posted above, they won't be a playable race, but there will be companion Wookies.
Wookies did not travel the galaxy doing heroic deeds; Chewie is the exception, not the rule.
