I was watching the video but the battle was so monotonous I just skipped to the end.... and what an ending it was...boss fight does anything but rock..
That was pretty damn boring. That caster animation while casting was pretty unimaginative. Can't see where I would play that at all, pretty decent graphics I guess.

Guild Wars had that. complete turn off. Hope its only for a solo dungeon at early lvls or something, and not for the whole game.
It didn't sound like NPC's were a requirement. You can still get a group of 5 real life players. I'm not sure what the big deal is here. Now Tera doesn't interest me but this piece of information surely wouldn't affect my opinion about the game one way or another.

You all may not have heard, but they are making a separate westernized version of the game for NA and EU. I can't tell you all the details about what differences there will be, but I'm guessing it will be a bit less grindy, probably less HP on some of these boss mobs (which are really more like mini bosses - the type seen in that boss video you posted are all over the place). Furthermore, as we should all realize, watching a game being played and actually playing it are significantly different experiences.
Anyway - I personally plan to try it out for a few reasons. I really enjoyed the monster hunter series of games, which this seems to play quite similarly to in combat. This game also is the spiritual successor to Lineage 2 it seems, and the videos back it up, in the way that there are massive open environments to explore to a degree we really haven't seen since L2. I enjoy the exploration aspect of games, so that's a big selling point for me. There also promises to be an endgame with quite a bit of longevity via their political system.
The next successful MMORPG will not be, IMO, innovative. It will be well made.
Face it. The people on these forums are most definitley NOT the target audience for the next successful MMORPG.
If you are looking for FFA PvP, a "sandbox", some kewl FPS MMO combat so you can pwn newbz, unrestricited skillz in a use it to improve it system instead of classes, you will not be playing the next successful MMORPG.
So yes, any of these three could be very successful if they are well made.
No, none of them will satisfy most of the unrealistic posters on this forum.
Remember, 90% plus of players on an MMORPG do not post on forums or read them. They play the game.
How many people play WoW? How many posters are active on the WoW forum?

Not any of their faults the customers read into things a little too much, and expect much more than what is being offered, all based off how something may have been worded ussually. There is no doubt that all three of those games are going to be serious let downs for some or even a lot of people, and the only one to blame is yourself for not waiting until it actually comes out before getting overly excited and starting to foam at the mouth.
It's that whole period in between announcements and actual release that can kill a game for most people if you ask me, all that time spent just impatiently waiting and letting their imagenations run wild for so long would really not do anything except prepare you to be let down, if left unchecked for long enough.

But But Guild Wars 2 has Event system,,,,,
NPC stretching while her house is burning down and collapsing seems strange especilly since Anet stated NPC react to events.
What kept me in FF11 was the game's atmosphere. There was something (non-tangible) that actually drew me into the game, more so than in any other MMO i've played before or since. Much of it had to do with the story-telling ability of the game. The game also had a tremendous amount of depth to practically every system that went on in the game. Even something as trivial as fishing in the game had a complex system that dealt with a combination of rods, fish, bait, fresh/salt water, and phase of the moon. The combat, while slow, had a number of unique elements to it that required teamwork and timing beyond "know your role." Unfortunately, these are all things that no game video is able to adequately translate over.
Now thats not to say that FF11 was perfect. The forced grouping made it next to impossible at times to even play the game because you couldn't find a group. The combat pace could be terribly slow, even with the teamwork, I was unable to go back to the game after playing COH/COV just due to the massive combat pace difference. The downtime in the game was too long in places as well.
However, if FF14 fixes the grouping issue, I believe I could overlook pretty much all the other drawbacks, so long as it kept the things that I did like in there.
I'll be playing it when it comes out. We'll see then if I find it living up to the hype that it has.
Well, no game will truly live up to all the hype that surrounds it, but I do think these three will be solid games, the next real batch of quality AAA MMOs and the ones to be competed with over the next decade.
Now what if we try to compare the three against each other... nah, it'd just turn into a hype-fueled fanbot debate. Then again, what else are these forums good for? .
Edit: I agree with Ihmotepp above. The majority of MMO players want a polished traditional game, not an innovative piece of crap. These three look like they understand that, and so they'll focus on quality first.
NPC stretching while her house is burning down and collapsing seems strange especilly since Anet stated NPC react to events.
Maybe it's not her house. Maybe it's a house of someone she has a personal vendetta against. Hell, maybe she's the arsonist. From her pose it's hard to tell if she's even stretching or if she's blocking out the sun or even praying to the heavens lol.
I agree it would be pretty funny if it's like you say though . Part of the reason I play these games is to find humor in their little flaws like this .

Your making sound like an innovating game can not be well made either. Infact, in the MMO industry you do need some innovating. Poeple will not just go to a new community simply to do the same again and that is what all those games offer or hopefully will. TOR will have an more involved storyline then we have seen before and GW2 will have an interesting refreshing combat system and a map with is essentially filled with a lot of public quest.
Also I believe you see success as having WoW amount of subscribers. A MMO is a success if it manages to reach it's goals. Games like EvE are a extreme success, but even a games like Fallen Earth. WAR on the other hand has simply failed. Most games are simply not made for the masses, we already have WoW for that and there is more to be made to appeal to a smaller group of users who do like " FFA PvP, a "sandbox", some kewl FPS MMO combat" Also on the latter you might be wrong. If PlanetSide 2 will be done right it might be an hit. Even good enough for SoE to keep it online.
You do not need to innovate to much though. Enough to interest people in leaving there current community, but not as much as those poeple feel alienated in the world, but you need innovation. WoW right now can just continue what they do best. Take good innovating ideas from others and implement them in WoW. Meaning there is no reason for those folks to leave there MMO.

It's more than likely just a glitch, considering how large the game and the fact the game is technically still in alpha testing is there's probably a fair few still around.
imo, we are talking about 3 niche games that will do very well but will all remain in their respective little corners. FFXIV isn't really aiming to be the king of mmo's, they have a loyal following from both FFXI and the FF franchise. GW2 is a bit over-hyped right now and will be a slight disappointment to the masses when they remember that its a sequel to GW and was never even in the same league or sport as the king of mmo's. Sweator will do the best of the three games drawing from 2 strong fannases, star wars fans and fans of EA purchased companies. I expect Sweator to break 1 million subs and hover around that mark for the next decade. Sweator will be very successful but will never reach the levels WoW has.
So many MMOs coming out within next 1.5 years that all of you should be happy. I am certain that you will find something to peek your interest even if it just for a month or two.
Where is it written that MMOs must be ad infinitum? More choice the better - play one for few months and move to another, come back when the previous introduces more content. Or stick with one or two for longer. Either works for me.
It is all about escapism and the foremost about being entertained.

Rift loses subscribers
TOR being a WoW clone, loses ALOT
