You're probably right about SGI, but it is good to hear some varying opinions, as long as they are constructive =P. From everything I've seen, Anet is delivering on what was promised. I can't think of a claim that they've made that hasn't been shown, or at least adressed (there are some features that didn't make a showing in the demo).
I will say, there are some things about the game I don't like, but all in all I would label them as fairly minor. I'm hoping some of the dynamic effects can be disabled ( i hate the glow ), and I hope they make some of the character choices upon creation a little more interesting (ie, when choosing personality choices, one of the best ones by far sounds like the circus option. I understand having some staple choices, but I wish they had more interesting ones).
Anyway, I can say I'm still looking forward to this game. Anet is taking this game in a direction I wish more games would, and I hope they keep going in this direction. It's refreshing. I hope to see more of the combat, the news about dodging is really interesting. I hope this doesn't cripple rangers / casters.
I'm also kind of worried about how they will handle scaling in the dynamic events. What happens if you have a group of people standing around in the event area, but not contributing. Will the system register them as part of the event?

I agree with you totally. I think difference of opinions are great and this is the right place to express them. Just think of the comment directed at Robert was an itch I had to scratch and move on. it bothered me that someone who has yet to post a positive reply, much less one that isn't really based on anything and seems to be driven by dislike for the game, would bother repeatedly posting on the forums of a game that he clearly doesn't like, as far as I have read. That aside.
I agree that the glow thing is throwing me off. Not a game breaker for me. But something I am hopen is optional. I am also looking forward to this game and hope that it delivers in every way that the developers claim it will. I have to constantly remind myself what the developers have actually said they will deliver, and what has just been assumed by a lot of folks that are pointing out what it is lacking. I do remember reading that the events will be scaled and to handle people passing through the area, not participating, and just standing around, by some sort of internal gauge or something along those lines that keeps up with who has done little to nothing so that they dont get credit. I will try to find the article and link it.
That review didn't really tackle any of the major issues with gw2 so far. It is a fluff piece, and anyone that can't see that well... i have a bridge to sell you. And the "promises" that anet delivers on based on that review aren't the major ones of concern. No quest text? Who cares that isn't a major issue.
I haven't been an active poster on these forums for verry long, but I have been a reader for a bit. RobertDinh, imo, is a troller and nothing else. Not a verry good one either. He doesn't even have facts and the last one I was reading was one he started and he really wasn't doing well with his points. I don't play the flame wars really but just thought I'd point out that he has been noticed. Anyways he mentioned it not tacklen any of the major issues when I think It mentions some of the things the dev are sayen are there so I'll take a hands on opinion over a trolls any day of the week. Whatever "issues" he is talking about I am sure are just his own and he will never be satisfied with anything they say or show. Its sad really.
Actually my points have been concrete, the problem is that i am talking to a group of people who disregard logic and rationality at times in favor of just going "YEA GW2 ROCKS!"
Do you know why you were compelled to respond? It isn't of your free will. It is because my posts are naturally designed to appeal to objective readers, and they tend to rub other types of readers the wrong way.

I first want to see some proof, i want to hear the complaints. (at this moment you sated none in this thread unles si missed it) and from every thing i read from you its always been without merit, proof of any kind and aparntly logic.

Well the problem is people that do not practice proper logic may accuse others of having fallible logic because they do not understand infallible logic. The entire ign article is my proof. They basically danced around any relevant features to talk about fluff.

But they played it for 15 minutes in a small demo, what do you expect them to say after that short time?
We will not get any good preview until someone has tried the game for a few days at least.
You just can find out so many good and bad things such a short time. And the game is still in Alpha, the closed beta hasn't even started yet so anything they said could easily be changed before release anyways.

Further proof you sir speak outta your ass. I am not gonna claim to have read every post you have made towards GW. I will state, however, that every post that I have read by you has been nothing more than a troll. If you think so little of the title and its developers I don't see the point in posting here. Yet you do. As to the article that you spoke of by IGN. Now even the writers of the articles are conspiring with Arenanet to "Dance" around relevant features and spew forth nothing more than fluff? Keep in mind your "logic" is flawed by that statement alone because your opinion of what is "relevant" and what others think is "relevant" are objects of opinion. troll on.

I have seen videos I liked of this game... I think one was of a caster/magic user (elementalist) That was pretty decent.
I have seen videos I did not like Charr/warrior.
Game looks like it could be pretty good. Not sure about ground breaking or anything. I think it is worth buying the game though.
I still have real questions. I hope they will be answered in the coming months. Honestly wish they had a release date already , this game looks like it is almost done.

A lot of the mechanics look to be in place I agree. There are quite a few things we don't know about yet. Stuff like Guilds, PVP, and other facets of the game they have hardly mentioned. I still think the game is a good 7 or 8 months away. However, the demo looks to be very polished.

It's sorta like shows like jersey shore are designed to appeal to a certain demograph. I design my posts to generate intelligent discussion from intelligent people, but to also allow for anyone else to feel like they can be a part of some sort of conversation. I find it primitive and archaic when people only want to have discussions where everyone just agrees with them, so you will never see me making the types of posts that are like "yo isnt anet just purely awesome, yea let's all hold hands and just bask in the awesomeness of anet".
I still have real questions. I hope they will be answered in the coming months. Honestly wish they had a release date already , this game looks like it is almost done.
Are they any questions that could be answered here?
Or is it stuff that hasn't been released yet (i.e. Release Date / CB date)?
I have to agree that I was not overly impressed with the Charr/Warrior vid, however seeing the exact same event in a different context helped me realize that it was the player / dev i didn't like, and not the game itself. It looks like it could be a very fun and interesting event. I do have my concerns / questions over how they are handling specifics / problems with a dynamic event system, but we'll have to wait and see I guess.
I for one would like to know how they are handling afk player / player groups standing in the event area, but not contributing. Will they count towards the event scaling in difficulty ?
Also how much emphasis are they going to put on the cooperative side of these events. One of the problem with such events is they can go both ways. If you make it too difficult, it's very rewarding to complete, but pretty much requires an organized group (pugs would mess it up). If you make it too easy, it seems bland and lame (ie. Warhammer's public quests), but PUGs can do it w/out a problem. To use the dragon fight as an example, I'd hate to lose such an event because too many players wanted to hump the canons (as I'm sure will happen) and most players are too scared to actually engage the dragon. Or the opposite, everyone rushes the dragon and forgets about the canons / adds, thus losing the fight.
I know these are questions that will have to wait until we get more of a feel for the game, but I'm still curious.

I hate to call you out man, but please get over yourself. You are not some intellectual messiah. As I've seen so far, you're posts are not contributing anything constructive towards this thread.
Have problems with the game?
- Great! Post examples, reasons why you don't like it. Don't troll off on how they are 'dodgin key issues' or lying, when that isn't happening. Some of the biggest selling points to the game have been shown and talked about. Have they shown everything? No, but it's a preliminary demo. As has been said, closed beta hasn't even started yet. So don't expect them to release the entire game overnight.
Are there things you like about the game?
- Great! Again, post examples, reasons why you like them.
These are basic discussion principles. If you are as intelligent as you seem to want us to think you are, then you should be following them. Trying to stir up arguments doesn't make you intelligent, nor does it help the thread, it just makes you look like an #@$.
if that were true, and I can't say it is, that would be respectable. Lets face it, forums are just places to discuss. But to go onto a thread about a game you don't like and start throwing bias and negative comments that people do dispute and show you where to get this info and say you do it to strike up an intelligent discussion is just dumb. You don't like the game then thats your opinion I just don't see why you need to come here. if you do then some may call you on it, some may ignore it. Also how can you honestly try to sell that when you dont discuss anything really? You just try to justify your opinions rather than actually listening to what anyone says. And lastly "I find it primitive and archaic when people only want to have discussions where everyone just agrees with them" I don't think I have ever read a thread where everyone agreed so i aint sure wtf you are talking about here. You claim concrete but I can direct you to your own post where you were arguing against facts with bias opinions in your own thread. I aint gonna sit here and drag this on so I'll agree to disagree with you on just about anything that you have put forth because as much as you try to say we are just blind follwing fans of GW, i can also point that you are pretty much just a blind hater.

I do not pretend to be an intellectual messiah, but I am honest. It is actually quite constructive to bring a different point of view to things to be discussed. I mean a lot of people will sit there just going "man this article was awesome, it confirms all my wildest hopes and dreams" but if you actually read the article it doesn't really cover any relevant issues.

As I've discussed before in another thread, things that are perceived as negative are often just objective, the reason they are perceived as negative is because some people are illogically positive so anything below their level of positivity appears negative to them, even if in reality it is just objective. Anyway if you can show me any post where I have been disproven by any sort of real evidence, go ahead.

you have nothing to disprove, because you dont really say what you hate, whats wrong or anything. if you did then we would have a discustion but you are just posing mindless hate that can go nowhere.
Game looks good, its deffinately on my list to watch.
Like the hands-on-er noted all the promises they have made for me, were on a I will see for myself.
And I have to say from all the stuff I have seen/read so far, they haven't at all. This is ofcourse just how I see it.
I see these dynamic events as random/rare spawns, I see these events and people running upto you as quests, there is a lil bit of a difference, but not how they make it seem. Now, maybe, just maybe once the first people kill that dragon, shatter or whatever, no one ever gets to kill it again, and the world is forever shaped by it,and a chain of events starts and it never happens again but from the demos I have seen, that dragon and broodmate are on farm status at gamescom.
Now that being said, it would be very difficult for a developer to pull off some of these things, I mean create this huge broodmate and dragon, and you can only kill it once?
Also for all the persistant claims of the world, there does seem to be a lot of load screening going down, that maybe just them trying to speed up what the demo shows and so on, I dunno, it still cought my eye.
In the end for me it looks cool and fun ish, and I think worth continued watching, the combat looks cool, the animations everything looks up to standard, its just how things really are in the end that will really show if all they are doing is hyping us on innovation, and just giving us tweeks.
you have nothing to disprove, because you dont really say what you hate, whats wrong or anything. if you did then we would have a discustion but you are just posing mindless hate that can go nowhere.
I think what he's mostly trying to prove is that he is not like everyone else that without reservation thinks that "Anet is awesome and the game is awesome" and that he's above all that, because that's the argument I encounter most in his posts.
The arguments do not really matter to him, for he ignores every argument contrary to his own as 'blind fanboism' and is determined to highlight any negative aspect of GW2 and downplay any positive aspect, because he's convinced that everyone else that is enthusiastic is seeing things far too rosy and unrealistic.
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums: Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."

Well as i've pointed out before people who aren't objective might perceive objectivity as "mindless hate" if they are on the other side of the spectrum practicing mindless love.
mindless love is alowed. do you know why? because it does not piss people off, and the majority i have read have stated their cases of what isnt right still and what they hope will be reavaled and fixed. as for your mindlessness that you call a "oposing veiw mwant to invoke conversation" you fall flat, you piss people off and you are generally unwelcome because of it. word to the wize, make a point or get out.

Just a matter of perception. You perceive it as me trying to crucify anet, but in reality I am just calling them out on their claims. Obviously if a dev is going to make claims about a game, i'd like them to deliver on such claims.

I can't say I am surprised that you would be supportive of mindless love. I prefer a more objective approach though.

As I said before objectivity will appear as pessimism to people who are too optimistic. And often times people who are too optimistic would like to think they are logical, but they are too optimistic and not objective. No one wants to admit they don't use logic to get to their conclusions.
As I've discussed before in another thread, things that are perceived as negative are often just objective, the reason they are perceived as negative is because some people are illogically positive so anything below their level of positivity appears negative to them, even if in reality it is just objective. Anyway if you can show me any post where I have been disproven by any sort of real evidence, go ahead.
http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/287988/page/1 here read the thread yourself it was yours after all and notice how you went from haven an opinion to sounding like you were personally going to crucify arenanet for them NOT delivering on something I can't seem to find them saying anywhere and all the posts from people that called you out. Hell even your title for the thread was BS "An honest review of all the info from gamescon.... you aren't there and can't really say much to back up anything. I am sure that was all pointed out. Sift through your own BS if you like I am done just thought I'd show you what i was talking about. Of course you are gonna argue that you weren't disproven since that is gonna also be object to opinion just like any evidence brought forth to show you otherwise. and the cycle will continue.
Just a matter of perception. You perceive it as me trying to crucify anet, but in reality I am just calling them out on their claims. Obviously if a dev is going to make claims about a game, i'd like them to deliver on such claims.

you have nothing to disprove, because you dont really say what you hate, whats wrong or anything. if you did then we would have a discustion but you are just posing mindless hate that can go nowhere.

Dude get a grip. I called you out and you can try to explain it with any word game you want the fact is you are fullofshit. I actually bothered to go back and read the end of the thread I linked and you were called out on it there as well and your weak ass arguments are exactly that. You actually sound like you can't distinguish what you have read from posts and what arenanet has actually said. Dude you are lame there really is no point in discussing it cause it is right there in black and white for you and still you can't face the fact that your an idiot with a nice vocabulary. I don't see anyone actually coming to the games defence in away that could justify your attack. Who are you trying to kid holding arenanet accountable? LMAO who are you and who cares that you dont like it. In my opinion they have delivered in every way that i can think of from this limited amount of video. The few things I may be able to think of later that maybe they havn't are small. You are the one grasping at straws.
Comments
Edit here I found where it talks about "Leechers" hope this answers your question Aesperus http://www.arena.net/blog/nine-gw2-follow-up-questions-with-eric-flannum and also another Q&A session where it covers Griefing which sounds like something along the lines of what you said about coming into an event and going afk maybe to just scale it up and cause it to fail here that is http://www.massively.com/2010/05/20/guild-wars-2-lead-designer-answers-more-questions-about-dynamic/

Keep in mind your "logic" is flawed by that statement alone because your opinion of what is "relevant" and what others think is "relevant" are objects of opinion. troll on.

Your post are Naturally designed to appeal to objective readers?!? LMAO i will give you credit Robert that is a great way to word a trolling. HAHAHA
RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan and Paul Gray.
"When it comes to GW2 any game is fair game"
A lot of the mechanics look to be in place I agree. There are quite a few things we don't know about yet. Stuff like Guilds, PVP, and other facets of the game they have hardly mentioned. I still think the game is a good 7 or 8 months away. However, the demo looks to be very polished.
