I watched the GW 2 game play vid, not really my cup of tea.

This simply doesn't look appealing to me. To much particle effects and what not.

TOR combat looks like more fun to me.

This is 100% subjective. I'm not saying one is going to be better quality than the other, just that they look quite different and will likely appeal to different audiences, although of course there will be some overlap, and some players will like both.

SWTOR combat looked a lot cleaner to look at and is well choreographed too. My opinion is that the SWTOR vids look better than the GW2 vids (including the below), instead of the actual combat looking better (!)

    Try these instead:

RE ABOVE VID: That video leak is terrible.

There are no quests: Some events are hidden and can be triggered by players. Sometimes it is an object that it is lying around, sometimes it is walking up to a guy and chatting with him.

So - starting from today, you should see more "real" footage, without devloper magic.

And thanks for caring that I get some breakfast - i am off to the show now, later!

See, when you see cleaner, I see bland, uninspired, and boring. The choreography in SW:TOR is visually appealing, I admit, but is that really in the hands of the player, or is it a random animation that plays during an attack or defending from an attack?

We must be seeing different vids. I cannot reconcile any of the SW:TOR vids (outside of the full-blown CGI movies which are admittedly incredible) as coming close to the gameplay quality of the GW2 vids. I am sure they'll both be good games, and they each are high calibre, but within that framework I just think GW2 stands taller.

But if we all liked the same thing life would be pretty boring.

It's going to be a very graphic intensive game it seems, i'm really excited about it for that reason. I've been waiting for this game since it was announced and I'm even getting the best computer i can possibly get just for it :)

Funny thing, I had a completely opposite reaction and these ingame vids of GW2 have completely sold me on the game. The dynamics of combat, effects and overall fluency of moves opposed to TOR's choppines, uninspiredness (SP?) and ever present "hey, those two guys are beating one another with sticks" effect made me turn to GW2 and wonder if I should even pre-order it.

Yes hated the video as well ... I think that when we get one in good quality, we will have a better feeling about it,.

That actually was a particularily bad gameplay video there are far FAR better ones than that. You should see the one against the shatterer

Could you please post a link to a SWTOR video that has gameplay so that it can be compared?

It's a better video, but the impression is the same. It has a sort of console action game look to me, which is very unappealing.

I prefer the TOR combat which seems more classic MMORPG.

That video was and still my favorite. Amazingly smooth and fluid gameplay.

After watching some gW2 videos in higher quality I'm totaly sold. It looks so much better than SWoTor for me.

Is it just me, or does the open world in this game remind me of AOC. Every landscape looks surrounded and small. It feels like even though you can see far off, it doesn't look like you can actually go there.

I'm pretty sure they said you could pretty much explore exactly what you see as in if you see a mountain you can actually climb it. We'll see how open it actually is but keep in mind this is only a demo a limted section of the world.

Looks like the graphics are good from watching some of the other videos but I didn’t like the first GW so ill wait and see.  Can’t say the graphics or game play look appealing to me but that’s just personal taste I didn’t like the way the animations played.  Possibly could be due to the character race as it really didn’t appeal to me either.  I am more looking forward to Rift possibly ToR but for right now I am liking what I have seen of Rift more than ToR.

I'll wait out for some better gameplay videos but at the moment it just looks a mess on screen.

I agree, reminds me of Aion too.

Yea, that's the impression I gete too. The TOR combat looks more strategic, orderly, easier to follow, cleaner, etc.

I know many people will prefer the flashy jumpy GW2 type of graphics, but I don't really like those. Again, just looks like an action console sort of game to me.

Guild Wars does over do it with the particle effects, in a small battle it isn't bad but when you have a bigger group of people then it starts getting messy and gaudy.  I thought Guild Wars over did bloom too, which is something I turned off in the first game.

I have yet to see a good view of a character being able to move while attacking in either SWTOR or GW2, which is really important, not so much for spell casters but for melee.

All men think they're fascinating. In my case, it's justified

Well I think the charr necro vid looked great. I love how the camera pulls back from your position when going to the map. A small thing, but cool.

I hated GW1, felt small and restrictive. But this looks like the kind of MMO I'm used to with many improvements. Not reinventing the wheel, but I don't want that anyway. This game has a lot of nice features IMO....personal storyline that affects housing, mini-games, cross-class combat combos, to name a few. I can't wait.

Now if I only had the time AND money to play GW2, TOR, and Rift ( not to mention The Secret World whenever that releases). I need to make a clone to play all these MMOs. Not to mention the time I DON'T have for the single-player games coming too. AARGH.

truth be told i dont even care which one looks better, have more particle effects or a cooler choreography

SWToR = PvP as a secondary gimmick afterthough

    GW2 = PvP as a main feature

That alone settled the argument for me 1 year ago...
