I knew War was potentially lame, yet I bought it anyway, but I was semi-hyped up about the things I heard about Aion's flying and arboreal approach to zones. Neither were worth even talking about. They give you wings, but you only get a moment's worth of flying before you fall to your death. I was seriously hoping for free-roaming, but noooooo. Totally overhyped feature.

I'm gonna say Star Wars The Old Republic, even tho it's not out yet I just feel people are getting set up for a big disappointment mainly because Bioware recycles their stories and I've yet to see them create an original story that wasn't recycled, and I dont feel the new Star Wars MMO is going to be any different nor have any REAL original content that's going to get me to have any thought about buying it. but I dont know I've gotten to where everytime I see a Bioware game I just want to puke.
Lotro because the game nothing more than a WoW clone done bad. Story was blah, character models were awful and the gameplay is extremely boring. Granted, some games have less subs than Lotro but for a LOTR ip you would expect a ton better than what we got.
Warhammer had it all. It had many classes, some new ideas, good enough graphics, and it had Mythic behind it.
Then somewhere open-world PvP just never happened and when it did the game would move at a crawl. I was soooooooooooooooooo stoked about that game too.
DX10? Yeah it was written on the box, but you get it back later. Only a single starting area. Great promises about awesome spell system that allows you to weave spells into each other (and that doesn't start until very late in the game). Loadingscreens every two footsteps. Areas so cramped that you have no freedom where to walk to. And a great starting area, but once you left it.... Oh, voiceovers? Sorry dude, only for the first few quests to lure you in.
Thats a tough one to answer because they all have pretty much been a let down. EQ and EQ2, meh. Nothing much more I can say about em. EQ pretty much steered me away from SOE and I finally gave in for SWG only to have that game destroyed by the devs.
Middle Earth Online's closure then re-emergence as Lord of the Rings Online was a huge disappointment. They could have done so much better either going off the silmarillon or exploring the 4th age of man (events after the destruction of the one ring).
Star Trek was doomed when Perpetual got the license. Had minor hope cryptic would do something decent with the thing but it wasn't meant to be lol.
Horizons was a mess as was Dark and Light.
Warhammer has a HUGE and rich IP and its unfathomable how someone could screw that up. Maybe it was the racial pairings that they had chosen, or that they tried too hard to make it like WoW and not like it that messed em up.
Champion's Online and DDO both based on IP's that I played pen and paper versions of were also major disappointments.
The last game i payed for and feel i was ripped off = Star Trek Online.
im going to have to second that. STO does not feel startrek. i would think 2 more years of production to add the things that make star treak.. well... star trek!
and ill add mortal online. i mean at some point a game needs to put a limit on reality. the features they put in are features that left me WTF? out of all the features announced you picked those to put in at launch?
i msure its not the dev's fault that games get launched early. its the business guys, the investors, the people that think gimme gimme money money now!!! they need to understand that in order for a game to work they need to put out quality. its not the quantity that matters...
but honestly i think they dont care. they get their initial investment back plus a bit more on initial sales/2nd month then they dont care if it fails or not, their money has gone somewhere else and the devs are left with sub money to maintain the game. so we end up with yay look at all the features we gonna get... but we have no time because the big boys want money now so we will put 1/3 of them in release the game then if we can we will put the rest... (and 1/2 the time the game dies)
tabula rasa, matrix online... i have stoped buying MMOs at release. (LOTRO was my last) if a game is good it wont matter weather i start day 1 or month 3...
I initially liked the game, however, when I got to around level 30 not only did the grind make me wanna poke my eye's out with a rusty nail, but the bots drove me f'ing crazy!
warhammer for me, i had high hopes for the game after seeing the classes and what not before launch and played it for a bit got boring fast tho the part that bothers me most is out of my top 10 favorite classes i bet 7 of them are in War but the game is just soooo damn boring.
Pirates of the Burning Sea. Gawd, how I hated that game. Sucky Economic Model, Insane PVP balance (Or lack of it), and one of the dullest storylines ever. If it even pretended at least to be SM Pirates, I might have been happier.
I would have to say Warhammer followed by PoTBS . I was a long time DaoC player and thought Mythic would come up with something fantastic . Boy was I wrong

Which game? As far as subscription mmos go & content for money, Potbs gets my reward for failure.
Dark and Light, for sure.
That game promised the sun, 2 moons and the world...and what we got looked like EQ1 alpha with far less content.
The last game i payed for and feel i was ripped off = Star Trek Online.
AoC by far. Then probably CO.
Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN
Every game since Everquest(yes the first) has been fail, might have been fun to play but notthin can do the same as eq did

Evil will always triumph because good is dumb....

Bah...
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
