With GW2 and Rift are coming over the horizen this game better thump hard if it plans to be a hit beyond just FF fans.......and you still can not jump....sigh....
It has been steadily moving down my own personal hype list, as more info comes out about all the upcoming MMOs, but the thing is, I think there are enough FF fans that SE doesn't really have to care that much.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
I disagree, I'm not an FF fan. I haven't played any other Final Fantasy games but FFXI because I don't play console games. I know a lot of people like me who will defintitely be getting into FFXIV.
Not everyone is interested in GW2 and SWTOR type games, there are people who still like games like EQ and the original FFXI, who are specifically looking for cooperative play entirely PVE oriented MMO's that is frankly more like the old games than the newer batch. There are no other games (by major publishers) like this coming out anytime soon. This game doesn't need most of you people to be a sucess for Square Enix or people like me. In fact if you all played it, and it catered to all your wishes it would appeal less to those of us who are specifically looking for something different from that.
I like the way Square Enix approaches MMO's because I wouldn't pay a knickle for an MMO any of you designed, and unfortunately too many games today completely throw away their artistic and creative visions so that they can cater to the mob mentality of the forum goers and people like you. You think that is good, and it might be for you but it is horrific for some of us. I'd all but given up on the MMO industry prior to FFXIV being announced, and I see nothing else on the horizon that holds a candle in my eyes.
This beta isn't "BETA" this is the build they pretty much plan to release.
In fact BETA wasn't BETA they listened to absolutely NOTHING any of us had to say.
Of the thousands and thousands of posts on multiple issues many beta testers had with the game, all they saw was that we wanted more mouse control. Stated in and interview where SE procclaimed that 90% of all feedback had to do with the mouse. Which was a god damned bold faced lie.
So if it's shit, yes you CAN complain.
yoru so full of it get over your self really. what we tested was jus tthta a very limited beta it hink there alot of other feedback theyg ot it hink WHAT they was sayign was the biggiest complaint was the mouse and ui now its the surplus they will make changes based there. THEY do listen to some of are feedback. bet aphase three was like this is a guess 25% of what we are going to have at release. some speculate its only 10% but that might be pushing it.
So why dont you stop throwing your opinion around like its fact because you know its Bold face lies some of it is anyways
They also used to say that real time combat doesn't belong to the FF series. Then those >=FFX Fanboys came and replaced the old FF fans. Naturally some old fans accepted the chance and combined with the new Fanboys, but that's just a minority.
You can play both FFXI and FFXIV completely with just the Keyboard too and never touching the Mouse. I did it for 4 years in FFXI, and thus far several months in FFXIV, and it works very well...
I played FFXI for about 2 years with just keyboard, but then I got a cheapo controller at my local game store (it was only like $7.00). It plays alot smoother with a controller. FFIV will probably be the same.
I couldn't stand FF XI first 2 times I tried the game. for the 3rd time I bought ps2>usb thingie at the store and FF XI became my fav. mmo. The difference between using keyboard and ps2 controller was enormous. I have a feeling FF XIV will be similar.

And that's obligatory for any FFXI player unless they want to hang themself with keyboard wire.
You guys are funny, I played beta phase 3, and I thought many many things were very dated for a mmo, but I also say the graphics/music was the best out there so its a tough one. Will have to see if any changes were made on the open beta.
Amazing cinematic indeed. I really like the art design of this game, for the most part and the graphics are very beautiful. So it will have that for sure. However these are things SquareEnix seldom fails at.
But it only had what, like 10 seconds of actual game play in there, which I think is for good reason? You ask me, why did they bother with putting any in there at all? But they did and for a trailer like this you'd think they'd pick 10 secs of the best game play they had. Well the game play they did show didn't seem all that great to me. And I think that's because the game play for FF14 is going to suck, I'm sad to say.
Eveything I've seen game play wise for FF14 just seems okay at best, including what was in this trailer. Why they even bothered to throw in any game play at all, who knows. Maybe they're actually being honest and saying, "yes the game will be one of the most beautiful MMORPGs ever made and the game play will be, well, okay too".
I mean, I could be wrong, I'm just going off videos I've seen anyway, but all that I have seen just makes me think that the game play of FF14 is a step backward, insted of forward, unlike what the rest of the guys are doing for their next gen MMOs. I suppose we'll find out in a few days, I know I'll be there, in hopes to prove myself wrong...
The game has promise, but if the Open Beta has the exact same content available to the closed beta people, than I can see them losing a lot of potential players due to the limited content the open beta people will be able to try.
Like many MMO-ers, they "jump", (pun intended) to conclusions, and since FFXIV is only allowing you to test very very very limited content, I can see people shying away from this game.
But that is fine, if you are going to complain, 8itch and moan, then we don't want you in our community and you can go back to whatever MMO you were ruining before you quit.
I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.
"An MMORPG could be completely diffirent from WoW. Just look at games like Dofus, Wizard101 or EVE. But as it is, most of the Western MMOs are trying to succeed by out-WoWing WoW. It's like an army of 10 sports games made about same sports, and barely none about other sports. WoW clone is an accurate description of those games, it manages to convey much information with only two words." -Poster on mmorpg.com
Rift: World of Warcraft clone #9321 Nothing special to see here move along.
They won't due away with the surplus and fatigue systems because then players will level much too fast, leveling seems a lot faster in this game than it did in FFXIV, without some constraints on that a casual gamer may be able to get to max level in 2-3 weeks. That is not jammy with me...not jammy at all.... Just wait till OB you will see what I mean.
...also, I always wondered if it was illegal to use a programmable controller? I used to craft with mine XD
As long as your actually at the controller and it not doing something faster or better then you could do then there should be no problem at all. In fact would be no way for them to check it.
They posted that if u play more than 1 hour u wil get punished now thats fatique system wil turn off alot people 1 hour to play and like total 8 hours a week and p2p game no thx boring shit gameplay 1 hour a day
Your information is simply incorrect, that is akin to saying "once rested exp wears off they punish you with having to level at normal speed."
Fatigue is simply a conquest ring that recharges without you having to spend conquest points, its simply rested that garenteed refills once a week so people who are hard core gamers and never would get ANY rested are now getting a lot from a game like this.
So many people have no idea what Fatigue and Surplus actually does.

mister true they could just give us less xp all together to slow us down
BUt it hinkt heyw ill make the system better before release it was extremly unblaanced in beta 3 if not broken
ps. after level 20 leveling does SLOw down
I cant wait for open beta then they can lift the damn NDA and let everyone kno whats going on
um... awesome trailer?
Although I've never gotten into FFXI, the whole controller idea is tempting... what kind of controller do FFXI players use?
Looks great, can't wait for 22nd .
