DC Universe Online: Wonder Woman Looks Like...Wonder Woman

DC Universe Online promises players the ability to play as and alongside iconic characters from the comics. Iconic not only means well-known but also involves a look. Wonder Woman looks just right as you'll see in our screens. She is dressed in a costume similar to the one she's been seen in since 1941. Too bad they didn't get the memo that her costume has been changed, one of the reasons being that this is the 21st century and her original outfit is a bit demeaning for a "powerful" woman. Guess SOE didn't bother to ask Jim Lee about any upcoming changes there may be. Guess they don't read the New York Times, either, since it was even reported there.
The real funny part is it's right on the DCUniverse site ( the real DCUniverse site, not the one for the mmo ).

Honestly that's all I can think of when I read this. All of the DC toons are being represented with "classic" designs pretty much. Supes has had some CRAZY redesigns (it's between the reign of the supermen "Black Jumpsuit" and the "Electric" superman as to who's weirdest I think). Batman's had his share (Azrael, anyone?), GL and Flash have gone through multiple changes (especially since the two of them have had more cast changes in the tile role). Sony and DCUO are using the iconic looks of the characters to attract us. It's not really surprising.
And yeah, DIana's Golden Age one-piece with star-spangled bum is a bit sexist but um....it's an MMO. Boobs hanging out and blatantly sexy female outfits are the rule, not the exception.
I totally like the classic look. The more modern look is kinda...skanky. But that's my personal opinion only. :P

i like the modern look... the original in game looks 2 much like Age of Conan women :O!? Modern look is more sly , femenin , more sexy tbh. lets remember plain nudity is not what's sexy..

Comic book characters have their costumes changed all the time. And they get chaned back to the classic look all the time. A new costume on a superhero doesnt mean anything. Oddly noone seemed to notice the last time they put her in a different outfit.
So short-shorts and boobs hanging out of a bustier is less "skanky" than full leggings and a jacket?

They did it on purpose. They are really going for a classic hero look and feel to the universe.
It's kinda funny when you think that Wonder Woman was created my a Feminist guy. I can't remember what his name was but I'm pretty sure he was a psychologist. He noticed the lack of Female Heroes and powerful women in the comics, so he created wonder woman.
The new version just looks unwashed and....street wise. I like my super heroes clean and classic. :P

Well if you think about it, "Skanky"-ness doesn't really depend on the revealing nature of the clothing itself. I mean, why are french maid outfits considered skanky? They actually have a lot longer skirts than other outfits. It's really relative.
French Maid outfits are NEVER skanky.

Prefer the older version. New version looks like bar skank. Come on guys you know what I mean. I am sure I am not the only one that went ot a bar met a 10 but in the morning light it was found to be far less.

I like the old look better, to be honest. WW was never one of my favorite characters but she had that outfit for such a long time that it's hard to picture her in something else.
Personally, I think that the new look is trying to hard to pass her off as a total bad ass/sexy babe. The classic look, although more revealing is more fitting the character. At least in my opinion.
Jim Lee is a good artist, but a freaking awful fashion designer. The classic look was resplendant and worthy of a warrior princess goddess. Jim Lee turned her into a backalley hooker in danskins.
There is no grandeur in black lycra stockings and a street jacket. There is no glory when you look like an APB refugee. Where's the gilt and inlay? Where's the pride of Thymyscrya and Amazonian culture (as interpreted by DC Comics)?
She has been diminished. Thanks for ruining an icon, Mr. Lee. Perhaps next you can put Batman in a pimp outfit. At least then you'd have a set.
I don't know if anyone remembers this, but when WW first came out back in the day, she had her normal/iconic outfit. Sales weren't going too well, so they thought that if they changed her to have a less revealing and less "hot chick" outfit sales would go up. They changed what she wore and there was an outcry from the public (women) of the time that how dare they change how she looked. They like the idea that a hot woman in a revealing/swimsuit like outfit could be just as bad ass as the men. They didn't think what she wore was demeaning towards women, they thought it showed that you can be beautiful, smart, and a bad ass. Just thought I'd remind everyone of that.
I'm glad they have her how she is suppose to be in the game, and didn't have the new updated, and in my opinion lesser looking WW!
