I have the same proble and couldn't find a solution. I guess I will have to pass this one up
I was on day two of downloading the first file using their updater when I found this thread. I started downloading the torrents via Utorrent as per above, and just for fun I decided to race Utorrent and their patcher to see if Utorrent could go from scratch before their patcher finished the last 25% of the first file. When I came back to check a little while later their patcher had found 49 remote connections and 11 local and was downloading at 900+ kb/s. I don't know if this is coincidence, if they somehow fixed their patcher, or if somehow running both of them at the same time corrected an issue or what. But it might be worth a try.
Check your CPU and harddrive usage, its doind something on your PC, the PC I just finished patching was 99% CPU usage for FFXIV process. So nothing to do with download

cdouble click and voila.
When the downlaod is finished take this file into the folder:

Start the the Client updater
Play
Mine does the same several times. It's even caused 2 blue screens. With EQ II Extended already downloaded and LoTRO F2P next week I might just skip FFXIV all together!

Is anyone else stuck at 94.8%.... i tried doing the mega upload technique... but when i open the beta it still says 94.8
yep, did the .torrent, put it the the correct folder, patched the game, and it goes straight to 94.8 and sits...... Final Fantasy 94.8

Anyone having download troubles PLEASE do yourself a favor and go to that link and read. My download troubles were a complete no go, 4 days to get 48% on the big file....not gonna happen. I went to this link (which they keep up daily by the way with all the new patches too - FOR FREE) and I got everything, EVERYTHING in under 90 minutes, installed and client running.
Use the link, read the thread there, fix your troubles, and enjoy the game. Dont force yourself into the stress. YES, they need to fix thier downloader mess, NO it does not need to be your problem too.

Can't understand how a game 3 weeks from release has this many problems. It runs great on high settings for me When it runs period. I am sure someone is gonna say Oh its beta itll be fixed for release.... but release is 3 weeks the order seems pretty tall but hey being optomistic is good i guess.
Well there must be something you do wrong because me that runs fine.
When I was playing AOC they had exactly the same sort of performance/stability issues in the open beta 2 weeks before release, then literally about 4-5 days before release they released an absolute miracle of a patch that cleared 90% of the problems everyone was complaining about. (but the killed it's second/third month sub base by shear lack of content past the lower/intro levels, which may or may not be the case for FFXIV too)
They just added 3 or 4 servers last night I think. I'ld venture a guess that they are more concerned right now with server load being able to handle launch than worrying about sending out little patches for issues which can be addressed in the first few weeks after launch hits. And for me, I'ld rather they do that as well, nothing hurts a game worse than a botched launch day.

Somehow I got stuck ar 99.9%, 8/8. Weird thing is both remote and local connections seem to multiply, but no download or upload is ocurring.

Are you using the new or old downloader? There was an alert on SE members page about the 1st day of OB that pointed to a new client downloader, if you dont have it I'ld try that first.

Where can I find it? I used the one I downloaded off the main site yesterday.
Guys can you help me out? my game client is crashing whenever i open it, i can log in but as soon as i hit the play button it goes black and crashes
the damn launcher stalls at 99.9 percent
Its gotten past it once before, but now it's not budging.
Anyone know why? I'm getting 0 down speed...

I had this same problem too. When I tried downloading with a BT client too, that last file would get stuck at 78%.
I kept closing the conectiong and restarting and eventually it went though.
My opinion matters to everyone...
Having the exact same problem at 94.8%. Went to that site for the work arounds, DLed the patch and put it in correct folder and no go, still stuck.
Stuck at 94.8% as well, got a decent amount of connections, but its not even attempting to move anywhere.....god a p2p MMO update is so stupid, just host the damn file yourself Squareenix
Outstanding thread. Have been trying for 4 days to get this 'thing' patched. Bumped into this thread so went down the torrent route and left it downloading overnight. All downloaded this morning and installed. Now to boot up and see what's happening.

I managed to test the game yesterday no problem, then they took the servers down to patch and ever since the patcher has been stuck.
