Myrmidon, one of the biggest PK guilds, is quiting the game?

davmac22davmac22 Member Posts: 283

I will post a link to the thread and post screen shots.  The CEO of StarVault has already locked the thread, surprised a mod has not erased it yet from their forums.

Here is the entire thread in a picture

Henrik then responded by saying this while locking the thread...

Another thread was made to post answered questions from Henrik's post

Quit with the propaganda. They had some of the "best" pvpers however "largest"? Really? You even play the game?

Thing is, I haven't seen any of those answers...

Biggest hardcore pvpers for sure.  How is this propaganda?

To be fair he said "one of the biggest". Not, "the biggest", implying that they are fairly large not the biggest one in the game.  And from the looks of their site I'd agree they look like one of the bigger clans/guilds.

Myrmidon are a small group of 10-20 hardcore PvP'ers. The majority of them are putting the game on standby until they are happy with combat. (Mainly magical combat).

  • arrisbarrisb Member UncommonPosts: 194

I would class them as PK's not PvP'ers but nonetheless, server population is dropping thats for sure.

As I said, 10-20, more like 10-15 members does not even constitute being called one of the medium sized guilds.

They will be back. Magic will become more aim based on wednesday and resistance calculations redone. That alone was Myrms number one complaint. The second being making it more worthwhile for weapons like Maces and some axes. They're getting special moves soon and recently weapons had been balanced to some extent.

One of Wessex' weapon crafters can make 2h axes that do 90 damage to a naked in the head. Steel spears? Not even close. Swords and axes are already quiet viable for competitive PvP again it's just giving them those special moves now. Myrm do enjoy the game for the most part but it's combat balance they'd like to see before returning.

When the server population sits around 300 at peak.. and a guild of 20 ACTIVE (note that word) players quit at once..  That is a huge hit.  I really doubt there are many guilds that field more than 20 people at once... Otherwise the server population would be much higher.  Not saying they were the biggest.. but 20 out of 300 players is around 7% of your population...

The answers were already given. The players who recieved the 1h ban only had one person contact a GM asking why, that one person was told a reason and asked to tell his other guild mates.

They've said they are taking on new GM's but it's a process that will take time and that no other GM's currently play MO.

This has to do with lack of content and how StarVault is unable to release patches without causing more bugs.  Where does this ban talk come from with Henrik?

This is not just Mym and certainly not just about a combat or magical mechanic.   Much of that thread simply mirrors what many have said on this forum which a hand full of MO fans tend to dismisss and simply say "the game is improving".  Well honestly, unfortunately it doesn't appear that way.

Getting tired of the fail......*A Myrm Rage Post*

    A Story:

I sat here tonight at my computer just about ready to double click my MO icon...but I didn't. I just looked at it and went...bleh. No motivation; no reason to play. This has been a fairly bad weekend, in regards to moderation from SV. Players have been punished without being told why and yet we still sit here with constant crashes, unbalanced mechanics, and poor communication from SV. I mean really? Sure, now we have someone to reboot the server, but we still don't have 24/7 GM support. To say otherwise is an outright lie. Just look at IRC, or ask in game how long people have been stuck on the weekends at night. IF GM's are on, they continue to support their biased perspectives and unfairly punish anyone they want.

Consider Kootenay's response in this thread.

    http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/5...-bullshit.html

They punished players...then told one of their guildies that the rest of them got punished? In essence..."pass it on". I would use the B word (Ban) to describe some of the actions...but that would get this thread immediately locked. Hell, it will probably get immediately locked anyway. (Note: I was neither involved nor punished.)

Sadly, the moderation from SV has taken a massive nose-dive. If you speak out against them, or discuss something they dont like. They remove the conversation. Essentially, they have become forum gestapo. I personally, think this not the way to "Win friends and Influence people"; in reality, they are telling the customers to deal with it.

I checked out my guild vent recently as well. In general, some hardcore MO supporters all throughout beta. From closed beta to launch we have had a fairly strong showing until recently. After the vendor crash bug (which took a week to fix in a launched and pay for play game) most of them stopped logging on. Most are tired of the "Soon" promises. Like the awesome weapon stances....for spears....for the already over powered and over used spears. No other weapon yet. Or the magic balance...make mages in non-combat mode as fast as melee in combat mode. Oh, make the reagents cheaper too....Just as bad as the Open Beta naked brawlers now. Do you guys even understand what balance really means? What about the armor balance you guys implemented? Now everyone just wears lighter shit. We still all wear the SAME SHIT as each other. No variety, you have only changed our one viable option to something besides plate. Instead of running in plate, we run in scale. No alternate play styles, you just changed what everyone is using. Your lack of...well...everything has essentially driven most of the community away.

Seriously SV; what the f**k are you doing to this game that so many of us love to support? You guys have been talking about this damn epic patch being the "Messiah Patch". It's going to turn water into wine, fix PvE, improve inventory...blah blah blah....I don't think anyone believes you anymore. You guys said months ago that you were going to balance combat....how did that turn out? How about magic? Ah, cant fix the rendering/load issues.....just make horses slower. Hrm...new patch crashed 95% of the user base when they talk to a vendor...give us a week to fix it. Really? That's a damn pathetic attempt to compensate for your lack of programming skill. Learn to test, learn to plan. Get out of the tactical bullshit and use some strategic thinking in running your company and planning your game.

    The server population is dying.

The game mechanics are still broken.

The in-game support is nearly non-existent during non-peak hours.

Communication in regards to punishment is non-existent.

This is what we call...a lack of fundamentals.

Fix your fundamentals and take note. Most of us are looking for something else to play because we are tired of this bullshit you call management and support. Give us a reason to WANT to play this game and learn to test your patches before you launch them.[/quote]

That's not an issue, HC's actions are checked up upon. If they do unjustfully ban someone all the person needs to do is send a complaint to the higher ups and it's checked.  It's not like they do what they want unchecked.

Perhaps you missed the trouble ticket linked earlier where someone was (presumably) mistakenly banned by one of these guys for 24 DAYS instead of 24 HOURS?   Where the poor guy has been trying for DAYS to get his account unbanned?   His ultimate crime... standing in the bank door....

Sorry.. I cannot agree that allowing other PLAYERS to ban AND have access to other GM powers is "not an issue" in a FFA, FullLoot, PvP, single-server sandox game based around Guild vs Guild territory control.  You obviously have a different opinion on the subject and your certainly allowed to.  I just feel that in a game like this.. a level playingfield is one of the non-negotiable MUST HAVES...

Just to get the story straight by size Myrm is not one of the biggest PK guilds in the game.  They just have one of the biggest reputations for constant mortalonline.com forum spam and for ganking random players.  By number of players there one of the smaller guilds in game.

I am curious.  What do you estimate the largest guild in game fields at peak?   Not asking for # of members that don't play or play casually.. but every night.. how many people can they count on being on at the same time...

The subject of this thread is what again?

This thread seems to be all over the place. Some of the tangents make sense (the size of the guild relative to server population and how that affects the significance of Myrmidon) but others make ZERO sense. Strangely some of the most off topic stuff is from the OP

"People asking for answers just had their thread erased http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/53055-already-answered-questions.html   Just typical"      ----   What was the question? Was it in any way relevant to the topic?

Tartarus is not a member of Myrmidon (to the best of my knowledge). In what way is his ban relevant?  If it doesn't specifically relate to Myrmidon members quitting, it probably belongs over here --->  http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/290014/Secret-Ban-Wave-Sept-4th.html

If those are relevant to Myrmidon's continuing participation (or lack thereof) in MO, please explain how it relates.

Also this topic is being discussed as if the information is not available.  Myrmidon had 16 established members. Here's the roster: http://www.myrmidonguild.com/index.php?page=roster If you look at the recruitment board, http://www.myrmidonguild.com/index.php/board,3.0.html they are open to new members and have accepted 6 recently, for a total guild size of 22. All of this is from the public section of their forums.  If you really want to discuss Myrmidon's future, there are more relevant threads to follow on the MO forum board. http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/53000-end-myrms.html http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/53041-myrmadon-implosion-better-late-than-never.html

    Osmunda,

I honestly wonder if you even play MO.  Or played MO.

I can tell you I am no fan of Myrmadon, but they were a huge factor in the game, even though they didnt have a roster size of say, 13th or Agis Imperium.    They were only about a dozen of them but ALL of them logged in together, faught together, and killed together.   They would lock down whole sections of the game world for hours, with little oppossition.    They were a factor in the game, and the 2 or 3 left in the game still are.

On that last note,  ACHILLES, one of the Myrm members was temp banned for a exploit that he did NOT do.   But that was also the same day that High Counselor Antheras, a Promethean player/member and a part of the "ingame help" staff (Not a GM but the lesser High Counselor, which has limited GM abilities.)   As I was saying, the same day that HC Anteras, temp banned 10 of 13 people who were attacking the Promethean keep.    He had pulled this SAME stunt before a day earlier, where he temp banned on of the AI attackers for hitting a wooden palecade wall with a great axe.     Yet he refuses to respond to some members of the AI or anyone affilatied with them, when they have a legitement support claim?   Hmm... funny really.

I dont blaim Myrm leaving MO for Xsyon, STO, Eve, or any of the dozens of games out there that are worth the time.

So much crap, so little quality.
