Title says it all, reminds me of the New Coke fiasco back in the 80's. Turbines new website layout and forums suck. Slow as molasses on a cold day, horrible security by using game login as forum login. I refuse to login that way to even post this on the official website so I am venting here in hopes that someone from Turbine cruises these forums. Don't fix what wasn't broke Turbine, the old forums and My LoTRO were far superior to the new updated site.

I'm with you. I just hope it's some strange temp thing since they seem to still have old forum headers up that should go away once F2p settles in.
I know on DDO and before with LotRO they'd go to a default page that kind of looked like that if they were having problems.

I'm with ya dog. This and the entire item mall thing as well. I'm completely done. Low tech security where an item mall is at play... forget it. I'm done. Uninstalled this morning after deleting my payment options.

Seriously whoever thought of that and signed off on it should be given directions to the unemployment office. Web security 101 know better than that

I never said it was a cool thing to do, even though it's been that way since launch and I've not had any problems, what I said was you folks are drama queens, the relaunch is not even twenty four hours old and you are all declaring "the sky is falling" now if Turbine and LOTRO had the security problems WOW has there would be some point to your rant but that isn't the case so I don't see any point. When you can show that the practice has actually compromised an account I'll ride with that being your main point. But until that point it is still exactly what I said it was and that is just mmo community members being overly dramatic for one reason or another.

I guess we'll have to find that out once the bridge is crossed which I find better than yelling fire in a crowded room much as this post has done. But if that did happen rest assured that I wouldn't be on mmorpg crying from the mountain top about a possible breach, honestly I wouldn't even waste time posting it here I would deal with Turbine directly but I wouldn't make posts sounding like my kid declaring the end of the world because I didn't buy her those new "jeggings" she wanted.
I'm not saying you don't have a point just wondering about the dramatic post title "worst website update ever". I doubt you have encountered the relaunch of every single website if you've even encountered every single video game website relaunch to make a claim that foolish.
You obviously from the last line weren't too enthused about the free to play relaunch so like most on mmorpg you seem to be tending towards the dramatic simply to try and prove your point right.

sites fine your just over dramatic. BTW when to the site and the forums its secure just checked. Has all the security measures you would expect.
Didn't notice the log in part so I just took a look. Not real impressed with that but I don't post there a lot.
I did notice in real tiny print up on the LotRO Logo it says BETA and I see my version of the board has a different look than last night so I'm still hoping it's just stuff they're trying out. I don't know who's Beta'ing the board but it was the old version for us in F2p Beta.

you better bone up on web security if you think this is not a valid complaint. Like I said I will not even log into the Turbine sitre to complain, or if I did I would change my password as soon as I finished posting.

To be fair the new web page and forum format just went up yesterday. On top of that The community/forums is in beta. And what happens in beta? they test, we comment on it, things change. It really is alot of drama over nothing.
Its a secure site even has all the security protocol stuff why are you complaining?
I think it looks pretty nice and is easier to navigate. Don't understand why security would be an issue.

On it right now its running really fast for me. I know it was mad slow earlier this morning and yesterday but kinda figured it would since they were still in the process of implementing everything.
I don't recall saying it's not a valid complaint, as a matter of fact I recall saying that I thought you had a valid complaint, maybe that's why you edited out where I said that. What my point was is that you are being highly dramatic by calling it the worst website relaunch ever and I also pointed out your less than stellar opinion of free to play as a possible reason why you are so quick to embrace the negative.
and if you look at your solution (change the password) then it makes your worst relaunch comment even more overly dramatic.

even though it is a https site I do not think it is smart to have people typing in their account info more than nescessary

True but if you regularly scan you comp and don't visit questionable sites/emails you won't get hacked. If your account gets hacked in any game its your fault for it.
ok so I will concede it was a bit dramatic on the wording,. As far as quick to embrace the negative I have pretty much been a gung ho supporter of this game and Turbine since beta. I can count the number of comaplints I have had on one hand and all must have been valid since Turbine changed all of them. The infamous pulsing Dread effect and sound effect during beta, the Minnie nerfs of teh MoM launch and now this.

Isnt the reason for the change that they merged the forums with Mylotro and the lorebook which you already needed to log in with your game account?
As a European player Im just enviouse that we don't get mylotro (and the patch...) but atleast could log in to the new community site with my beta account.

Which to me sounds like a much more reasonable thing to say than what I reacted to upon reading the heading of the post "worst website update ever" and comparisons to the "new coke" which was something that people complained about in the millions.
The relaunch is one day old and as far as how slow things run? It's a free to play relaunch wouldn't folks expect things to be slow on that first day?

I was the data security officer with over 500 PC's to babysit at one time in my career, and I even more paranoid about my own systems. However this is a issue which is going to bite them on their ass, mark my words.

And I've seen that you are as far as LOTRO is concerned a truthful person I have seen you get on them when you thought they desrved it and I've also seen you defend them when deserved maybe why it surprised me to see that heading from you but it's all good though again I do see your point in that if that causes security concerns it should be fixed but if we don't tell them we feel that they won't and I think as a long time LOTRO player you can attest if enough of us don't like it they'll fix it.

I love it! with so many forum sub-sections it was a nightmare.
Oh and in case noone noticed there IS a little tag up the top that says 'BETA'... hmmm, Im sure that means something but I just cant remember
