Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

What "should" They Fix in FF 14 before its release XD! Not a troll thread good ideas ONLY.

1.  They should make owning a controller a system requirement.

2.  They should include the beta webpages starter guide inside the game support desk option for people who get lost.  Also add more specific details to it.

3.  They should enable the options for hardware mouse, v sync, everything in custom config INSIDE the game, number based draw distance,  disable grass, and disable weather.

4.  They should get rid of the 8 Leves per 48 hours.  They should make it so Leves you have completed disapear for 48 hours but you can do as many leves as you want.

5.  The leveling EXPERIANCE restrction should  be removed, alternative methods should be done.  Such as having the effect of dying on your character if you play more then 8 hours with a class, and not being able to heal at the crystal etc.  Something that encourages changing classes but not absolutly forcing it.

6.  The intro videos should play straight through to the fight scenes (no load/unload lobbies in between).  The fights should last longer and make you more involved with little tips in the left box.  If your a Land or Hands class you should NOT get a intro with a fight, and instead get one with crafting.

7.  Once you have talked to a person and discovered they are a shop (example like the repairman).  A little Icon should show up on your map with there location.

8.  Shops should sell all low gear stuff not just a few items like the shield and a axe.  (No I'm not talking about weathered crap)

9.  If you have a enemy targeted you should NOT have to hit confirm twice to cast a magic spell, should only have to hit it once.  Hitting the confirm butten a third time (in the case of input lag)  SHOULD NOT cancel your spell.  Only the CANCEL butten should CANCEL a spell !!!

10.  Durring crafting it should automaticaly keep your item list up, you should not have to redo it each time you finish a leve synthesis.

11.  The selling system should be completely scraped.  Redone where you can sell items either fast, or more then one at a time.  Going through 3 menus for each and every single item is unacceptable.

12.  They should add a report bot/spammer option.

13.  They should make it so you can go down all cliff edges, if it's to high damage should reflect it.

14.  If a enemy goes out of site you should still remain targeted to them when they come out(example dig from moles).

15.  If you finish killing a enemy and their is a second enemy attacking you the targeting reticle should go automaticaly to them.  Secondly if you hit right, it should go to the next closest target, not you, then something 20 feet away, then another something, then to your target 1 foot in front of you.

That's it for now I'll add more if I think of more ^_^.

Please feel free to add to list.  But it HAS to be SPECIFIC things.  No being retarded and saying something like "it needs more content."  Especialy sense SE has mentioned several times the story has mostly been disabled for close/open beta and only paid private sector beta get to play it.

I personaly am a HUGE fangirl of Final Fantasy, and have already preordered the collectors edition from amazon.  So please only mention the things that would fix the current problems with the game not just random trolling XD.

I read the entire thing.  And agree with most of it.  I think you being a girl is scaring others.  They are not used to females

Agree with it all bar 1. This is releasing on PC in a week or so, a keyboard and mouse is what many will expect to be able to play with. I would suggest instead a separate system for controller and keyboard/mouse, ditching the menu system for the latter for a more immersive, intuitive experience.

I'll also point out everything you've mentioned was said a hundred times over in CB and they've basically ignored the testers, so unless some of this is pre-planned for release it won't happen right away. Possibly after release when they realise they're hemorraging subs.

It's a good summary of most peoples issues.  I have been saying for a while they should just ship with a controller haha.  Still if they just had keymapping even in their config it wouldn't be so bad.

The leves I like that they have cooldown, but they need to make it where if you finish one in a group and someone else started it then it shouldn't automatically finish your leve as well so cycling leves in a group works better.  I think a 24 hour cooldown is better as well.

On the fatigue I like what they have come up with.  It is mostly non existant for the majority of the playerbase.

The rest I think you are pretty spot on.  Hopefully SE continues to tweak the game after launch and take these things into account.  Believe me they have 400 pages of feedback that basically all touch on these issues.

  • yaminsuxyaminsux Member UncommonPosts: 973

Agreed on all except 4 and 5. I personally think this is a good thing to do, as with WoW i just cant stop playing. Though 48 hour cooldown on leves should be reduced to 8,12 or 24hrs. Fatigue system should be rethink/remove, though SE announced there will be more classes added. I mean in all MMO they always be  players who will rush through content, maxing up ASAP.

    Also spot-on on 11,14 and 15.

Things that they should add...starting recipe for all crafters i mean 1-2 recipe per job isnt much to ask. It should be more like training. High level crafting recipes players should discover themselves.

    1.  Cumbersome menu system.  I realize this system is in place to accommodate for the lack of programmable buttons on a gamepad, but seriously, I hate having to hit 6 keystrokes to look at my journal and exit back out.

    2.  Try very hard to reduce the lag when performing actions like talking to NPC's or HoL gathering.  If the menu system is here to stay, at least make it so it doesn't lag as much as it does.

    3.  Tool-tips of some kind.  I still haven't put any skill points into anything because for one, I don't know what class I want to focus on.  I don't know how much stat points affect your character.  And beyond speculation, it doesn't tell you how the stats affect your character.  Tool-tips of any kind in other menu's would be great too.

    4.  Tutorials?  Idk about this one.  I appreciate the level of difficulty and learning curve to some degree, but for others, they might just give up without trying.

    5.  Pre-NG SWG AH, which is an AH system with limits.  Player shops still played an important role, but the AH was also there.  It limited how much you could sell things for, so the ultra rare high quality items would still be sold at their personal vendors at their houses. (never played FF11, but people say it has a good AH system.  Use that too?)

That's all I could think of that were different form the OP's

Sorry to quote myself :P hehe ---- But...

Even EVE had tutorials.  I think EVE had the craziest learning curve of all MMO's.  Without tutorials, EVE would take weeks or maybe months to fully understand.

FF15 isn't very complex compared to EVE, but I think at least somethings should be explained in a tutorial.

With 12 SE are apparently going down a system that scans server side for this.

Get rid of the animation locks for everything we do, including the one at the end of our run.

This would make combat and movement so much more fluid.

  • terroniterroni Member Posts: 935

    Three biggest fixes need are.

    1. Engine Optimization - needs better performance across the board.

    2. Network Lag - pretty severe at times, (anyone know where their servers are?)

    3. Item management - moving through inventory, starting crafts, selling to vendors...all tedious. In addition there seems to be some additional checks that cause slowdown during item creating/selling/trading.

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

You can turn off the animations for end of run and tails swaying and stuff.  I think the animation locks for abilities is fine and even though the lower ones don't do much damage, it looks cool.

As for the OP's list, I agree with most of it I suppose although I think some of it is nitpicky (such as losing target lock on moles- that's part of the challenge of fighting them).  I do agree that SE should say that a controller is required, and even release an edition with a controller built for the computer.  The lack of hardware mouse seems to be a hint, but they should be more blunt.  This game is meant to be played with a controller.  I got mine for like 25 bucks it's not a very large extra investment really and it gives it a unique feel for an mmo.

The main thing I would change is adjusting xp/weapon skillups for parties.  Partying is where the fun is but there's no real reason to do it as the game stands currently because you rank up (not level up) from soloing and things die too fast in parties.  They also need to adjust things like Cure because as I understand it, it's hard to rank up using beneficial spells like that (I guess they don't want people abusing it outside of parties but they should be able to figure out a way to rank up while just playing a support role).

Also, more goblins throwing bombs please!

-A setting that allows the camera to "follow" your character.  The game CAN do it, it does it when you turn on auto-run, they need an option to just have the camera do this all the time.

-The ability to click on "interacable" items such as crystals, nodes, lifts, etc. to activate them, or at least bring up a window  TO interact with them.  I find hitting "Home" every time I want to access a crystal annoying.

-Hot buttons for things like Inventory, Gear, Actions/Traits, etc.  I don't want to have to create a macro to do this, I just want to be able to hit I, B, P, or something to bring up the respective window.  I can do it with "M" for map.

-Adjust the transparency of the map.  I would love to be able to hit M, and have the transparency be 50-25%.  Personal wish.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

The only things that really bother me are:

    1. Ability to change keybinds. This is a must for a PC game.

    2. Ability to set hotkeys. I for inventory, J for journal, C for character, etc. This is also a must for a PC game (we have all these keys for a reason).

    3. Hardware mouse.

    4. Everytime you switch to other class weapons, you have to spend time setting up your hotbar again. Why not just have the game remember your settings?

    5. Remove the chat character limit. And put the chat and game text into separate windows. Right now, running through a place filled with crafters, you're being spammed with "Somerandomnewb botched the synthesis." Do I really need to know that when I'm trying to chat with my linkshell? Do I really need to know that at all?

Their servers are international servers, which means SE is cheap and decided to have one set of servers for everyone around the world to sign into. This is how it is in FFXI, and according to an interview, how it will be for FFXIV. So, expect to be connected to some box in Japan, and expect no improvement to the latency situation.

    E3 2009 Q&A:

Q: Will all servers be worldwide or split by territory?

A: The current plans are to have worldwide servers that are cross-platform and cross-region. We will do a beta test and look at the balance and player experience. We want to look for a good balance between region and cross-region play.

    4. they should add this...really

5 would like the chat window tranparency to be able to turn on/off. Purple fonts not really that readable.

Latest patch (11 sept, i think) somewhat fixed 1 and 2 and the patcher too. I gain significant increase in hardware and network performance gains. and menu lag is decreased a bit.

i would add not failing levequests when your game crashes or you go linkdead. nothing worse than getting to the last mob in a LQ and failing cause of server lag

So I can now have the arrow keys move the camera like it was in FFXI when was that updated?

Also with having to use a controller I completely disagree with everyone that says we should have to use it, in no way should we HAVE to use a controller if we don't want to this game is being released on pc and even if you play it on ps3 you're gonna want a keyboard.

The main things I've wanted fixed are the issues concerning the Hardware mouse, fixing the problem with tab being so random, there is a button to target myself I don't need to hit tab to target me before anything else if i want to target myself i'lll hit F12, also in xi we could hit F8 for nearest NPC I would like that added. Oh and I would like to be able to have the same controls as ffxi had if I want to doesn't have to be default but make it an option (apparently this might have been fixed though)

The issues people are having with guildleves I kind of disagree with they are apart of the game and I don't know if I think the timer should be taken away or lowered less then 24 hours. I think guildleves are more meant to augment your lvling and not be the main source of xp. Also I've yet to have the fatigue system effect me so I don't have any issues with it yet but it still sounds unpleasant to me.

    Pretty much.

I feel that my biggest issues with the game is the core foundation that it was built on. At this point i realized that this game was not for me. I wanted FFXI with more fluid combat and dynamic events.

Just agreeing with others for the most part, but from what I've seen.

    1. Controls - Worst ever needs keybinding needs mouse movement a pre-built profile that is similar to standard US MMO controls would be nice. Having automatic compatability with the PS3 controller so the game comes with the proper drivers built into would be good, but using controller should not be required.

    2. Launcher/downloader - Spending days downloading a game is never fun

    3. Network lag - They really need to work on that a major launch with a lag fest will lose subs fast.

    4. Custom configuration tool - This should work from inside the game

    5. Spam/Bot controls - Need the ability to quickly report bots and spammers both from chat and through target

  • CWEGuruCWEGuru Member Posts: 16

It is obvious to me the developers are not capable of adding these features. No company would release a game with all these flaws if they had capable developers.
