Robert! Where u been?? We've been missing you! You're probably thinking right now: "Do I know you?" Well how I can forget someone like you in the GW2 forums.....you're the ONLY person who's ENTIRE posting history is about knocking GW 2. Funny that. I also remember you as that person who disappeared for like two weeks after your last GW 2 bashing....you suddenly disappeared after myself and others couldn't get these simple straight answers from you: -How can u possibly make all these assumptions (GW 2 won't have end game PVE for hardcore players nor for PVP players) when the state of the game is still in an early beta form? -What is it about GW 2 that you see that others can't see that makes this MMORPG so terrible in your eyes and that A-NET is over-hyping GW 2? -Are u jealous that others can see the "glass is half full" scenario with GW 2, is this why you try to stare threads away from simple and understandable posts to dissected run arounds about subjective and objective opinions? Robert, like I said to you like three weeks ago, you are on your own personal crusade against GW 2 and we can't understand why. Your entire posting history is proof of this. Your logic, even though it is warranted and correct in ways, negates the fact that people have their positive emotions towards GW 2, I'm sure you are smart enough to know: heart>intellect in this case. My final question Robert: When was the last time you felt genuine interest towards a game?
And therein lies the problem, people who think that being objective is being pessimistic. I do not sell gw2 short, where it excels I compliment it, but where it fails I acknowledge that as well.

Not at all, people just exaggerate criticism when they are not objective about the game. I have many times said there was nothing wrong with being casual friendly, mentioned how polished the game is, and how it will be a success. But as I said before, if it doesn't deliver in some way shape or form compared to what the developers have boasted, I call them out on that too.
I mean if you go over to gw2g, you will find a thread where they claim to be calling the devs out but in reality the thread is full of 5% mild criticism and 95% fanboi praise. I'd rather people be honest with themselves about how the features are personally.

And this is the opinion of someone who is not objective about criticizing the game. The problem here is that you don't even realize how biased you are towards gw2, and how it colors your perspective completely and utterly, leaving no room for neutral perspectives. See the difference here is that I do not HATE gw2, I am just neutral about it. Whereas you LOVE gw2, so any perceived criticism automatically puts you on the defensive and seems pessimistic to you.
I just want to know why it seems that your single purpose is to seek out forums about GW2 and bash the game and all it's fans? Seems like a tremendous waste of time to me...
And again, this is the opinion of someone that is biased towards the game. I was posting on gw2g, i realized the community there was quite carebear and not very objective. It also wasn't a very professional site, the admins themselves were leaking my personal forum sign-up information to try and stalk me out. So I decided to come post on these forums, but these forums are often times not very objective either, so we will see how it pans out. Where else would people discuss gw2 aside from forums dedicated to gw2. What is funny to me is that the people who are biased towards gw2 think they are more entitled to posting than people who are objective about the game. It is the typical elitist behavior. But in the end no matter how biased you are towards a game, when it launches it doesn't stop good players from being good and bad players from being bad. Do you understand the inherent flaw in dramatizing someone that browses gw2 forums and offers an objective point of view, into someone having a single purpose only to seek out forums about gw2 and bash the game. Objective criticisms are not bashing, if anything not being objective about the game is more detrimental to it.
Im indifferent to all this. I like the look of GW2, but I'm not going to praise it's excellence. I'm also not going to bash it, because it will clearly be a fun game, flaws and all.

You can say you are indifferent but your interpretation and inflection already say otherwise.

But being objective is seeing both the good sides and the bad ones. You only see the bad ones just like many here just see the good ones.
You are no better or worse than them.
And you have to understand that people who liked the first game are looking forward to the second just like Diablo fans are looking forward Diablo 3.
My point anyways is that every game in existence or in the making have good and bad points. If you only can see one side of them you are doing something wrong.

The same goes for you.
Ah but I already operate under the umbrella of objectivity. I do not mindlessly hate on the game and all my criticisms are well-backed. As would be my praise.

Again, I do not only see the flaws in gw2, it's just that people who aren't objective are selective in what they see. Let's put it in a way you can understand.
I am operating as someone who is objective, I do not believe in buying into the hype. So my hype meter would be at 0. Most of you are operating at an 8.73 on the hype meter, so someone that doesn't buy into hype, seems negative to you. Do you understand what that means? If people do not have that same 8.73 level of hype to you, they seem like a party pooper.
As silly as this post is there is some REAL truth to it. It's pretty disgusting how people are so content with being ignorant. But I guess it's fun for them to hype up gw2 and claim it to be a wow-killer, or some godly mmorpg that will blow our minds. More like a well-funded asheron's call 2.
Well, the fact is that this is the first MMO with good coding since Wow. Everything else can be discussed and is a matter to personal taste but the reason Wow did become so huge is because Blizzard have good programmers that companies like Mythic, NC soft, SOE, Funcom and most others just can dream about.
Good coding does not make a good MMO in itself but it is the basic requirement for one.
I don't believe GW2 will be a Wow killer or that everyone will love it. I do however believe it will be a pretty good game and that is more than enough for me.
But the reason GW2 is being so hyped isn't because it is so great, it is because no one made a good MMO in 6 years. Bad coding, early releases, lousy stories and pathetic PvP, that is far too many MMOs. Only acceptable game that has been released since 2004 is LOTRO and even that isn't great.
There are several other games in development that is interesting but GW2 have better programmers than any of them and ANET wont release a game a year too early, companies like Mythic, Cryptic and Funcom would already have released the game before it even was in the shape that GW2 was at Gamescon.
City of Heroes is a good game released in 2004. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's solid.
Again, I do not only see the flaws in gw2, it's just that people who aren't objective are selective in what they see. Let's put it in a way you can understand. I appreciate this post. I understand what you are saying and respect what it is that you say. This just needed to be clarified I think.
Too much hype? Maybe. If they don't deliver on the level that they have already shown and promised through remarkably good marketing the ensuing shitstorm will be of epic proportions, no doubt.

ZOMG! You are still banging on about this. Talk about flogging a dead horse.
We are all so familiar with your objectivity and complete, impartial omnipotent judgement on GW2. I mean I am certain that I could come back to this thread weeks later and you would still be regurgitating the same tripe.
1. Yes you have said many time show objective you are. I am wondering if you can go more than 3 sentences without using the word "objective" personally.
2. We know you don't buy into the hype. In fact we know your sole purpose here is to second guess and cast dispersions on other opinions because they are not aligned to your own.
3. If you want people to take you seriously (which they don't) you ought to try accompanying your sermons with a reason for the way you feel like that. People may actually identify with your reasoning and you would actually gain weight to your arguement.
4. GW2 is hyped. Not even you "Robert Dinh" the almighty figure of penultimate objectivity and subjectivity can change this. If you don't buy into hype then why do you even care?
5. PLEASE keep posting. You are the highlight of my otherwise boring day. I can look up from the database I am trying to repair and read your posts and think "Wow now their is a guy that is living the dream. I mean really living in a dream". Then my phone rings and I come rocketing back to reality with the force of a meteor.
6. If its possible I am going to erect a statue in your honor in game. I am gonna get some scales and a blindfold and everything. Its gonna be so cool.
7. I voted 10 for hype just so you know. I know that this will please you and I eagerly await your response. 10 is the score of a clearly unbalanced, insane and clearly un-objective person. 0 is the score we should look up to because its not like its at the extreme of the scale like 10 is. Its actually not even on the scale at all.
because people generate expectations the game can't meet. when the game fails to meet them the players are upset and leave. if a game has low hype people won't expect as much. when the game releases you will most likely have your expectations met and more. so instead of saying "wow this isn't as good as i thought it would be" you'll be saying "WOW! this is better than i thought it would be!"
that's just the way it seems to be. look at APB. crap load of hype and it's the fastest MMO to shut down. while the low hyped rival global agenda is doing fine.

that's how i look at it.
It's not always the case, but if that happens with this game, my blame with go to the players. It seems to me that the devs here aren't talking about features until they're actually able to demonstrate them. I personally give them a lot of credit for that.

i never said it was always the case, but it seems to me that it usually turns out that way. it's still a good idea not to generate high expectations to save yourself from the let down.

If you are experienced with the mmorpg genre you know when there is too much hype, based on experience you can understand when hyped up features are fluff, and when they are legitimate. GW2 already has too much hype, most of the fans already turn every gw2 forum into something similar to the WoW forums. Does this mean the game can't be a success? Obviously it does not if it worked for WoW. Does it mean some of the claims anet has made, they won't actually deliver on? This is almost guaranteed just based on the direction they've taken in game as opposed to what they've stated out of game. GW2 will be a great game for casuals from gw1 to get their feet wet with the mmorpg genre, however, people improve over time and unless you can deliver a massive level of content like WoW does, you are going to need to find more efficient ways to keep people entertained.

I mean if you go over to gw2g, you will find a thread where they claim to be calling the devs out but in reality the thread is full of 5% mild criticism and 95% fanboi praise. I'd rather people be honest with themselves about how the features are personally.
theres a diffrence from calling them out and being pessimistic. and you have not called them out

I just want to know why it seems that your single purpose is to seek out forums about GW2 and bash the game and all it's fans?
Seems like a tremendous waste of time to me...
Im indifferent to all this. I like the look of GW2, but I'm not going to praise it's excellence. I'm also not going to bash it, because it will clearly be a fun game, flaws and all.
The same goes for you.
Hey, I love you
You poor man, you just need a hug and some hot chocolate.

City of Heroes is a good game released in 2004. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's solid.
I appreciate this post. I understand what you are saying and respect what it is that you say. This just needed to be clarified I think.
Now come give me a hug.
Too much hype? Maybe. If they don't deliver on the level that they have already shown and promised through remarkably good marketing the ensuing shitstorm will be of epic proportions, no doubt.
no i AM objective. i activly look and think about what can be bad and bring it up in these forums. but since there really is not much i can say yet i have only found a few
Why am I writing numbers?
/wanders off mumbling incoherantly...
RobertDinh still stalks this forum?
Long time no see dude! I almost forgot your devil advocateness

because people generate expectations the game can't meet. when the game fails to meet them the players are upset and leave. if a game has low hype people won't expect as much. when the game releases you will most likely have your expectations met and more. so instead of saying "wow this isn't as good as i thought it would be" you'll be saying "WOW! this is better than i thought it would be!"
that's just the way it seems to be. look at APB. crap load of hype and it's the fastest MMO to shut down. while the low hyped rival global agenda is doing fine.
So, ultimately, we'll never know if there's too much hype until the game comes out and we can see if it lived up to it all.
that's how i look at it.
