The complete pack is a much better deal then the, just the expansion, but I guess if that 10 bucks is a deal breaker, and u already have CoX, you would have to go for it.
As for their being a lot of better MMO titles out then CoH, I don't agree with that at all. But I guess its a personal thing, what you may think is better, others do not.
I have not bought Going Rogue yet, because I am not entirely sure that I would get the most out of it, if it went on sale I would get it right away. Not inclined to purchase it just yet though.
Well if you dont plan on switching sides or staying 'in between' or going to Praetoria (which isnt really very good because its only 1-20) then I suggest waiting till i19 comes out. Thats when the new end game (that was delayed because the beta testers voted to delay it) comes out.
I picked up CoH/CoV for $10, played for a month. Thought it was fun, albeit repetitive, and thought the ideas for going rogue sounded interesting. I decided not to re-sub, because the only thing that would have kept me interested was goign rogue... but I'm not paying $40 for it. $10 sure, $20 maybe, but I can't justify spending that much money on a game that I consider relatively shallow. The monthly fee itself isn't even justifying to me without the 'perks' from going rogue.
Not a rent, it's just a question. For an expansion it seems rather pricy. I know it include all the previous expansion but i already have them. So what is there in Going Rogue that's worth 40$ ?
The expansion alone is right there in the NCSoft store for $30. The $40 version includes everything. As an MMORPG gamer you should know that all new expacs sell for full retail for a while after release. If you want it for cheaper you're going to have to wait a few months or catch a sale....

I dont think he is questioning the cost of expansion packs in other MMOs, I think he is questioning what GR really brings to the game to make it worth $40. I bought the expansion and cancelled my account a week later, I have been a CoH player since about a month after release so I dont want anyone telling me:
"Its still good you have bad taste!" Or any crap like that because the truth is this expansion is crap, it has added virtually nothing good to the game.
"But you can change from a hero to a villain" Who gives a crap about that, if I wanted to play a villain I would make a villain and if I wanted to play a hero I would make a hero, Heroes and Villains used to be unique and have their own powers, now there is no difference, the game is getting easier and more generic.
With the last expansion they added in all the villains Archetypes, with this expansion you get....2 new powers.
Demon summoning - Its alright I guess, just another MM set, thugs are still better.
Duel Pistols - Damage output isnt near as much as fire in PvE and the animations take to long to PvP for anything, they suck.
Anyone who thinks this expansion was worth the money obviously doesnt remember City of Heroes in its glory days, pre i5 was the most fun I ever had on the game, people used to actually earn their levels and it was fun to find groups and level up, I used to make friends or see someone I knew evertime I got on a team, and most of the time people knew what they are doing.
The other day I was in a group and the healer didnt know what his heals did, he got PL'd to lvl 43.
The game is to ridiculous now, I used to love it but it started going down hill right after i5, they had 1 chance to revive it with this expansion and they didnt succeed at all.
