Already no one on the beta servers?

deltiordeltior Member UncommonPosts: 50

Hmmm is it only on my server or does everyone have left the game already?

 - 2 weeks ago, around 2 000 players on my server

 - End of last week, around 400 players

- Today, around 230 ....

Since a lot of people are afk/selling stuff, so probably around what? 50 peoples playing on the server?

Wow that hurts :-(

Or maybe, they just don't want to get burned out on a beta?

  • Itchy01Itchy01 Member Posts: 103

I was on a little while ago and saw quite a few people running around. I haven't been putting much time in as the servers are going to be coming down in the next 3-4 days or so. My playtime after release will be back up to its normal amounts though.

WOW open beta out for 2 weeks and all characters get completely wiped in 3-4day

Yet no one is playing anymore wonder why??

Are you serious you don’t know why people aren’t on?

i have no reason to play a character that is going to be gone in 3-4 days?

I played it, i love it... and i will play again when i know i can invest time into something perminent until that time, i am content with T.V. and Old Godzilla movies. alone with a little Silent Hunter IV

In other betas I played up until the last minute because I enjoyed the games.  This one I didn't, so I stopped playing... days ago.  If I'm the only one I'd be surprised, this game is clearly not going to appeal to everyone, much like FFXI didn't.

There just isn't much to do so its a good thing squenix is going to reduce the leve cooldown, I just hope for the player's sakes its a launch day patch and not 3 months down the road.

  • KaocanKaocan Member UncommonPosts: 1,270

Yeah, your inside the last 3-4 days of Beta, no need to push anything as your going to be wiped soon. I still play when not at work but not more than last minute class tests and stuff. Mostly just coming up with character creation builds in prep for the 22nd.

Lol I have done Dozens of beta and played them until the last minutes, along with thousand other players ! The fact that the server are empty simply means that no one care playing it, which means the game is already over before it even starts. And btw, I am a FF fans so I am not Trolling here.

AND something more, lol Open beta purpose is to stress test the servers, that is sucessful with 50 players playing !

It is just a fact! This is the end of the game

Why would people stop playing beta of a game they have been anticipating for a long time. If it was me, i would play until i got booted from the server.

I can remember when WoW was in beta. I played some asian beta (i think, long time ago) and when that one closed down, i moved on to european open beta and played until the final day, with lots of other players, enjoying the great events that were occuring for that day.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.  Personally, after getting a taste of beta I'm looking forward to the release.  Atm, I don't really see the point in trying to do much of anything, cause it's all going to get wiped in less than a week now.  Pretty sure there's a few others that feel the same way.

  • geldonyetichgeldonyetich Member Posts: 1,340

It's true, there's not that many people playing beta right now, my server dropped to about 500 players over the past few days.

However, there's quite a few reasons why this is going on besides, "it must be a bad game."

    • Square-Enx severely gutted a lot of the content for anything post-level 10

    • No story quests besides the very first for each of the three starting areas.

    • No class quests at all.

    • A lot of level 10ish+ crafting recipes have been removed from the game.

    • Including, vitally, the recipes related to level 10 crafting implements, which makes succeeding in crafting at anything level 10 or above very difficult, which pulls the bottom out of the entire crafting system.  Some have powered their way through to the level 20 gear, but they are a very minute and patient minority.

    • This is a player-driven economy, there's very little gear being sold by NPC shops that is above rank 1, so seeing how the bottom is pulled out of the entire crafting system there's really very little higher rank gear to be found.

    • The guildleve selection is very small and consequently rather monotonous to do again for the nth time.

    • The guildleve selection does not include a whole category of guildleves, the factional guildleves.

    • There is a level cap in play right now, which will be lifted after the game gets out of beta to level 50.  I'm not sure what that open beta cap is.  I saw a rank 22 Conjurer, so it must be at least that high.

    • Final Fantasy XIV puts a lot more at stake than more casual-friendly MMORPGs.  You've got a lot of work to do raising those crafting levels, painstakingly finally getting your wepaons and gear together, in order to increase you adventure levels.   Seems like a shame to invest when it's just going to be wiped, so every hour of toil in the remaining 48 (72?) is basically just going to go to waste.

I've hit rank 7-11 in all but a few crafting jobs, and now I'm stuck.  They've basically removed from the open beta most of everything I had to do from this point onward.  Nothing to do but wander worlds and get beaten down by big bad mobs I can't get the gear to take on, to eventually hit some cap.  There's no quests up there to do anyway, just a handful of the same old guildleves every 10 levels.

Consequently, until release comes around with all that yanked content, that's left to do after settling in is screw around, which is mostly what I've been doing in FFXIV since I hit rank 8-10.  Beta has served its purpose to the player, I've more or less sussed out how to play, I've got a gameplan together about what I'm going to do post-release, so I've been investigating little nooks and corners to get a good feel for where everything is.  This may backfire if it turns out what we're looking at is a beta distribution.

And yet, the preorders just keep on increasing.  Uncanny!

Just wondering here, but could the rather horrible reactions to the open beta from a not insignificant chunk of people have caused a spike in Cata preorders?  That's a pretty massive weekly change total there considering the percentages involved and nothing real significant happening lately for Cata, but the FFXIV beta is open.  I mean, FFXI is one of the, if not THE, only AAA titles likely to be released before Cata ships, makes sense to me that if they hate the open beta and know they won't be distracted might as well pre-order what they would buy.

Just saying, correlation is not indicative of causation of course. Not pre ordering or planning to buy either product ;).

Uh, the numbers of pre-orders didn't spike.  They actually increased by a rate of 46,000 on the latest this week when they had increased by 96,000 on the prior week.  [Oh, I see what you're saying, you mean that there was a sudden surge of 96,000 last week when it only increased 9,600 the week before, and that was about the point where they were able to try out the FFXIV beta.  Yeah, maybe?]

In any case, World of Warcraft is a massive singularity. Consequently, you can't take its numbers as a fair reflection on any other MMORPG in existance.

It's not hard for Cata to win.  I will be buying it just to hang with guildies and friends from time to time, even though my WOW account is currently inactive and I am burned out on WOW and its community.  The negative reactions to the game are really no different to reactions that I've seen in many other betas I've been in.  It's just that it's an mmorpg title that has people so much more passionately arguing about.

As for the rise in Cata preorders, in game in WOW there have been a few events/quests pointing to Cata release, that's probably motivated a fair few players who hadn't already done so to preorder.

I'm just going to go ahead and call BS on the OP on this one. Love to see where he is getting his numbers from, or is he just pulling them out his ass to try and make himself feel better for not getting invited into any teams while he played in beta, and now he is all alone in the starting area while everyone else has moved on?

Yea, that's the defending we need for this game. Him pulling numbers out of his ass is as good as you claiming him a loner in the game. Maybe he did log on and see less and less people? Is it that hard to believe? What's up with gamers falling so quick into denial about their game? People quitting because they don't want to get burnt out? C'mon, it's pretty safe to assume that the majority of players who left are... gone. I'm still reserving judgment until I get the full game. For now, the beta is fine.

You got banned from the beta for a number of violations?

I won't speculate on others, but realizing the meat of the story was withheld I decided not to grind "leves" for the sake of getting to a higher level.  I made it to lvl 12 thaum, 15 physical rank.  Leveled a few DoH and DoL and called it good.  I did my part to stress test the server and sent a few comments through the square enix support site (although I suspect they were ignored they seemed to get implemented anyways, go figure.)

Like others stated, I don't want to get burned out.  Preordered 2 hours ago.

    See ya in game non-trolls!

Lottery winners beware...I'm coming for you!
