Someone should DEFINATELY I mean super definately buy the customization engine/license....that thing is huge!!! Imagine a similar customization level in any other MMO...
I agree, but better yet, totaly redo the game, while keeping customization. Meaning: add NPC factions, add tons of things to do in town, strip clubs, bars, bowling, pool. Apartments with furnishing. Improve mission depth. Add subway/train in some cities. More than one cities, (if that wasnt in the game already).
WTF?!!!! I had predicted CRIME CRAFT as the next self-proclaimed MMO on this website to be closed down BEFORE APB was even released... wtf is this some twisted parrallel universe Im in right now?! I mean come on man Crime craft is still around as far as I know and recently released a patch with complete human destruction with bodies being blown into hundreds of pieces.
Jesus christ man, I will admit the game was rough around the edges but I had some really really fun times with my brother in that game.
I am in freakin awe right now at how short this game lasted... I was a diehard Fury player that game released October 22 of 2007 or something and closed like August 8th 2007 so thats almost an entire year.

[ insert bad MMO that's still around ] didn't cost 100million to make, putting the devs so far in the red that they needed a huge success, both in box sales and subscriptions.
This game's development was abysmally managed, and that probably accounts for every nail in its coffin. They could have done almost the exact same game for a fraction of the cost, and made a very comfortable little niche for themselves. I'm no fan of the game, but even I'll admit its a damn shame that they didn't do just that.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

Well, first off, selling anything from the engine would be a no-no, as the engine they use is Unreal 3.0. They can't sell or license anything that isn't theirs, and anything coded into the Unreal engine would also be off limits. The only thing they could sell would be the art assets and such.
-Letting Derek Smart work on your game is like letting Osama bin Laden work in the White House. Something will burn.- -And on the 8th day, man created God.-

That's just speculation. The latest is that no one is buying the game, according to the administrators.
It may be speculation, but when the owner of EPIC says he wants to buy the game, I trust he's trying to buy the game. Of course, the administrators could be idiots trying to get a price to cover all the debts, which isn't going to happen by a long shot, in which case EPIC will pass and the game will go bye-bye.

I guess any game that requires skill and has competitive PvP sets itself up to fail seeing as most most people expect to be able to play while eating cheetos with 1 hand and relying on their ability to no life the game so much that they can outgear all new comers to the game.
Anyone got any recommendations for a replacement game? No one say guild wars, WoW or EvE :-/

I would hardly call Team Fortress 2 or Call of Duty games failures. Starcraft anyone?
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.

The level of persistance and payment models will still attract a different audience. Perhaps that was the problem.
My frustration comes from the lack of skill based MMOs. Obviously this is somewhat based on consumer demand and when another skill based game fails it sends warnings to other companies to stick to making MMOs that cater to an audience that I am not part of.
The game failed because the company went bust. Thats why it went so quickly when there seemed to be patches coming out and things where still being worked on.
Was on the news yesterday, although if you lot are in the US then I guess you would not know about a small firm in Dundee going bust lol.
Banning the Cheaters and changing the subsciption type wasnt going to change anything. The Problem was what all First time MMOs expirance, they didn't have a good provider to start with and RTW just threw the game out on their own, with their own money. Had War Craft not been around before WoW would it have made it being just thrown out to the wolves? If NcSoft had not backed City Of Heroes would people play it? EA-Games and RTW gave it their best, but you have to have something to build off of before you can get into the world of MMOs, otherwise you end up like SWG, or thrown around for 5 years like STO. It takes money, time, and a Fanbase. Some groups just don't learn from others mistakes. I feel sorry for the people of APB, it looked like a nice game, but just not thought out right in a buisness sence.
Maybe someone will resurect the game, or maybe it will stay one of the shortest lived MMOs.

However, I guess it's a good thing the guys who created the Unreal Engine ( EPIC Games ) have decided they want to buy the game. http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/291743/Epic-Games-in-talks-to-buy-APB.html

Oh well, guess I'll get back to waiting.
Nooop. The future is this: Entropia Universe / Planet Calypso !
A true MMORPG with zone servers so you infact can meet all the ppl that play the game.
Currently the only one with a Real Cash Economy.

Too bad. I really like this game.
All they had to do is ban the cheaters. That was all they had to do.
