I really don't know how much more content is going to be in the release version so i'm not going to guess. But, the fact that you have 13 GB's worth of "more" stuff seems to be very interesting.
Edit: Added official link and extra forum discussion on the topic from another FFXIV site.

I am almost willing to bet you aint going to get 13GB worth of content. Do not get me wrong. It might be that they have not unlocked 60% of the world, but it seems unlikely most of the resources are not in the current client already. We see though it aint really that importend.
Theres been quite a bit of speculation of how much is compressed now and/or more will be added beyond just cinematics and later quests. Compared to other high-end graphic MMOs, that size seems to sound just right.
They did state the open beta was still just a small % of the total content available, especially on the items & leves available. Interesting & awesome - 5 days isnt soon enough
22 gb?
Holy shit I will never play this with my connection xD
I would take 2 weeks to download it if I purchased digital download.

Most current MMO's, especially with highly detailed graphics environments have in 10-20+ GB of data.
I know AoC has something like 30 GB or so.

It will be big content for launch.

That's not the point of the the thread, so please don't derail it. If you don't like the game regardless, then I respect that. I'm just commenting on the fact that the actually game just has more stuff than the beta.... i'm curious to know what this "more" stuff is, as someone, who unlike you, does like the game.
Your probably looking at 13GB of voice acting for the unreleased areas, pre-rendered movies, zone/encounter music, etc. I can't see a significant amount of it being textures that aren't already in use.
Games like Aion and Granada Espada had thousands of 1-5 minute music tracks in ogg/mp3 format, but I wouldn't be surprised if newer games were releasing 5.1 audio content to go along with the higher quality textures.
Audio and cut scene files would probably take up a lot of memory, especially if the audio is trying to be a decent 5.1 Surround sound capability.... but still, 13 gigs worth of sound and cut scenes?
I guess it will be a combination of content and sound/audio files... I just didn't expect it to be 2.4x the size of the Open beta.
13 gb of untested assets, and content. Awesome.

Yep, cause the only testing companies do for there games are open betas
.
Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling"
Sig typo fixed thanks to an observant stragen001.
If you saved character creation profiles during OB you can... I believe move them to new folder. So if you want to keep them copy/paste out of the Beta folder in your My Documents before uninstalling.
Profiles are located here: C:UsersDocumentsMy GamesFINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Versionuser
Look for and grab the .cmb files and paste them in same place of retail install.
EDIT: This was intended as a response to having to uninstall beta client. At least you can keep saved character appearance if you wanted to.
In CB you only had Limsa Lominsa. They added 2 City states and teh surrounding areas in Open beta with virutally no bugs or issues.
They have an extensive team of internal beta testers they use for all of their games. This is how SE does and their games are very few to no bugs.
PS - don't derail the thread please.
When you uninstall/ delete FFXIV from your drive now, its also 22 GB. So nothing new for release on the disc.... Only maybe in patches, but those won't change alot of the game at release.
Playing: TESO (great!)

Most looking forward for: Everquest Next
**************
Have Played: World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XI, Guild Wars, Lord of the Rings Online, Vanguard, Everquest Online Adventures, Everquest 1, EverQuest 2, Dungeons & Dragons Online, The Chronical of Spellborn, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, Aion, CoH, Loong, Dragon nest, LoL, Alods, Diablo 3, NWN, Tera, Poe, Guild Wars 2, Rift
Most favorite; Everquest online Adventures (EQOA, 2003, PS2)
It's on the System Requirements page too if you note that it lists a 15 GB installation size and also a 6 GB "download" size.
Looks like most everybody on this thread has missed the point so far, that being that Square-Enix wasn't just giving us lip-service that the majority of the content is not in the beta, that they preferred to test this content "in house" rather than in open beta.
Some of that will be a pre-rendered cinematics, the intro cinematic will likely be included, but considering they chose to go with a non-pre-rendered approach for the majority of the cutscenes, the greater bulk of that is not just going to be mere video.
Maybe if you count the downloader, we're counting the actual folder size of the installed FFXIV.
How about an official statement saying ~21 GB?
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/#/about/game_info
It also says that the initial game client is only 15 GB but this 21-22 GB with 6 GB of it being 'download' seems correct.
*Edit - Damn you geldon for doing the same thing I did. xD
Objectivity is delivered with a lack of personality made for the mainstream but never used for the mainstream.
Thanks for the infor Geldonyetich. I still think it holds true that regardless of what additions the game is providing for release, if you don't like the game, as is in beta, you're likely not going to like the game at release. So, each person has their own expectations and if FFXIV has yet to meet those expectations, I don't think the release will either.
UNLESS, the reason you didn't like the game was because there was "nothing to do." In that case, you may want to give it a spin.
As for me, I can't wait till Sept. 22. Just wish I had the day off....
Thanks Fortenc.. i'll add the link to the main post.

That's why all these "gloom and doom" posters saying there was no content in FFXIV didn't know what they were talking about. From the start of closed beta and the start of open beta, the devs have repeatedly said, what we see is a small fraction of what we'll get at release. I'm very excited for the future of this game.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
But I thought you guys said that open beta is not really for testing, its really just a demo of what is essentially the finished product and there will be no significant updates going into release. Isn't that right? Or are you haters changing your story again.
All die, so die well.
Appreciate the response Vikinggamer, but please stay on topic. Don't want this to be a fanboi/troll back and forth like the other topics on these forums
No wonder the chicks are so flat. These explains everything.
All die, so die well.
If you check the history of my posts on this game I don't think I can be strictly described as a fanboi. Further, pointing out the general inconsistency of this type of response with respect to the claims they have made in the past does support the argument that what we saw in beta was exactly on plan for SE. They showed us enough to test what they wanted tested and there is most certainly more on the way.
There is nothing wrong with pointing out inconsistent arguments in order to shut them down.
You original post is yours but my response to a response is mine.
