I played some more beta with my GF last night, her as a mage and me as tank, we hadnt played in a party together yet.
Well, it is very fun and works well with us able to take down monsters easily and efficiently with no down time for a while.
My GF is usually bad at keyboard/mouse controls in most MMORPGs. She did great in this game with a controller and found it easier than other games to control, no problem with the menu's or combat at all for her.
Graphics were great on both of our machines, no lag, I have a GTX 260 and she has a ATI 4890.
Can't wait til we get our CEs in a couple days and start up our journey in this wonderful game world!

Why do these threads always go to such extremes?
It's either "OMG WORST GAEM IN THIS CENTUREY" or "Holy crap this game is so awesome I'm having a blast!"
How about some nice middleground for once? Geez.

Because I had fun and so did she and we had no problems at all while playing yesterday.
I already posted the few problems I had the first time I logged in. ONce u understand the controls and combat and play a couple times, the game is pure goodness and nothing to complain about(unless you are a player that hates this type of control/combat and continue playing, which makes no sense).
Its as if you want me to change my feeling of the game experience I had to fit your needs.... sorry not gonna happen.

Hey, OP. Glad you and your girl friend like FFXIV. I'll be there on the 22nd as well. The part I'm most excited about is the amount of freedom players get in this PvE game. Usually, you don't see this type of freedom unless it's in a PvP game.

Not really pointed towards you, but the forums in general. It's either a thread like this, or the opposite. There does not seem to be a middle ground (which certainly exists).
If we want to look at this game objectively, there are several things to complain about.
Nice one, I wasn't as keen as you when I tried it but it has potential for sure. Probably will check it out again at some point.
Yea we played FFXI for about a year when it launched and one thing we hated was the long wait for a party which was needed to accomplish just abot anything back then.
Now with FFXIV it looks like we will be able to accomplish a lot more with just the 2 of us for the times when we can't find a party.

QFT reminds me of the grim days before WAR and Darkfall on these forums, where there was no balanced views on the games just camps of, 'fanbois' or 'haters'.
My post was a genral post about FFXIV and it let you know a few things:
1. Let other couples know this game is fun for couples to play together.
2. Let people with a GTX 260 and ATI 4890 that the game rocks on those cards.
3. The game launches soon and we will be buying and playing it.
4. Let people know that if their friend/gf/bf sucks at keyboard/mouse control, that they can enjoy the game and play well with a controller.
Now, if you don't care about any of this, skip this thread and don't even reply to it.

Yep, pre-DFO launch, I was very much considered a troll on these forums. It's why I created the signature I did. You couldn't say single bad opinion on that game without a ton of grief coming down on you. Age of Clonan was another, back in the day if you voiced a negative opinion on Age of Clonan, you were reported faster than speedster going from 0-60 in a 1/4 mile.

@OP: having a GF that plays the same games as you can be great fun. Means that you don't have to feel guilty or split between dividing your time between gaming and her

It's not going to be that way until release. Probably not till SE release actually. Things have a way of neutralizing themselves. People find it's not as bad as they thought, others find it's not as good.

What are the main complaints about the game? Controls, UI, and performance. Check, check, and check.

I'm glad the poster and his girlfriend enjoyed it. I always say, if you dont know if the MMO is for you, try it.

It dosen't matter if he's genuine or not or even a man or a person. What's important is how you reply as it directally sets how people will judge you and your futures fate. I'm trying to get to hell, where everyone who's cool goes.
The bottom line for anyone is to have fun, whether it be playing FFXIV, WoW or Eve or the hundreds of multi and single games out there. The OP does seem to be one of the more genuine posters. I got the feeling he was honestly trying to tell folks "this game is pretty good".
All games have their Pros and Cons.. ALL of them. Never has the "one size fits all" game been made and never will be. The thing one has to remember when putting our thoughts on gaming forums, out for the whole world to read is that they will be questioned, commented on and even ridiculed.
