I hate saying this because it is good news they are updating their market system.
But doesn't this make it a lot easier for people to manipulate the market by having a ton of retainers? In other words, the more you pay, the bigger advantage you have.
I wonder if this isn't the real reason they don't have an AH.
Supposedly, the entire point of no AH was to make things harder for Gil Sellers, but the entire system gives them a huge advantage. They aren't going to hesitate to buy tons of retainers and it's easy for them to run an entire operation full of all the gathering and crafting classes, plus people out grinding. They will quickly assemble detailed blueprints of who should be making what, gathering what and grinding what. Normal players won't have much chance. The frustrations may even drive people who normally avoid RMT to go that route with this game.
Brilliant.
The crafting system currently in place is a dream come true for chinese sellers.
This does not mean that the crafting system is bad it just means SE will need to be extra vigilant to ensure that Chinese slave masters(and that is exactly what it is slavery of the Chinese lower class) can't effectively peddle their products.
The crafting system per-class isn't bad (though some can be annoying), however the need to have multiple crafting classes to make one item is a turn off for lots of folks. The way to make this work best is organization - what the chinese slavers are great at. I wouldn't be surprise if they are the one to control prices once the AH comes along.
This almost makes me want to start playing again. If it wasn't for how infuriatingly bleak and pointless the vast majority of crafting is, then this would make selling items a lot more worthwhile.
