Edit and also just found this about the Beta in that artical.
"While the delay is bad news for fans looking to put on a pair of tights on the retail servers, SOE coupled it with news on the forthcoming DCUO beta. Players with VIP cards from events like San Diego Comic-Con and those who have already registered on the DCUO website will receive beta access starting as early as next week. Everyone who preorders the game in North America by November 15, 2010, is assured beta access by November 30, 2010."
1) You can check retailers like gamestop, steam or direct 2 drive and they have the specifications listed. DCUOsource has confirmed with the developers about these specifications. They corroborated that these are the minimum specifications except for the space, which is actually 20 GBs not 30 for the space requirements.
2) SOE has been pushing this game more at comic cons then game shows. They aren't revolving this game on MMO combat thats made for everyone, the combat is very much so more action and twitch based, like a fighting game. New information surfaces on sites like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube frequently. The storyline plays BEFORE certain comic book events that they are planning on adding later, that will really appeal to those that follow the comics.
The thing about DCUO source is that, they actually have developers that come on the forums and talk with the players. The developers seem pretty receptive to the community there. There is still quite a bit of speculation going on, but I am almost certain we'll see most of the remaining questions cleared up by next monday.
3) There is no public closed beta that we know of right now. That doesn't mean there isn't a closed beta. There are plenty of details that we are missing, yes. We have seen videos of PvP, they've said we'd see dungeons and raids, but there are lots of things they haven't shown. They said they will be in the game, and they continue to state these will be in the game, but we haven't "seen" these things. Whether thats a straight up lie, or they don't want to show it for other reasons, I don't know.
Personally, it doesn't matter to me what they show and what they don't show before the game launches. The final build and what is in the game on launch is whats most important to me. If thats a lack of features, then I'll be disappointed, but I'm not going to make a decision based on what hasn't been shown. If I did that, then I'd be straying away from every upcoming title.

Gamestop, bestbuy, fryes, newegg, etc still do not have any system requirements listed for the game. Thanks for pointing out D2D & Steam. Still no where to be found on soe's website though.

The point isn't where they are pushing the game or how they share information. The point is that lack of information available ABOUT the game. It is practically non-existant and there is no reason for a game developers to "share" information about their biggest title in some fashion that limits its exposure, makes it difficult to find or leaves almost everything to blind speculation. There simply isn't much information to be found.

Both the lead developer and lead producer have said there is no closed beta. Just internal testing going on inside soe. Just a few days ago, the lead dev blogged they were going to relay only on internal testing like other console games have in the past.
Seeing that soe just pushed in back to an early 2011 release I think the lack of information on the game being a cause for concern has been validated. Seeing more information being released that there will be a real beta period is good news.
Today Sony Online Entertainment announced that DC Universe Online will be delayed until early 2011.
"SOE is dedicated to delivering the highest quality game experiences possible," says John Smedley, President, Sony Online Entertainment. "DC Universe Online is the first game of its kind, and a truly massive undertaking -- the first action MMO set in the DC Universe, the first MMO on the PlayStation® 3, and the first time the entire DC Universe will be accessible to the millions of fans who are eagerly anticipating its release. As the game heads into external beta testing, this extra time will allow us to address community feedback in a meaningful way. When we get deeper into external beta, we’ll be able to share more information regarding the new launch date."
SOE has also revealed new details regarding the beta program. Players with VIP key cards and those having registered at the DCUO website will receive access on a priority basis starting as early as next week. As an added thank you, everyone that has already pre-ordered the game, and those who do so by November 15th, 2010, are assured access to beta by November 30th (North America only).
Anyone pre-ordering the game after November 15th will gain beta access one week prior to the launch date and will be able to participate in the special beta ending event entitled Battle of the Legends with the rest of the beta participants. As an additional bonus, all beta participants will be recognized post release with a special emblem for their character when the game goes live. Beginning October 7, 2010 instructions on how to qualify to receive your pre-order beta key will be located here: www.dcuniverseonline.com/betakey.
Those wishing to register for beta without pre-ordering have until 11:59pm PST tonight. This is a general queue and does not assure access.
Lastly, due to overwhelming demand from the community, SOE is pleased to announce that a Collector's Edition for the PlayStation 3 will also be released (North America only), which includes the same items contained in the PC version announced earlier this year – the DCUO Batman statue, the limited edition Art of DC Universe Online art book, the DCUO Legends Issue #0 comic book with a Jim Lee variant cover, the DCUO Prestige comic presentation of the DCUO back-story and the limited edition Jim Lee-drawn poster Version of the Legends Issue #0 comic book variant cover.
