I have absolutely no idea to be honest. My first character has something like over 150 days played, and there is no way to tell from that how much was from leveling. Most of it was time at level 60, 70, and 80 depending the timeframe.
About 4 years and a few months i would say. Seeing as I started my first character in Nov of 2004 and you could not make 80 till at the least Nov 2008.
I started in vanilla, and my played time when i hit 80 was about 32 days, i used to be an active RPer in Vanilla, was raiding harcore at TBC and went full pvp-oriented in WOTLK
Soon my journey will be continuing with Cataclysm :P
Well I retired my Hunter and Shaman from BC I felt like WOTLK was taking a crap on me so I rolled a Shadow Priest thinking hey .. DKs cant really stop spell damage and they have already nerfed these guys beyond recognition.. and the shadow thing is awesome looking, So I rolled one. I got to 59 with this toon on Winterhoof in about two weeks while I collected gear, I had a plan to exterminate DKs from their overabundance in 59 bracket BGs, turned out I was pretty good with those mind blasts and enjoyed killing DKs and getting top 3 in BGs so much I did only that for about 7 months I think. .... Then after I got tired of the bloodshed I leveled to 80 by doing AVs over and over again... before they nerfed the exp.
I suppose years since the expansions werent there at the time. It took my first character about 3-5 months to reach 60 though. Then again, leveling wasn't nearly as fast like today.

Mine took 10 days /played how about everyone else?
Is levelling really that easy now in WOW or is this just some "etreme" method used to reach level eighty because I played WOW until a bit after TBC (I guess then it only went to level 60?) and it took me years to get even one character that far, of course I don't really rush to end game ever but 80 levels in ten days just sounds like the video game equavalent of a crack binge.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

They lowered the experience needed to level per level a while ago, probably after you left though.

Just remember the game really begins @ 80 tho...
Isn't that a problem? What's the point of levels then.
i think i had arround 45 days(24 hour days) on my first WoW char when i reached level 70 back in BC......then added arround 50 more days before Wotlk came out.
i think it took me like 5 days or so to get from 70 to 80.
so that would make it arround 50 days from 0 to 80?
My first 1-80 that I played through as quickly as I could took me just shy of 9 days. I remember looking at my /played after hitting 80 and thinking how I need to get laid more often :P

I don't subscribe to that theory or playstyle though, if the game doesn't really begin when I log into it then it never really begins for me because I would never level up a toon in a game thta I wasn't having fun in at that time.

Well....my first WoW 80 took me about 3 years and 5 months to get from the time I started playing in real time. But if we're talking about /played, my most recent 80 Mage that I just got last night.... **/played** 7 Days, 17 Hours, 36 minutes. My first 80, however, (subtracting level 80 play time) 22 days
Edit: The /played time though, I don't like to go by... it doesn't actually represent how many real life days it took, just how long you've logged onto the character altogether. In real time, going back to my first, too me well over 3 years to get to 80, since I had to wait for expansions.... so this topic really isn't a good one... My recent 80 took me about a month and a half to 2 months of just steady working on him.
My main character (pally) took me under a month at launch to hit 60.
60 to 70 took longer because I gave up for about 6 months (Stopped playing a week after BC launch)
70 to 80 took 6 days.
After I hit 80 with my pally in Wrath, I leveled up my hunter, shaman and lock from scratch to 80 in about a weeks time each.

Once WOTLK hit, it took me about 20 days to go from 70-80. I could have gotten there much faster but I took my time, enjoyed a TON of world pvp, and still maintained a social life (lolz).

If you know what you're doing, how to play your class, and are trying to get a character to level 80 as fast as possible you should be able to get something in between 120 and 240 hours. You also have 'Heirloom' items that provides an experience bonus (also very strong gear pieces for your character as you level up) . And they massively buffed experience gains from levels 20 to 70.
My first 1-80 34 days played, I'm one of those people that enjoy leveling.
The fastest 1-80 was 7 days (actually time played was 15, but it was my bank alt for a long time). <--Never will just rush level again.
Anyway I'm planning to level a warrior with no heirlooms, or addons, all on a new realm. I'm going to actually try to do everything in a zone before I leave, so maybe it will take 100 days played. If it is less then 34 though...I'll be pissed.

From what? level 1?

Not including vanilla characters, my first straight 1-80 took about 9.5 days /played without any XP boosts, RaF, BoA items or anything.
About 4 years and a few months i would say. Seeing as I started my first character in Nov of 2004 and you could not make 80 till at the least Nov 2008.

5 years.
Actually, I had 5 level 60's when I left WOW just before TBC released.
My son played for 3-4 years, quit and gave away his account to a friend.
Then he wanted to go back, so he recently reactivated my account and is right now leveling up my Druid to 80. (77 as of yesterday).
So I'm finally going to get a level 80. Have to put these useless children to work on something important for a change.

All I ment was 80 is not the finish line.
As for cata - so far its been a blast, like a brand new game. I think once I hit 60 tho it will fall into the OMG this is boring
Hehe yeah cata looks easy the level cap will be 85 right? The exp from 80-81 is gonna be crazy!
