I don't dislike any of the Final Fantasies; I do prefer certain ones. VI is number one because of its story, characters, and feel. I loved all the characters; everyone from Dark Cecil to the slightly insane Tellah, hell, even Palom and Porum. The story was excellent, especially the end (isn't FuSoYa cool?).
VI is number two for all the reasons that others listed it as one. You have to love the characters, especially Locke. The story is, of course, excellent too.
VII was absolutely revolutionary to the series. I crapped myself twice in the first hour of game play. The characters were superb, the story was superb, and the villian was nothing short of perfect. Of course, the only reason it was revolutionary was due to its graphics. Considering I don't base my judgement on graphics, VII only scored third place.

7 Was the one that really set the trends going!, I also have to agree that (IMO) 10 was the second best, the new idea that you could summon your own creature (mine was named Davie, Mark, Steve etc after my friends) was new. 4 I never got round to playing (well, at least I don't think I did) so I can't compare on that one
I love VII kick all the other Final Fantasy because it's more smooth and weick...( only reason I like because of sephiroth and vincent, and cloud...)....Next VIII...Men come on tell me that don't kick @$$ Gunblades, whips, guns etc....And Squall kick @$$ Gunblade Lionheart.....it's more harder than anyother Final Fantasy's ( FFT was cool too )....next 10/10-2....All new Summons and skills....Beautiful....But still don't Kick FFVII @$$......
1 ,2 ,7 and The one with Tidus... pretty sure that was ten. Ten ahd the best boss battle ever. When you had to fight the guy with Blue hair for the second time. When he looked all mehcanized and had a huge tail.
I hated 8 personally... i dont see anything that really made it great. 7 had a much greater storyline then 8 and deffinatly much better characters (and villians!)
Tactics by far. Best storyline, best gameplay, nuff said. As far as typical Final Fantasy's go, storytelling is a very important thing to me in a game, and X did that masterfully. And I LOVED the sphere system, took a while to get used to, but once I got into it I didn't want it to leave... bring it back in XII!!!

I know I'll get flamed for this one, but I really hated FFVII. FF1-6 where good, but the whole FF series is WAY overrated in my book.
Give me Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest or Suikoden 1&2 over FF anyday.
7 ya has gotta be my fav, but all the ff games are kick ass in their own ways, so its a pretty hard decision

I vote 8, and 7 really bored me. It was shite, in my opinion. But I can see how others like it.
If ignorance is bliss, you'd think people would be happier when you point out what morons they are!
Final Fantasy 3 is the best FF game in the series in my opinion. I still play it to this very day for some reason.

12 is lookin to be a good one.... hope it redeems the series from the crap its become from 8+
FF Tactics advance was too damn easy but still fun.
I hope the FFVII Advent Children movie is good.
