Unfortunate.  Why do so people un-install before their 30 days are up?

I guess if you get that frustrated...

The game may seem a bit bland at first, but I find if you do some "research" it can be more fun.

Also, join a linkshell, it will help as well.

I was confused, just like many others, but I asked questions, and looked up information on websites to help me learn the ropes of the game, which in turn, helped me enjoy it more.

I think many people ragequit or just quit because they are confused, and since no one is holding there hand, or even guideing them along, that they grow frustrated and quit.

Granted, I do agree there is a lack of group content, at least right now, (I hope to find more later, or at least difficult mobs in which people group to kill),  but it still has some good core elements, and the community is one of the best out there in MMOs today.

Every game has its flaws at release, and plenty of people ragequit/quit and complain.  Granted there is more with this game due to the lack of real tutorial and somewhat crappy UI, but I think it will grow well.  But i am just expressing my opinion, just like everyone else does in their complaints/reviews.

I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.

    Jesus...

I assure you it isn't just WoW player's calling the game out as unintuitive, bad, poor, and just plain NOT FUN. It is 90% of the gamers who have played it, many like myself, forcibly tried to like it to the best of abilities and would have accepted a half decent game from SE, instead this is what we're stuck with. I have been gaming for almost 30 yrs, been apart of countless MMO worlds; challenge isn't a problem for me, but the only challenge in FF14 is the challenge of trying to stay awake during prolonged playing periods. Don't worry either buddy, you won't have to worry about many people at all in you're game once this free month expires for most of us. You can keep FF14 and your own self serving sense of satisfaction, none of us want either. FF14 is hands down the worst MMO of the last few years (Worse then APB and AoC to me) and is without question the biggest disappointment of the year in games. SE is just a company who has long ago lost its way and forgot what made them great, either the original FF creators were fired or grew incredibly out of touch with gaming in the 21st century.

I don't think solo grinding mobs to skill up is viable past rank 20. You gotta group up and start killing crabs etc.

and I realize you said you'd never post that wqay again, but still. as far as how wow has no skill involved, you ever stop and think "maybe its easy for me cause I played it so much."?

Find yourself a 63 year old, get them to start playing wow, someone with no previous gaming experience, and realize real quick what you call easy is relative. most of the people i see calling wow easy are the people who already played it for years, and done all the raids 20+ times each, I would hope it would be easy by then, if not your kinda...well people who are medically "intellectually challanged" tend to be able to admit something is easier after the 8th time doing it so....yeah. mr Wow_refugee, I doubt you fall in that group of people do you?

Hmm... i suppose it's like ordering a bowl of soup at a restaurant and the waiter serves it with a fork.

Some simply enjoy drinking the soup with a fork because it's a challenge in itself

Some might find the fork and resulting slow rate of consumption frustrating, but slowly come to appreciate the flavor of the soup

Some might still request for a spoon and try to drink with the fork whilst waiting

Some might just give up waiting and go to another restaurant that serves soup with a spoon.

Technically, you could just drink soup straight from the bowl, but well, let's just say that option isn't available here! lol. My attempt at analogy101 image

I'm not a WoW fanboi, in fact i've bashed it on more then one occassion on these forums but really pass me what you're smoking. It isn't any harder then WoW, it is just more tedious. For instance, combat is so so so slow and boring in FF14 that literally I could put my dogs face on the keyboard and roll his bulldog skull around and kill marmot number 205. In WoW, the combat may be just as easy as FF but it's incredibly more fast paced (Wtf did I just say WoW's combat was fast? Compared to FF it is..) FF takes alot less skill to fight in then WoW. You are just being a stubborn SE fanboi at this point and defending the game cuz you like it, which is fine, but don't go suffering from delusions of grandeur. You're 3 yr old would have a better chance of getting max lvl in "X" class in FF14 then to beat Heroic LK.

You have little free time so you decide to play a MMORPG? :P

C'mon, admit it, you're feeling that itch and it needs to be scratched.

I quit back in March and for the most part, have been able to resist the siren's call.  However the past few weeks have been more difficult as FFXIV has been calling my name.  I think I"m getting over it though.  Enough time on this site and others are successfully dampening my interest for this game.

I admit I do miss expressing my creative side. I like to do that in RPG's, where I can use my creative talents to create characters, develop them, and equip them. Little free time to me is maybe 2 hours a day, if that. That's hardly enough time to go out anywhere fun, so games and TV shows fill that gap nicely. I was hoping to fill that gap with FFXIV, but it just isn't fun or exciting to play. So I'll hold off with games until something else I'm excited about comes out. I'm really rooting for Star Wars and GW 2.

I'm pretty sure if you tried to kill an even match Dodo by face rolling you would be killed every time. I also used to work for the latter company we are talking about here. Sorry to burst your bubble but that game is easy mode. I'm not saying it's bad I'm just saying what it is. I also fail to see how it's not fast paced combat. I play as a PUG when fighting mobs and lay a beat down on them. Don't think I'm ever just standing there waiting for a cool down.

Ya know what...I'm gonna stop there. There are millions of people for whom World of Warcraft was the first exposure to MMOs (and millions more who have played it after playing other MMOs as well). Well I'm going to speak my freaking mind here and call down the flames:

That game has single-handedly ruined the MMO genre by creating millions of first-time MMO players who are used to simplified, spoon-fed, hand-holding, quick-fix, no-challenge, no-skill, no-consequence, easy reward gameplay. And you know what? SOME OF US DON'T LIKE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of us DON'T LIKE being able to farm all the best gear easily from paper tiger mobs.

Some of us DON'T LIKE getting to max level in two or three months.

Some of us DON'T LIKE going from camp A to zone B to dungeon C in 60 seconds via some "mystical gateway" or flying mega-chicken.

Some of us DON'T LIKE taking a rock and an apple core and clicking "combine" to get a glowing, flame-licked, 15-foot polearm out of it.

Some of us like things to be hard, tough to figure out, convoluted and messy. That way, we get the satisfaction of figuring it out or doing it for ourselves.

So honestly- and I'll never ever say anything this damned crude again, and I won't respond to this post, and I'll probavly get banned  which will make everyone realy happy -but honestly, F**K all you impatient and lazy brats. For a whole host of reasons, this game isn't for you. Piss off, seriously. Take the locust swarm onto the next game, please, and leave those of us who like this one to enjoy it in peace

    Jesus...

you post made me laugh I'm sorry.

Us whiny child brats or whatever you called us all seem to have well thought out reasons and explain them in rather civilized manners.

You however.....lets just say you took the low path.

and I realize you said you'd never post that wqay again, but still. as far as how wow has no skill involved, you ever stop and think "maybe its easy for me cause I played it so much."?

Find yourself a 63 year old, get them to start playing wow, someone with no previous gaming experience, and realize real quick what you call easy is relative. most of the people i see calling wow easy are the people who already played it for years, and done all the raids 20+ times each, I would hope it would be easy by then, if not your kinda...well people who are medically "intellectually challanged" tend to be able to admit something is easier after the 8th time doing it so....yeah. mr Wow_refugee, I doubt you fall in that group of people do you?

I let my 3 year old child play WoW..... I'm not jokeing..... So I think it might be possible to gradually advance through WoW just by face rolling the keyboard.

I let my dog do a fight in FF14 for me, whats your point? Are you really telling me FF is more challenging then WoW?

I'm pretty sure if you tried to kill an even match Dodo by face rolling you would be killed every time. I also used to work for the latter company we are talking about here. Sorry to burst your bubble but that game is easy mode. I'm not saying it's bad I'm just saying what it is.

Actually for a thaumaturgist buttons 1-5 do literally the same amount of damage, trust me facerolling is possible if not prevelent in FF14. I went to level 15 without doing anything but hitting 1-5. Not once using anything any gamer could call 'skill'. WoW may be easy to learn, but hard to master. As I said before, your 3 yr old would stand a much better chance of max leveling a skill in FF then defeating heroic LK. FF isn't hard at all, it is just alot of mindless repitition. WoW isn't hard either, but some of those higher encounters undoubtedly challenge skill and reflexes more so then anything I saw in FF14. FF isn't hard, it's just unforgiving and punishing to play and I don't mean that in a positive challenging way, I mean the game literally sucks  worse then APB and punishes you by asking you to play more. The least SE could do is make the boring skills fun since it doesn't require any challenge or brainpower.

You know what makes me laugh? Honestly? Every review I read or hear that bashes the game, including Gamespot's and now Gametrailers, sounds like whiny spoiled childishness. They're written or spoken in proper English, sure enough, but more than anything else they're *still* griping about how it doesn't have all the convenient niceties of all the post-WoW MMOs.

My first MMO was DAoC, which I started playing in 2002. It and SWG were my favorite MMORPG's, and I wouldn't mind many more MMO's being modeled after them. All I ask for in any game if I'm to subscribe is for the gameplay to be fun, character development interesting and exciting, and the game in general be exciting. FFXIV doesn't do that for me, but that doesn't mean I'm bashing the game. I don't need a game to crash and burn just because I don't care for it. There's plenty of people and games in this world for there to be room enough for one more MMORPG that I don't care for. It's no big deal to me. I do feel bad for you though, because games just aren't worth getting that pissed off about. They're just entertainment, and the followers of whatever game isn't worth the frustration you're showing. There's plenty in this world to get upset about, such as paying 30% of your income in taxes, but games and their followers isn't one of them.

Yeah, I don't get why people feel that when someone dislikes a game and quits, then expresses their opinion on the internet, it means we have an agenda against said game. I mean, I did get all excited for this game and bought the Collectors Edition for $80 on release day, with hopes of having a fun an exciting game to play for several months. I didn't want FFXIV not to be fun and exciting; that's just the way it was for me. In short, I spent a lot of money on this game, so it does nothing for me to purposely dislike the game just to arouse hate and discontent in the forums and against me. Maybe I actually found the game unfun and unexciting?

Ok. I get that you don't like the game. I just haven't seen you give a reason why. Just a plain "It sucks". So now I'm asking. Why do you think it sucks?

A wonderful post and you're feelings are shared by most of us. I'm sure most of us after years of waiting for this game, wanted it to be boring, unexciting, and unchallenging in a positive way. Challenge should come from the encounter itself, not because you're wrestling with the games systems to get it to function in a way it should have from the get go. The game is years behind anything else in the market and will suffer from a dwindling population. SE made a beautiful game but forgot the most important element of gaming, FUN.

Nice to see game companies do still exist that dares to do things different.

How does getting gear from players who made it or crafting gear yourself equate to earning it anymore than questing for it? All you do for gear in this game is grind out the crafting for it or buy it off other players. You don't earn stuff in this game anymore than you earn it in other games, it's just more of a boring grind to get it.

Where would I begin that the reviews haven't already touched upon... boring, unfun, unfast, unintuitive. Feels like an MMO built for the late 90's without taking any of the innovations that have come since EQ1. The graphics, no question, gets them alot of points from me. With an i7 processor and an nvidia 480x card, the graphics can be simply stunning. The combat is boring though and makes WoW's combat look like sonic the hedgehog on speed. The interface lags, is slow, doesn't help at all, and once you figure things out for yourself you find it.. lacking. I ran through the entire Ul'dah zone and never had a challenge or a moment where the game pushed me, except for putting level 5 mobs next to level 20 enemies. If you want me to pick apart every single aspect of the game, I will be happy to post another negative review of the game that goes into details. Bottem line, the game just isn't fun and is years behind the rest of the industry. I also thought FF13 was horrid so I think this will be the last SE game I pick up, the company has lost itself.

I can understand that. So then the game was just not fun for you. I don't think the population is going to dwindle nearly as much as you think it will. It is also not a step backwards in the MMO genre as you like to claim. SE has some issues they need to work on as a company developing mmos (Tutorial for new players before they get off the boat please?). What SE does have right is the economy/crafting system (they are fixing the markets next week) and the storyline and since of accomplishment (which SE had done right since their first mmo FFXI).

Well, different strokes ;) I understand that you think it's fun and I told you before in another forum I'm glad and hope you continue to enjoy it. I hope SE delivers on all the updates and really turns this horrid start around. I would never knock on a gamer because they enjoy something I don't, and would hope to be treated to the same courtesy. I personally don't like FF and didn't find it any fun, that doesn't mean I want the game to crash and burn and running around telling people "DONT BUY DONT BUY!" I was able to come to my own conclusion, and for me it wasn't fun. I think the economy was one of the shortcomings of FF (bazaars.... /shudders) but you enjoy it so that just proves we have different tastes. Does it make either of us wrong? Absolutely not my man and I really do hope you continue to enjoy the game. The vast majority of us who tried the game didn't like it, but that doesn't mean that the ones of you who did/do enjoy it shouldn't just because we didnt like it. I hated FF13 and people loved it. Maybe I'll check in with FF14 a yr or two down the road, for now I'm incredibly disappointed and continue my long wait for SWTOR and GW2. Good luck though in game and in that SE can turn the game around.

Actually I think we are on the same page with the Market system being an issue but I dont think an AH is the right way either. Maybe if there was a way to advertise what a Retainer or Your character is selling? Catagorising the Market wards is a step in the right direction to fixing the issue I think. But just a step.

I'm all for making things difficult in games, believe me, I used to love me some muds. To show how inaccessible FF is, even old MUDs like Gemstone and Dragonrealms had help pages with players assigned to help those new to the community adjust and help with questions without revealing game secrets(games made for the early days of AOL, ya know back when AOL was relevant).  If these 20+ yr old games can do this, why can't FF? I don't want my hand held, I luv challenge in games. Rarely does a game come out where I don't put it on the hardest setting to challenge myself, but if you need help with simple game mechanic questions and they aren't available, its a problem. Every game should have a simple tutorial of the simple things, the fact I had to learn the bazaar system from a fellow player is a glaring red flag to me. Holding hands and having giant ! marks isn't what i'm asking for, but did they really want to make their entire game just an effort in futility? Thats the frustrating part of FF for me bro, is that with my computer it looks simply stellar but the gameplay itself is just so.. slow and so many missing things. I asked a player by the chocobo booth opening week when the chocobo's will be available and what level you unlock them. Apparently one of the biggest symbols of recognition for the FF franchise isn't available yet and may not be for around a year or so in game, same with airships. Why release the game if it isn't ready SE? My biggest flaws with the game are what the game does wrong or lacks. The foundation for a great game is there but really, it's lacking anything but the most basic of quests and enemies. The hardest part of the quests is finding out who to talk to to get them.  /facepalm.

I don't want my hand held, I luv challenge in games. I also agree on the lacking tutorial being an issue. Thats something they didn't do in FFXI and they didn't do it in FFXIV either. It doesn't make since. The closest thing to a tutorial they have is the first story line quest when they "TRY" to show you around town and have you run a leve. I think the Chcobos and Airships will be in game fairly soon. I think not having them available at the moment is just a mechanism SE is useing to control charater progression. Same reason for the lack of a mailing system. ><

These are simple things that shouldn't be left out. They could manage a market in FF11 but not 14. They can give me a tutorial in every FF ever including the clusterfuck of bad that was 13, but not 14. The world is big, but it's soulless and empty of anything of real substance. SE is clearly not the innovative company I grew up on, I would rather be playing SNES FF games than 14 even with its stunning visuals. The only thing 14 accomplished for me was making me miss WOW for the first time about a year. Holdings hands and making everything too easy in a game is one thing, making them accessible and fun is another. FF suffers from the latter and the lack of accessibility even nerds like myself could get past with nerdy research and websites but what about the casual fans of FF or casual gamers? Just too bad for them? I can get past a game being incredibly difficult with a general lack of accessibility (i did play MUDs after all...) but I can't get past a game that isn't fun and feels more like work then a game.

Thats my big problem with the game, I'm not saying that people are not allowed to like it, but instead of telling me that I'm just used to being spoon fed something, or what i play is just "SOOOO EASY" give me some reasons as to why you like your game. tell me about how when your at this one area the monsters give you a real challenge, or how you really enjoy the quest in zone such and such, or how x forest is cool. I don't see anything like that, I just see, you just like wow cause its easy.  At this point, no Like wow cause i get to play with friends I made over the years but thats off topic.

I'm all for games being more challenging, I'll admit wow is very easy, been playing it a while so yeah, its also easy to pick up on, cause thats how you get people to keep playing it, you make it easy to get into.  FF14 just doesn't seem to do that, the evidence is EVERYWHERE that its not, and I'm just tired of people who like the game saying that its something that it's not. Say what it is, say its a game that has a slew of problems, but you still like it, say that you like the combat because of....whatever it is you like about it. IF you like crafting say why, if you like it because you actually have to work for stuff.....you need a job, in my opinion, I play a game to be given entertainment, and i Find entertainment in my MMO's to be character advancement, and since I pay for the game, and not the other way around, I don't want to have to work for anything, just want to play for it.

I got real off topic in that I think, what i want to say is please don't be like the game companies, we hear from them all the time how their game is perfect and the new awesome experience, we hear enough smoke from them. If you like the game thats fine, its your money, you can do with it what you want, but don't be blind to what something is. I'm not blind that wow is easy (to me) and that gear is very easy to get (for someone who is good at the game) and that there isn't much challenge left in it for vet players, but I still like it.  You are perfectly allowed to like a game that is tedious (to some people) and filled with inconviences (to some people), but don't try to tell me that the only reason I don't like your game is because I like my game, I already know that (and in this case, it is not the only reason), a DO NOT try to tell me I'm wrong for liking my game either, that just tells me that you have no real reason for liking your game other than hating mine.
