Dont quit it if u dont have anything else to play. Even if im not a wow fan i can tell, there arent any good mmos out there atm, My advice is, hang out with friends more and play wow in free time, then if u want, quit it when some big title comes out to the market. Unless u r really bored and cant stand it anymore.
There is now less than 2 months until CAT is out. Seriously do not quit. You can always just "not sub" until Dec 7 and re-sub. But with the exp. almost here you should just play it and then decide. It would be a waste to just quit when CAT is almost here and you are unsure. 2 months after CAT is out is when you should decide. Why not 1 month? Because 2 is better than 1
I quit playing for awhile and this worked for me. I come from a family of addicts so it is hereditary in my case I get addicted to different things in my life. It was even work at one point which was a happy coincidence .
You need to go to the park .Get some book on audio and just walk or run everyday for two hours. Force yourself. Don't quit until you have done this everyday for two weeks. You will by then actually look forward to going to the park and enjoy the fresh air and the birds and flowers. It really worked for me, try it.
One thing though does your illness prevent you from going to the park ?
Then come back and try to play some of those Xbox games. The park will make sure you sleep better too.
I'm coasting it until World of Darkness is out. I just hope and prey that isn't a stinker or WoW will retain my time, amongst a few other games. EVE Online's Incarna is a possibility too but I don't want to be locked in to CCP so it's either going to be EVE or WoD with WoW upto then. Incarna I believe will be out a while before WoD with hope, so I can get a little glimpse from that how some of the gameplay may translate to World of Darkness, i.e. evalutate the skill and if I actually enjoy the game.
If it's good, then perhaps World of Darkness will be good, and WoW will lose any hold over me.
What do you guys think I should do, in all honesty? Please speak the truth, as long as it's not malicious/nasty I don't mind. I'd rather hear the truth tbh. If you guys feel I should quit, then please let me know.

Hello friend.
I was in the same place you are. So here's what I did to overcome my "addiction".
I went out, got myself a lovely job which I'm still holding onto these days. It's been 2 years.
I also worked out a little bit.
I had new experiences out there, in the big bad world and before I knew it the desire to log in grew less and less. I didn't stand around Shattrath anymore doing nothing. I became a casual gamer.
I saw WoW for what it was and eventually became tired and bored of it so I started playing other games. Online of course. I fell in love with the whole genre thanks to my past experiences in WoW. I played many fun games out there and realized that each had its strengths and weakness. Yes! Including WoW :-)
I hope to read how it turns out for you. Good luck.
If you think you should quit WoW, then do so. It's not going to matter at all what anyone else thinks in the end. I've got friends that have quit jobs to play when an expansion launches, and I wonder if they are going to do that again. One of them was divorced over his addiction. I have in the past struggled with it giving up RL activities like going out with friends, calling out of work, etc. but somewhere along the line I decided, for myself, that doing that was a waste of time.
Sure it's fun for awhile but what's going to happen 10 years from now when you look for a job. Do you think that putting you had a 9k+ achievement score going to get you hired? Probably not. And I know for sure it's not going to help you get laid.
If you quit though, quit because you think it's the right thing to do.
Hope the decision to quit sticks. Good luck to you.
I quit WoW over a year ago, uninstalled it completely after 3 months, and honestly haven't regretted it.
I do play another game, but one that is less focused around running dungeons and looting purpz, I find there's less pressure to log in (fear of falling behind, fear of missing out on something - all things WoW had in spades). I still play quite a lot but I don't feel.....obligated......in the way I did with WoW. I quit WoW because it started feeling like a second job and I resented it. I don't hate the game, I don't look down on WoW players, I just stopped having fun and left.
Play to have fun, enjoy Fallout New Vegas and enjoy the feeling of playing something new & different. Spend long enough discovering those games you've left gathering dust and you may wonder why you spent so long in WoW to begin with.
So long spent in WoW makes it not only a place to escape to, but a comfort zone. It's good to step out of your confort zone every now and then and see what else may be out there to experience.
Originally posted by glim3mer If you want to quit WoW, I'm sorry to say this, but you have to find reason to hate the game (or atleast strongly dislike it). Tell yourself things like, what's the point of getting gear, if ultimately the gear will serve no other purpose then ... Or the game is too streamlined and it's not for me any more. I don't feel like running heroics all day since clearly that's what it's become.... Go play your Xbox. Good Luck
It's nice to see what's going on between the eyes of a typical Wow hater (your own words btw). So you mentally prepare yourself to hate a game? lol Back on topic: OP: no problem it's a cycle we all have: if you want to play (finally) your new bought XBox: go for it.
Just a little advice: don't throw away your money in trying to get "rid off" the WOW passion. Mostly it is money lost. Be that on consoles or other games: you will hardly play them.
Or he could play EVE or any number of sim/rts style games and have more enganging gameplay than point and click. I quit playing in 3.2 because I knew full well that CAT was going to be terrible and this is just the beginning. Honestly right now I have been playing online games of Sword of the Stars to keep me occupied or whatever other interesting game comes along. Of course I came from the time before WOW when there were online and non online games so it's no biggy for me to not play an mmo for a time.
But you are funny Arn you are the biggest WOW fanatic posting currently and you act like not liking WOW anyomre is some kind of crime. Its not, the game has just gotten bad over time, on a political scale it started out around the level of Al Sharpton but has slowly degraded to the level of Sarah Palin. When a game gets to the point people start losing brain cells, its time to go.

I am waiting for that one as well, I was planning on playing Spellborn but Acclaim ruined that for me. Also dont forget about the Eldar scrolls mmo, coming out about the same time as WOD. The big thing is making it a year or two more without a regular mmorpg. Because until then your only other two new options are going to be The Old Republic (wow clone) and maybe that Emo AION game.
think theres a number of people that play, because everyone else is playing and theres very little in the way of substitute. Its not to deny it is a good game, but its a game that does get old pretty fast. Its why many people play it casual on-off imho.

You are that hooked after 3 years still? Gratz!

Take a break and come back. I''ve quit this game 5 times now, even giving away my account at one point so I'd NEVER come back...
I currently have a 26 holy priest and 16 prot warrior after resubbing over the weekend, lol.
